2584-5. Using the driving support systems
*:If equipped
■Parking Support Brake function
(static objects) (if equipped)
Ultrasonic sensors are used to detect
static objects, such as a wall, in the
detection area when driving at a low
speed or backing up. ( P.264)
■Parking Support Brake function
(rear-crossing vehicles) (if
equipped)
Rear radar sensors are used to detect
approaching vehicles in the detection
area behind the vehicle when backing
up. ( P.270) The Parking Support Brake can be
enabled/disabled on the multi-informa-
tion display. All of the Parking Support
Brake functions (static objects and
rear-crossing vehicles) are
enabled/disabled simultaneously.
PKSB (Parking Support
Brake)*
The Parking Support Brake system
consists of the following functions
that operate when driving at a low
speed or backing up, such as when
parking. When the system deter-
mines that the possibility of a colli-
sion with a detected object is high, a
warning operates to urge the driver
to take evasive action. If the system
determines that the possibility of a
collision with a detected object is
extremely high, the brakes are
automatically applied to help avoid
the collision or help reduce the
impact of the collision.

WARNING
■Limitations of the Parking Support
Brake system
Do not overly rely on the system, as
doing so may lead to an accident.
●The driver is solely responsible for safe
driving. Always drive carefully, taking
care to observe your surroundings.
The Parking Support Brake system is
designed to provide support to lessen
the severity of collisions. However, it
may not operate in some situations.
●The Parking Support Brake system is
not designed to stop the vehicle com-
pletely. Additionally, even if the system
has stopped the vehicl e, it is necessary
to depress the brake pedal immedi-
ately as brake control will be canceled
after approximately 2 seconds.
NOTICE
■If “Parking Support Brake Unavail-
able” is displayed on the multi-infor-
mation display and the PKSB OFF
indicator is flashing
If this message is displayed immediately
after the engine swit ch is changed to
IGNITION ON mode, operate the vehi-
cle carefully, paying attention to your sur-
roundings. It may be necessary to drive
the vehicle for a certain amount of time
before the system returns to normal. (If
the system is not return to normal after
driving for a while, clean the sensors and
their surrounding area on the bumpers.)
Enabling/Disabling the Parking
Support Brake
2624-5. Using the driving support systems
sarily, brake control can be canceled by
depressing the brake pedal or waiting for
approximately 2 seconds for it to automati-
cally be canceled. Then, the vehicle can be
operated by depressing the accelerator
pedal.
■Re-enabling the Parking Support Brake
To re-enable the Parking Support Brake
when it has been disabled due to system
operation perform any of the following
operations.
At this time, the PKSB OFF indicator will
turn off. (P.72)
●Turn the PKSB (Parking Support Brake)
on ( P.259)
●The shift lever is in P.
●Drive with no operation targets in the
traveling direction of the vehicle
●Change the traveling direction of the
vehicle
■If “Parking Support Brake Unavailable”
is displayed on th e multi-information
display and the PKSB OFF indicator is
flashing
●If this message is displayed only when the
shift lever is in any position other than R, a
sensor on the front or rear bumper may
be dirty. Clean the sensors and their sur-
rounding area on the bumpers.
●Initialization may no t have been per-
formed after a battery terminal was dis-
connected and reconnec ted. Initialize the
system. ( P.263)
If this message continues to be displayed
even after init ialization, have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer.
■If “Parking Assist Unavailable” and
“Parking Assist Unavailable Clean
Parking Assist Sensor”is displayed on
the multi-informatio n display and the
PKSB OFF indicator is flashing
●A sensor may be covered with ice, snow,
dirt, etc. Remove the ice, snow, dirt, etc.,
from the sensor to return the system to
normal.
If this message is shown even after
removing dirt from the sensor, or shown
when the sensor was not dirty to begin
with, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
●A sensor may be frozen. Once the ice
melts, the system wi
ll return to normal.
●Water may be continuo usly flowing over
the sensor surface, such as in a heavy
rain. When the system determines that it
is normal, the system will return to nor-
mal.
■If a battery terminal has been discon-
nected and reconnected
The system needs to be initialized. To initial-
ize the system, drive the vehicle straight
ahead for 5 seconds or more at a speed of
approximately 22 mph (35 km/h) or more.
Additionally, for vehicles with the Parking
Support Brake function, turn the steering
wheel fully to the left and right with the vehi-
cle stopped.

In Eco drive mode, the air conditioning sys-
tem is controlled as follows to prioritize fuel
efficiency:
●Engine speed and compressor operation
controlled to restri ct heating/cooling
capacity
●Fan speed restricted when automatic
mode is selected
To improve air condit ioning performance,
perform the following operations:
●Adjust the fan speed
●Turn off Eco drive mode ( P.274)
■When the outside temperature falls to
nearly 32°F (0°C)
The dehumidification function may not
operate even when “A/C” is selected.
■Ventilation and air conditioning odors
●To let fresh air in, set the air conditioning
system to the outside air mode.
●During use, various odors from inside and
outside the vehicle may enter into and
accumulate in the air conditioning sys-
tem. This may then cause odor to be
emitted from the vents.
●To reduce potential odors from occur-
ring:
• It is recommended that the air condition- ing system be set to outside air mode
prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time imme-
diately after the air conditioning system is
started in automatic mode or with the
micro dust and pollen filter on.

Manual S-FLOW mode
When the S-FLOW mode switch is
selected, S-FLOW mode will be manu-
ally enabled/ disabled.
The indicator will illuminate on the air con-
ditioning control screen when S-FLOW
mode is enabled.

does not judge if a pa ssenger is in a rear
seat.
To disable S-FLOW mode automatically by
opening and closing a rear door or operat-
ing the rear air conditioning system
(RX350L), change to automatic S-FLOW
mode. ( P.305)
■How the system judges if a passenger is
in the vehicle when in S-FLOW mode
In S-FLOW mode, the system judges if a
passenger is in the vehicle as follows:
●Front passenger seat: A passenger is
judged to be in the front passenger seat
when the system detects an object on the
front passenger seat, fastening of the
front passenger seat belt, changing of the
set temperature for the front passenger
seat or the opening and closing of the
front passenger door. (However, when
only opening and closing of the front pas- senger door is dete
cted, the system will
judge that a passenger is not in the front
passenger seat after the vehicle speed
reaches approximately 12 mph (20
km/h) or more.)
●Rear seats (automatic S-FLOW mode
only): A passenger is judged to be in a
rear seat when the system detects the
opening and closing of a rear door or the
operation of the rear air conditioning sys-
tem (RX350L).
If a passenger is judged to be in the vehicle,
the system will retain the judgement for a
certain amount of time after the engine
switch is turned off.
■Operation of automatic S-FLOW mode
When the system is operating in automatic
S-FLOW mode, if the system detects the
opening and closing of a rear door or the
operation of the rear air conditioning sys-
tem (RX350L), S-FLOW mode will be dis-
abled. To enable S-FLOW mode, select the
S-FLOW mode switch. (I n this case, the sys-
tem will operate in manual S-FLOW mode.)
■Changing from manual S-FLOW mode
to automatic S-FLOW mode
1 Select the S-FLOW mode switch to dis-
able S-FLOW mode.
2 Turn the engine switch off.
3 After 60 minutes have elapsed, change
the engine switch to ON mode.
