Persistent warning lamp
When the engine is running or the vehicle is
being driven, the illumination of a red or orange
warning lamp indicates a fault that needs
further investigation, using any associated
message and the description of the warning
lamp in the documentation.
Where a warning lamp remains lit
The references (1) (2) and (3) in the warning
and indicator lamp description indicate whether
you should contact a qualified professional
in addition to the immediate recommended
actions. (1 )
: You must stop as soon as it is safe to
do so and switch off the ignition.
(2): Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
(3) : Go to a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
STOP Fixed, associated with
another warning lamp,
accompanied by the
display of a message
and an audible signal. Indicates a serious fault with the
engine, braking system, power
steering, automatic gearbox or a
major electrical fault.
Carry out (1) and then (2).
Engine oil
pressure Fixed.
There is a fault with the engine
lubrication system. Carry out (1) and then (2).
Brakes Fixed. The brake fluid level has dropped
significantly. Carry out (1), then top up with brake fluid that complies
with the manufacturer's recommendations. If the
problem persists, carry out (2).

Dynamic stability control
(DSC) and anti-slip
regulation (ASR)
Activation
These systems are activated automatically
every time the vehicle is started.
As soon as they detect a problem of grip or
trajectory, these systems act on the operation
of the engine and brakes.This is indicated by flashing of this
warning lamp in the instrument
panel.
Deactivation/Reactivation
In exceptional conditions (moving a vehicle that
is bogged down in mud, stuck in snow, on loose
soil, etc.), it may prove useful to deactivate the
DSC/ASR systems, so that the wheels can
move freely and regain grip.
It is however recommended that the systems
be reactivated as soon as possible. These systems are reactivated automatically
every time the ignition is switched off, or from
31 mph (50
km/h).
However, below 31 mph (50 km/h), the systems
can be reactivated manually.
Deactivating using button or Grip control
Press this button or turn the dial to
this position.
The indicator lamp in the button or dial comes
on: the DSC/ASR systems no longer act on the
operation of the engine.
Deactivating using touch screen
Reactivating using button or Grip control Press this button.
Or Turn the dial to this position. The indicator lamp in the button or dial goes off.
In the " Driving/Vehicle " menu,
deactivate the DSC/ASR systems.
This is confirmed by the illumination
of this indicator lamp in the
instrument panel and the display of a
message.
The systems no longer have an effect on
engine operation. Reactivating using touch screen
Malfunction
Illumination of this warning lamp,
accompanied by the display of a
message and an audible signal,
indicates a fault with the system. In the "
Driving/Vehicle " menu,
activate the DSC/ASR systems.
This is confirmed by this indicator
lamp going out in the instrument
panel and the display of a message.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop to have the systems checked.

Safety

When the engine is hot, handle the
exterior safety catch and the bonnet
stay with care (risk of burns), using the
protected area.
When the bonnet is open, take care not to
damage the safety catch.
Do not open the bonnet under very windy
conditions.
The cooling fan may star t after
switching off the engine: take care
with articles and clothing that might be
caught by the fan blades.
Opening

Because of the presence of electrical
equipment under the bonnet, it is
recommended that exposure to water
(rain, washing, etc.) be limited.
Engine
Diesel
The diesel circuit is under very high
pressure.
All work on this circuit must be carried out
only by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
This engine is an example only. The location of
the dipstick and engine oil filler cap, as well as
the priming pump may vary. 1.
Screenwash and headlamp wash
reservoir.

6. Brake fluid filler cap.

8. Remote earth point ("-" terminal).

Checking levels
Check all of the following levels regularly in
accordance with the manufacturer's service
schedule. Top them up if required, unless
otherwise indicated.
If a level drops significantly, have the
corresponding system checked by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.

The fluids must comply with the
manufacturer's requirements and with the
vehicle's engine.
Take care when working under the bonnet,
as certain areas of the engine may be
extremely hot (risk of burns) and the
cooling fan could start at any time (even
with the ignition off).
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil or
fluids with the skin.
Most of these fluids are harmful to health
and very corrosive.Do not discard used oil or fluids into
sewers or onto the ground.
Empty used oil into the containers
reser ved for this purpose at a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.
Engine oil
The oil level is checked on a level
sur face with the engine stopped for
at least 30 minutes, either using the
oil level indicator in the instrument
panel when the ignition is switched
on (for vehicles equipped with an
electric gauge), or using the dipstick.
It is normal to top up the oil level between two
ser vices (or oil changes). It is recommended
that you check the level, and top up if
necessary, every 3,000
miles (5,000 km).
In order to maintain the reliability of the
engine and emissions control system,
never use additives in the engine oil.
Checking using the dipstick
The location of the dipstick is shown in the
corresponding underbonnet layout view.

ake the dipstick by its coloured grip and
pull it out completely.

ipe the end of the dipstick using a clean,
non-fluffy cloth.

efit the dipstick and push fully down, then
pull it out again to make the visual check:
the correct level is between marks A and B .A = MA X
B = MIN
Do not star t the engine if the level is:

dealer or a qualified workshop.

, then top up the engine oil
immediately.
Oil grade
Before topping up the oil or changing
the oil, check that the oil is the correct
grade for your engine and conforms to the
manufacturer's recommendations.Topping up the engine oil level

This additive must be topped up without delay
by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
AdBlue (BlueHDi)
An alert is triggered once the reser ve level is
reached.
For more information on the Indicators and in
particular the AdBlue range indicators, refer to
the corresponding section.
To avoid the vehicle being immobilised as per
regulations, you must top up the AdBlue tank.
For more information on AdBlue

to the corresponding section.
Checks
Unless otherwise indicated, check these
components in accordance with the
manufacturer's service schedule and according
to your engine.
Other wise, have them checked by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop. Only use products recommended by
CITROËN or products of equivalent quality
and specification.
In order to optimise the operation of
components as important as those in the
braking system, CITROËN selects and
offers very specific products.
12 V battery
The battery does not require any
maintenance.
However, check regularly that the
terminals are correctly tightened
(versions without quick release
terminals) and that the connections
are clean.
For more information on the precautions to
take before any work on the 12
V batter y,
refer to the corresponding section.
Versions equipped with Stop & Start are
fitted with a 12
V lead-acid battery of
specific technology and specification.
Its replacement should be carried out
only by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
Passenger compartment filter
Depending on the environment and
the use of the vehicle (e.g. dusty
atmosphere, city driving), change it
twice as often if necessar y .
A clogged passenger compartment
filter may have an adverse effect on
the per formance of the air conditioning
system and generate undesirable odours.
Air filter
Depending on the environment and
the use of the vehicle (e.g. dusty
atmosphere, city driving), change it
twice as often if necessar y .
Oil filter
Change the oil filter each time the
engine oil is changed.
