Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
System (if equipped)
The Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) sys-
tem is provided to help prevent exit-
ing the vehicle with the rear passen-
ger left in the vehicle.
1st alert- When you open the front doorafter opening and closing the rear
door and turning off the engine,
the “Check rear seats” warning
message appears on the cluster.
2nd alert - After the 1st alert the 2nd alertoperates when any movement is
detected in the vehicle after the
driver’s door is closed and all the
doors are locked. The horn will
activate for about 25 seconds. If
the system continues to detect a
movement the alert operates up
to 8 times.
- Unlock the door with the remote key or smart key to stop the alert.
- The system detects movement in the vehicle for 24 hours after the
door is locked. The Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
system may not operate nor-
mally if there is any vehicle or
obstacle at the rear area of
your vehicle.
The Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
system may not operate nor-
mally when a vehicle is com-
ing rapidly two lanes over
from your vehicle or a vehicle
is approaching at a fast speed
from the rear in the lane next
to your vehicle.
The Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
system may be activated later
than normal or may not oper-
ate normally if a vehicle is
approaching fast from the rear
of your vehicle.
CAUTIONThe Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
system will not operate if
there is a malfunction with the
Blind-Spot Collision Warning
(BCW) system as follows:
- When the BCW warning message appears
When the BCW sensor or
the sensor surrounding is
polluted or covered
- When the BCW does not warn or warns wrongly
For more details, refer to cau-
tions and limitations in "Blind-
Spot Collision Warning (BCW)"
in chapter 5.
The system does not detect
every obstacle approaching
the vehicle exit.
The driver and passenger are
responsible for any obstacles
while exiting the vehicle.
Always check the surrounding
before you exit the vehicle.

BVM (Blind-spot View Monitor) sys-
tem displays the driver-side or pas-
senger-side rear areas in the cluster
when the system is activated.
To turn on BVM system: Under condi-
tion BVM system is enabled in the
settings
1. The ignition switch is turned tothe ON position.
2. The turn signal is activated
To turn off BVM system
1. The ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
2. The turn signal is deactivated
3. The hazard warning flasher is on
4. A warning screen pops up and takes priority over the Blind-Spot
View Monitor system.System setting
With the engine ON, the Blind-spot
View Monitor system turns on and
gets ready to be activated when the
'User Settings →Driver Assistance
→ Blind-spot safety →Blind-spot
view' is selected on the cluster. The
system stops operation when the set-
ting is deactivated.
Convenient features of your vehicle
Like all assistance systems,
BVM system has limitations.
Over-reliance on the system
may result in a collision.
Always look around your vehi-
cle to make sure there are no
objects or obstacles before
moving the vehicle in any
direction to prevent a colli-
sion.
Objects are closer than they
appear. Failure to visually
confirm that is safe to change
the lane before doing so may
result in crash and serious
injury or death.
Always keep the camera lens
clean. The camera may not
work normally if the lens is
covered with foreign material.
CAUTION

Front camera
The front camera is a sensor detect-
ing the lane. If the sensor is covered
with snow, rain or foreign substance,
the system may temporarily be can-
celed. The system is canceled due to
the degradation of the sensor's
detection performance. Always keep
the sensor clean.
* Refer to Lane Keeping Assist(LKA) System for cautions for the
front camera sensor.
Rear radar
The rear radars are the sensors
inside the rear bumper for detecting
the side and rear areas. Always keep
the rear bumper clean for proper
operation of the system.
The system may not work
properly when the bumper
has been damaged, or if the
rear bumper has been
replaced or repaired.
The sensing range differs
somewhat according to the
width of the road. When the
road is narrow, the system
may detect other vehicles in
the next lane.
The system may turn off due
to strong electromagnetic
waves.
Always keep the sensors
clean.
NEVER arbitrarily disassem-
ble the sensor component nor
apply any impact on the sen-
sor component.
Be careful not to apply unnec-
essary force on the radar sen-
sor or sensor cover. If the sen-
sor is forcibly moved out of
proper alignment, the system
may not operate correctly. In
this case, a warning message
may not be displayed. Have
the vehicle inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Do not apply foreign objects
such as a bumper sticker or a
bumper guard near the radar
sensor or apply paint to the
sensor area. Doing so may
adversely affect the perform-
ance of the sensor.
NEVER install any acces-
sories or stickers on the front
windshield, nor tint the front
windshield.
Pay extreme caution to keep
the camera sensor out of
water.
NEVER locate any reflective
objects (i.e. white paper, mir-
ror) over the crash pad. Any
light reflection may cause a
malfunction of the system.
CAUTION

