Engine Coolant Temperature
Gauge
This gauge indicates the tempera-
ture of the engine coolant when the
ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop
button is ON.
If the gauge pointer moves beyond
the normal range area toward the “H”
position, it indicates overheating that
may damage the engine.
Do not continue driving with an over-
heated engine. If your vehicle over-
heats, refer to “If the Engine
Overheats” in chapter 6.
Fuel Gauge
This gauge indicates the approxi-
mate amount of fuel remaining in the
fuel tank.OYP048105N

WARNING - Hot radiator
Never remove the radiator cap
when the engine is hot. The
engine coolant is under pressure
and could severely burn. Wait
until the engine is cool before
adding coolant to the reservoir.

Operation Tips
To keep dust or unpleasant fumesfrom entering the vehicle through
the ventilation system, temporarily
set the air intake control to the
recirculated air position. Be sure to
return the control to the fresh air
position when the irritation has
passed to keep fresh air in the
vehicle. This will help keep the driv-
er alert and comfortable.
Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles just
ahead of the windshield. Care
should be taken that these are not
blocked by leaves, snow, ice or
other obstructions.
To prevent interior fog on the wind- shield, set the air intake control to
the fresh air position and fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the
air conditioning system, and adjust
the temperature control to desired
temperature.Air conditioning
Air Conditioning System in this vehi-
cle is filled with R-1234yf refrigerant.
1. Start the engine. Press the air con- ditioning button.
2. Set the mode to the position.
3. Set the air intake control to the out- side air or recirculated air position.
4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control to maintain
maximum comfort.
When maximum cooling is desired, set the temperature control to the
extreme left position, set the mode
control to the MAX A/C position,
then set the fan speed control to
the highest speed.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
When opening the windows in
humid weather, air conditioning
may create water droplets inside the
vehicle. Since excessive water
droplets may cause damage to elec-
trical equipment, air conditioning
should only be used with the win-
dows closed.
CAUTION- Excessive A/C
When using the air conditioning
system, monitor the enginecoolant closely while driving uphills or in heavy traffic when out-side temperatures are high. Airconditioning system operationmay cause engine overheatingand potential engine damage.Continue to use the blower fanbut turn the air conditioning sys-tem off if the engine coolanttemperature gauge indicatesengine overheating.

Before entering vehicle
• Be sure that all windows, outsidemirror(s), and outside lights are
clean.
Check the condition of the tires.
Check under the vehicle for any sign of leaks.
Be sure there are no obstacles behind you if you intend to back up.
Necessary inspections
Fluid levels, such as engine oil,
engine coolant, brake fluid, and
washer fluid should be checked on a
regular basis, at the exact interval
depending on the fluid. Further
details are provided in chapter 7,
“Maintenance”.
Before starting
Close and lock all doors.
Position the seat so that all con-trols are easily reached.
Buckle your seat belt.
Adjust the inside and outside rearview mirrors.
Be sure that all lights work.
Check all gauges.
Check the operation of warning lights when the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position.
Release the parking brake and make sure the brake warning light
goes out.
For safe operation, be sure you are
familiar with your vehicle and its
equipment.

any handled devices, other

Active ECO operation
Active ECO helps improve fuel effi-
ciency by controlling the engine and
transmission. But fuel-efficiency can
be affected by the driver's driving
habits and road conditions.
When the Active ECO button is
pressed the ECO indicator (green)
will illuminate to show that the
Active ECO is operating.
When the Active ECO is activated, it does not turn off even though the
engine is restarted again. To turn
off the system, press the active
ECO button again.
If Active ECO is turned off, it will return to the normal mode.
When Active ECO is activated:
The engine noise may get louder.
The vehicle speed may slightly bereduced.
The air conditioner performance may be affected.
Limitation of Active ECO oper-
ation:
If the following conditions occur while
Active ECO is operating, the system
operation is limited even though
there is no change in the ECO indi-
cator.
When the coolant temperature islow:
The system will be limited until
engine performance becomes nor-
mal.
When driving up a hill: The system will be limited to gain
power when driving uphill because
the engine torque is restricted.
When using sports mode: The system will be limited accord-
ing to the shift location.
When the accelerator pedal is deeply pressed for a few seconds:
The system will be limited,as it has
determined that the driver has
accelerated judging that the driver
wants to speed up.

Limitation of Active ECO operation:
If the following conditions occur while
Active ECO is operating, the system
operation is limited even though
there is no change in the ECO indi-
cator.
When the coolant temperature is
low:
The system will be limited until
engine performance becomes nor-
mal.
When driving up a hill: The system will be limited to gain
power when driving uphill because
the engine torque is restricted.
When using manual mode: The system will be limited accord-
ing to the shift location.
When the accelerator pedal is deeply depressed for a few sec-
onds:
The system will be limited, judging
that the driver wants to speed up.Comfort mode
The steering wheelbecomes lighter. The com-
fort mode is usually used
when driving in the city or
when parking the vehicle.
For your safety, if you press the steering mode button while operat-
ing the steering wheel, but the
steering effort will not change
immediately. After operating the
steering wheel, the steering effort
will change automatically to the
selected mode.
When the electronic power steer- ing is not operating properly, the
flex steering wheel will not work.
CAUTION
Use caution when changing thesteering mode while driving.

Driving on unpaved roads
Drive carefully on unpaved roads
because your vehicle may be dam-
aged by rocks or roots of trees.
Become familiar with the unpaved
road conditions where you are going
to drive before you begin driving.
Highway driving
Tires
Adjust the tire inflation pressures to
specification. Low tire inflation pres-
sures will result in overheating and
possible failure of the tires.
Avoid using worn or damaged tires
which may result in reduced traction
or tire failure.
Never exceed the maximum tire
inflation pressure shown on the tires.
Fuel, engine coolant and engine
oil
High speed travel consumes more
fuel than urban motoring. Do not for-
get to check both the engine coolant
and engine oil.
Drive belt
A loose or damaged drive belt may
result in overheating of the engine.
WARNING- Under/over inflated tires
Always check the tires for proper
inflation before driving.
Underinflated or overinflated
tires can cause poor handling,
loss of vehicle control, and sud-
den tire failure leading to acci-
dents, injuries, and even death.
For proper tire pressures, refer to
"Tires and wheels" in chapter 8.
WARNING- Tire tread
Always check the tire tread
before driving your vehicle.
Worn-out tires can result in loss
of vehicle control. Worn-out tires
should be replaced as soon as
possible. For further information
and tread limits, refer to "Tires
and wheels" in chapter 7.
