The short-term memory collects driving informa-
tion from the time the ignition is switched on un-
til it is switched off. If you continue driving within
two hours after switching the ignition off, the
new values are included when calculating the cur-
rent trip information.
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not erased automatically. You can se-
lect the time period for evaluating trip informa-
tion yourself.
Energy consumers*
The Energy consumers view lists other equip-
ment that is currently affecting fuel consump-
tion. The display shows up to three equipment
items. The equipment using the most power is
listed first. If more than three items using power
are switched on, the equipment that is currently
using the most power is displayed. A chart also
shows you the current total of all other consum-
ers.
Fuel consumption
The current fuel consumption can be shown using
a bar graph. The average consumption stored in
the short-term memory is also displayed. If the
bar is green, your vehicle is saving fuel through
one of the following functions:
— Recuperation: electrical energy can be stored in
the battery when the vehicle is coasting or driv-
ing downhill. The bar will move toward (1.
Engine oil and transmission temperature

Applies to: Engine oil and transmission temperature indicator
The engine oil and transmission temperature in-
dicator are only shown in the enhanced view or in
the sport view > page 13.
Engine oil temperature indicator =
The engine has reached its operating tempera-
ture when the engine oil temperature is between
176 °F (80 °C) and 248 °F (120 °C) under normal
driving conditions. The engine oil temperature
may be higher if there is heavy engine load and
high temperatures outside. This is not a cause for
concern as long as the E => page 233 or =
=> page 233 indicator lights do not turn on.
Transmission temperature indicator
The current transmission temperature is indicat-
ed by a bar.
Shift light indicator
Applies to: vehicles with shift light indicator
The shift light indicator informs the driver when
the rpm limit is reached.
Accessing the shift light indicator
Requirement: tiptronic mode must be activated
=> page 71.
> Select the sport view > page 13. The shift light
indicator is displayed with green, yellow and
red ranges in the upper areas of the tachome-
ter.
The shift light indicator will blink red when ap-
proaching the engine speed limit. Shift to the
next highest gear at the right time.
Sy Team e NE
Applies to: vehicles with sport displays
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the sport
displays may include the G-meter, the engine da-
ta and the tire pressure monitoring system. You
can access the sport displays in the central area
or in the additional display in the driver informa-
tion system.
Accessing the sport displays in the central
area
> Open the first Vehicle tab (trip computer) using
the|<>] button on the multifunction steering
wheel.
> Select on the multifunction steering wheel: left
control button > Sport displays.
> Turn the left thumbwheel on the multifunction
steering wheel until the desired sport display
appears in the instrument cluster.

display

G meter*
The G meter displays the longitudinal and lateral
acceleration. The maximum values that are
reached are stored and displayed when the vehi-
cle is stationary.
> To reset the stored values, select on the multi-
function steering wheel: right control button >
Reset values.
Engine data*
The engine data displays the current power and
torque.
Tire pressure monitoring system*
The tire pressure monitoring system displays the
current tire pressures and temperature. Also see
= page 261, Tire pressure monitoring system.
Messages
BRAKE/@)/‘C} Brake system
If this indicator light turns on, there is a malfunc-
tion in the brake system.
GG @ Brakes: stop vehicle and check brake
fluid level
Stop the vehicle and check the brake fluid level.
See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility for assistance.
Ga / @ Warning! No brake booster function
If the brake booster is not working, you have to
use much more force when braking the vehicle.
See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility for assistance.
BRE / ) Brakes: malfunction! Safely stop ve-
hicle
If the indicator light turns on and this message
appears, there is a malfunction in the brake sys-
tem.

function in the ABS, ESC, and braking distribu-
tion.
Do not continue driving. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as-
sistance > A\.
GG /o Parking brake: malfunction! Safely
stop vehicle. See owner's manual
— If the indicator light and the message appear
when the vehicle is stationary or after switch-
ing the ignition on, check if you can release the
parking brake. If you cannot release the parking
brake, see an authorized Audi dealer or author-
ized Audi Service Facility. If you can release the
parking brake and the message still appears,
see an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Au-
di Service Facility immediately to have the mal-
function corrected.
— If the indicator light and message appear while
driving, the hill start assist or emergency brak-
ing function may be malfunctioning. It may not
be possible to set the parking brake or release
it once it has been set. Do not park your vehicle
on hills. See an authorized Audi dealer or au-
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance.
The fe) indicator light turns on when the brake
pads are worn. Drive to an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility immediately to
have the brake pads checked.
Applies to: USA models: The fe} indicator light
turns on together with the IBRAKE| indicator light.