LKA System Operation
To activate/deactivate the LKA sys-
tem:
With the ignition switch in the ON
position, press the LKA system
switch located on the instrument
panel on the left hand side of the
steering wheel. The indicator in the
cluster display will initially illuminate
white. This indicates the LKA system
is in the READY but NOT ENABLED
state.
If you press the LKA button again,
the indicator on the switch and clus-
ter display will go off.
However, if the driver has their
hands on the steering wheel
again, the system will start con-
trolling the steering wheel.
The steering wheel is not con-
tinuously controlled so if the
vehicle speed is at a higher
speed when leaving a lane the
vehicle may not be able to be
controlled by the system. The
driver must always follow the
speed limit when using the
system.
If you attach objects to the
steering wheel, the system
may not assist steering or the
hands off alarm may not work
properly. When you tow a trail-
er, make sure that you turn off
the LKA system.
When you tow a trailer, make
sure that you turn off the LKA
system.
Please refer to "Limitations of
the system".
Do not remove or damage the
related parts of LKA system.
You may not hear a warning
sound of LKA system because
of excessive audio sound.
If any other warning sound
such as seat belt warning
chime is already generated,
the Lane Keeping Assist
(LKA) system warning may
not sound.
Do not place objects on the
dashboard that reflects light
such as mirrors, white paper,
etc. The system may malfunc-
tion if the sunlight is reflected.
Always have your hands on the
steering wheel while the LKA
system is activated. Also, when
Active LKA is selected from the
User Settings mode and if you
continue to drive with your
hands off the steering wheel
after the "Keep hands on steer-
ing wheel" warning message
appears, the system will stop
controlling the steering wheel.

Note that the vehicle
speed must be at least
approximately 40 mph
(64 km/h) to ENABLE the
LKA system. The indicator in the
cluster display will illuminate green.
The color of indicator will change
depending on the condition of LKA
system.
- White : Sensor does not detect
lane markers or vehicle
speed is under 40 mph (64
km/h).
- Green : Sensor detects lane mark- ers and the system is able
to control vehicle steering.
Information
If the indicator (white) is activated
from the previous ignition cycle, the
system will turn ON without any addi-
tional control. If you press the LKA
switch again, the indicator on the clus-
ter goes off.
LKA system activation
To see the LKA system screen onthe LCD display in the cluster,
select Assist mode ( ). For more
details, refer to "LCD Display
Modes" in chapter 3.

The Driver Attention Warning sys-
tem utilizes the camera sensor on
the front windshield for its opera-
tion. To keep the camera sensor in
the best condition, you should
observe the followings:
Do not disassemble the cameratemporarily to tint the window or
to attach any types of coatings
and accessories. If you disas-
semble a camera and assemble
it again, take your vehicle to an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
have the system checked for cal-
ibration.
NEVER install any accessories or stickers on the front wind-
shield, nor tint the front wind-
shield.
NEVER locate any reflective objects (i.e. white paper, mirror)
over the dashboard. Any light
reflection may cause a malfunc-
tion of the Driver Attention Alert
(DAW) system.
Pay extreme caution to keep the camera sensor out of water.
NOTICE
The Driver Attention Warning
(DAW) system may not properly
operate with limited alerting in
the following situations:
The lane detection perform-
ance is limited. (For more
details, refer to "Lane Keeping
Assist (LKA) system" in this
chapter.)
The vehicle is violently driven
or is abruptly turned for obsta-
cle avoidance (e.g. construc-
tion area, other vehicles, fallen
objects, bumpy road).
Forward drivability of the vehi-
cle is severely undermined
(possibly due to wide variation
in tire pressures, uneven tire
wear-out, toe-in/toe-out align-
ment).
The vehicle drives on a curvy
road.
The vehicle drives on a bumpy
road.
The vehicle drives through a
windy area.
