Surround View Monitor (SVM) sys-
tem is not a substitute for proper and
safe parking procedures. Surround
View Monitor (SVM) system may not
detect every object surrounding the
vehicle. Always drive safely and use
caution when parking. Surround View Monitor (SVM) sys-
tem can assist in parking by allowing
the driver to see around the vehicle.
Push the button (1) into the [ON]
position to operate the system.
To cancel the system, push the but-
ton (1) again.
Operating conditions
- When the Engine Start/Stop
Button is ON position (When the
ISG Mode(if equipped) On,
Surround View Monitor (SVM) sys-
tem deactivates.)
- When the transmission is on D, N or R
When the vehicle moves back- wards, SVM system operates auto-
matically.
When the trunk and driver/passen- ger door are opened and the out-
side mirror is folded, a warning is
illuminated in SVM system.
If SVM system is not operating nor- mally, the system should be checked
by an authorized K900 Kia dealer.

The driver must be cautious inthe below situations as the sys-tem may not operate in the fol-lowing conditions
  When the light from an on-
coming or front vehicle ispoor
When the light from an on- coming or front vehicle is notdetected because of lampdamage, or because it is hid-den from sight, etc.
When the lamp from an on- coming or front vehicle is cov-ered with dust, snow or water.
When a front vehicle’s head- lamps are off but the foglamps are on and etc.
  When external conditions

When there is a a lamp that has a similar shape as a vehi-cle’s lamps.

(Continued) When the headlamp is not repaired or replaced at anauthorized dealer.
When headlamp aiming is not properly adjusted.
When driving on a narrow curved road, rough road,downhill or uphill.
When only part of the vehicle in front is visible on a cross-road or curved road.
When there is a traffic light, reflecting sign, flashing signor mirror ahead.
When there is a temporary reflector or flash ahead (con-struction area).
When the road conditions are poor, such as when wet, icy, orcovered with snow.
When a vehicle suddenly appears from a curve.
When the vehicle is tilted from a flat tire or being towed.

  When front visibility is poor
When the lamp of an on-com- ing or front vehicle is coveredwith dust, snow or water.

When it is hard to see because of fog, heavy rain or snow andetc.

Turn signals and lane change
signals
The ignition switch must be on for the
turn signals to function. To turn on
the turn signals, move the lever up or
down (A). The green arrow indicators
on the instrument panel indicate
which turn signal is operating.
They will self-cancel after a turn is
completed. If the indicator continues
to flash after a turn, manually return
the lever to the OFF position.
To signal a lane change, move the
turn signal lever slightly and hold it in
position (B). The lever will return to
the OFF position when released.

Do not disassemble the front view camera for window tint-ing or installing any forms ofcoatings or accessories. Ifyou disassemble andreassemble the camera, takeyour vehicle to an authorizedK900 Kia dealer and have thesystem checked to see if a cal-ibration is needed.
When you replace or reinstall the windshield glass, or frontview camera, take your vehicleto an authorized K900 Kiadealer and have the systemchecked.
Be careful that water doesn’t get into the High Beam Assistunit and do not remove ordamage related parts of theHigh Beam Assist system.
Do not place objects on the crash pad that reflect light suchas mirrors, white paper, etc. Thesystem may not be able to func-tion if sunlight is reflected.

turn OFF the rear mood lamp.
Trunk room lamp
The trunk room lamp comes on
when the trunk is opened.
Vanity mirror lamp
Opening the lid of the vanity mirror
will automatically turn on the mirror
light.
* The actual sunvisor lamp in the vehi-
cle may differ from the illustration.
CAUTION
The trunk room lamp comes onas long as the trunk lid opens.To prevent unnecessary charg-ing system drain, close thetrunk lid securely after using thetrunk.

Glove box lamp
The glove box lamp comes on when
the glove box is opened.
To prevent unnecessary battery
drain, close the glove box securely
after using the glove box.
Door courtesy lamp
The door courtesy lamp comes ON
when the door is opened to assist
entering or exiting the vehicle. It also
serves as a warning to passing vehi-
cles that the vehicle door is open.

Always close the lid of the vani-ty mirror in the off positionwhen the vanity mirror lamp isnot in use. If the sunvisor isclosed without the lamp off, itmay discharge the battery ordamage the sunvisor.

If you want to defrost and defog the
front windshield, refer to “Windshield
defrosting and defogging” in this sec-
tion.
Rear window defroster
The defroster heats the window to
remove frost, fog and thin ice from
the rear window, while the engine is
running.
To activate the rear window
defroster, press the rear window
defroster button located in the center
facia switch panel. The indicator on
the rear window defroster button illu-
minates when the defroster is ON.
If there is heavy accumulation of
snow on the rear window, brush it off
before operating the rear defroster.
The rear window defroster automati-
cally turns off after approximately 20
minutes or when the ignition switch is
turned off. To turn off the defroster,
press the rear window defroster button
again.
Outside rearview mirror defroster
If your vehicle is equipped with the
outside rearview mirror defrosters,
they will operate at the same time you
turn on the rear window defroster.
DEFROSTER
CAUTION - Conductors
To prevent damage to the con-ductors bonded to the insidesurface of the rear window,never use sharp instruments orwindow cleaners containingabrasives to clean the window.

For maximum defrosting, set the
temperature control all the way to
the right/hot position and the fan
speed control to the highest speed.
If warm air to the floor is desired while defrosting or defogging, set
the mode to the floor-defrost posi-
tion.
Before driving, clear all snow and ice from the windshield, rear win-
dow, outside rear view mirrors, and
all side windows.
Clear all snow and ice from the hood and air inlet in the cowl grill to
improve heater and defroster effi-
ciency and to reduce the probabili-
ty of fogging up the inside of the
windshield.Automatic climate control

To defog inside windshield
1. Set the fan speed to the desired position.
2. Select desired temperature.
3. Press the defroster button ( ).
4. The outside (fresh) air position will be selected automatically and the
air conditioning will turn on
according to the detected ambient
temperature.
WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING
WARNING - Windshield

Do not use the or posi-
tion during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The
difference between the temper-
ature of the outside air and the
windshield could cause the
outer surface of the windshield
to fog up, causing loss of visi-
bility. In this case, set the mode
selection to the position
and fan speed control to the
lower speed.

Sunglass holder
To open the sunglass holder, press
the cover and the holder will slowly
open. Place your sunglasses with the
lenses facing out.
To close the sunglass holder, push it
up.
WARNING - Glove Box
To reduce the risk of injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always
keep the glove box door closed
while driving.WARNING- Sunglass holder
Do not keep objects except sun-
glasses inside the sunglass
holder. Heavier objects can be
thrown from the holder in the
event of a sudden stop or an
accident, possibly injuring the
passengers.

Do not open the sunglass holder while the vehicle ismoving. The rear view mirrorof the vehicle can be blockedby an opened sunglass hold-er.
Do not put glasses forcibly into the sunglass holder toprevent breakage or deforma-tion of the glasses. It maycause bodily injury if you tryto open it forcibly when glass-es are jammed in the holder.