ZA WARNING
— If the brake fluid level is below the MIN
marking, it can impair the braking effect and
driving safety, which increase the risk of an
accident. Do not continue driving. See an au-
thorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility for assistance.
— If the brake system indicator light turns on
together with the ABS and ESC indicator
lights, the ABS/ESC regulating function may
be malfunctioning. Functions that stabilize
the vehicle are no longer available. This
could cause the rear of the vehicle to
swerve, which increases the risk that the >

— Hill hold assist cannot hold the vehicle in
place on all hills (for example, if the ground
is slippery or icy).
—To reduce the risk of an accident, always
make sure the vehicle is situated safely
while stationary.

Sporty driving
When driving in a sporty style, for example ona
driving track, the wear on all vehicle components
is greatly increased, especially on the engine,
transmission, tires, brakes, and suspension. This
can result in increased wear. Also note the fol-
lowing points:
— Make sure the vehicle is in good condition.
Make sure to check the brake pads, tire tread,
and tire pressure (when tires are warm).
— Beforehand, warm up the engine by driving no
higher than two-thirds of the maximum permit-
ted engine RPM. The engine oil temperature
must be brought to a minimum of 140 °F
(60 °C).
— Before stopping the vehicle, allow the engine
and brakes to cool back down to a regular oper-
ating temperature by driving normally.

Wear caused by load does not constitute a ve-
hicle fault as defined by the terms of the war-
ranty.
Automatic transmission
Introduction
Your vehicle is equipped with an electronically-
controlled DSG transmission called S tronic. Two
independent clutches transfer the power be-
tween the engine and transmission. It allows the
vehicle to accelerate without a noticeable inter-
ruption in traction.
The transmission shifts up or down automatically
depending on which drive program is selected.
When a moderate driving style is used, the
transmission selects the most economical driving
mode. The transmission upshifts at a lower RPM
and downshifts at a higher RPM to improve fuel
efficiency.
If desired, the driver can also select the gears
manually (tiptronic mode) > page 71.
Selecting a selector lever position

The current selector lever position is shown next
to the selector lever > fig. 73. The current selec-
tor lever position is also shown in the instrument
cluster display.
> You may need to release the selector lever lock
depending on which selector lever position is
selected and which one you would like to select.
> To do this, press the release button @ on the
selector lever > fig. 73.
> To engage the nearest selector lever position,
move the selector lever forward or back until
you feel the first pressure point. The selector
lever will return to its original position.
> To shift beyond the nearest selector lever posi-
tion, move the selector lever past the pressure
point into the desired position. The selector lev-
er will return to its original position.
For example, you can skip over the "N" position if
you would like to go directly from "D" into "R".
Selector lever lock
The selector lever lock reduces the risk of select-
ing a position unintentionally, which can cause
the vehicle to roll. When engaging some selector >

lever positions, you must press the release but-
ton @ on the selector lever and/or press the
brake pedal > fig. 73.
You must press the brake pedal to engage a se-
lector lever position when the engine is running
and the vehicle is stationary.
You do not have to press the brake pedal if you
shift from "D" to "R" within one second. This al-
lows you to “rock” the vehicle to free it when it is
stuck.
P - Park
The wheels are locked in this position. Only shift
into park when the vehicle is stationary > A\. To
select the "P" selector lever position, press the
"P" button 2) on the selector lever > fig. 73. P
appears next to the selector lever.
You can only shift out of park when the engine is
running and you are pressing the brake pedal. To
release the parking lock, press the brake pedal,
press the locking button @ on the selector lever
and select the desired selector lever position
> fig. 73.
P engages automatically when you switch the en-
gine off while D, S or R is engaged or in manual
mode.
If you switch the engine off when the N position
is selected, the transmission remains in N for ap-
proximately 20 minutes and then P is engaged.
You must use the parking lock emergency release
before towing the vehicle > page 73.
R - Reverse
The reverse gear is engaged in this position. Only
select reverse gear when the vehicle is stationary
and the engine is running at idle speed > A. To
engage the "R" selector lever position, press the
brake pedal, press the release button (@) on the
selector lever, and select the "R" position
> fig. 73.
A tone will sound when the reverse gear is engag-
ed.

N - Neutral (idle)
The transmission is in idle in this position. To en-
gage the N selector lever position, press the lock-
ing button @ on the selector lever and select the
N position > fig. 73 or pull both shift paddles at
the same time > page 71, fig. 75.
If you switch the engine off when the N position
is selected, the transmission remains in N for ap-
proximately 20 minutes and then P is engaged.
You cannot select the "N" position when the igni-
tion is switched off. When driving through an au-
tomatic car wash, first select the "N" position and
then turn the engine off.
For safety reasons, the vehicle cannot be locked
when the transmission is in the "N" position.
D/S - Driving forward
When the transmission is in the "D/S" position, it
can be operated either in the normal "D" mode or
in the "S" sport mode. Move the selector lever
back to engage the "S" sport mode. You can only
select the S selector lever position when "D" is
engaged. To select the "D" selector lever position
again when "S" is engaged, move the selector lev-
er back > A\. To shift from "N" to "D" when travel-
ing at speeds below 1 mph (2 km/h), press the
brake pedal and shift into the "D" position > A.
In the normal mode "D", the transmission auto-
matically selects the correct gear. It depends on
engine load, vehicle speed and driving style.
Select the sport mode "S" for sporty driving. The
vehicle makes full use of the engine's power.
Shifting may become noticeable when accelerat-
ing.
The "S" selector lever position engages automati-
cally when you select the dynamic mode in drive
select.
Additional driving programs are available when
you select the performance mode* > page 79.

Z\ WARNING
— Before starting to drive, check if the desired
selector lever position is displayed next to
the selector lever.

Driving

Towing.
— The transmission can overheat and be dam-
aged under certain driving and traffic condi-
tions such as frequent starts, creeping for a
long time, or stop-and-go traffic. When the
fs} or i] indicator light turns on, stop the
vehicle at the next opportunity and let the
transmission cool > page 72.
G) Tips
For safety reasons, the parking brake only re-
leases automatically when the driver's door is
closed.
Launch Control Program
The Launch Control Program enables maximum
acceleration.
Requirement: the engine and transmission must
be at operating temperature and the steering
wheel must not be turned. The performance
mode* must be selected or dynamic mode must
be selected in Audi drive select.

> With the engine running, press the |SOFF] but-
ton briefly one time).
> Press the brake pedal firmly with your left foot
and hold it all the way down for at least 1 sec-
ond.
> Press the accelerator pedal down completely at
the same time until the engine reaches a high
RPM that remains constant and the message
appears Launch control program: activated ap-
pears.
> Remove your left foot from the brake.


ZA WARNING
— Always adapt your driving to the traffic flow.
— Only use Launch Control when road and traf-
fic conditions allow it and other drivers will

not be endangered or impacted by your driv-
ing and the vehicle's acceleration.
— Please note that the drive wheels can spin
and the vehicle can break away when ESC
sport mode is switched on, especially when
the road is slippery.
— Once the vehicle has started moving, press
the |[& OFF] button briefly to turn the ESC
sport mode off again.



G@) Tips
— The transmission temperature may increase
significantly after using the launch control
program. If that happens, the program may
not be available for a few minutes. It will be
available again after a cool-down period.
— When accelerating using the launch control
program, all vehicle parts are subject to
heavy loads. This can lead to increased wear.

Assist systems

Audi drive select (drive
settings)
Drive select makes it possible to experience dif-
ferent types of vehicle characteristics in one vehi-
cle. The driver can select from four modes: Com-
fort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual using the
ssa button on the steering wheel or through the
Infotainment system to switch between a sporty
and a comfortable driving mode, for example. In
the Individual mode, the settings can be adjust-
ed to your personal preferences. This makes it
possible to combine settings such as a sporty en-
gine setting with light steering.

Z\ WARNING
Using Audi drive select incorrectly can lead to
collisions, other accidents and serious inju-
ries.
The vehicle setup in each mode depends on the
vehicle's features.

Engine and automatic transmission
Depending on the mode, the engine and auto-
matic transmission respond more quickly or in a
more balanced manner to accelerator pedal
movements.
Suspension control (Audi magnetic ride)*
The suspension control uses sensors to record in-
formation regarding steering movements, brak-
ing and acceleration operations by the driver, as
well as information about the road surface, driv-
ing speed, and load. With drive select, you can
adjust the suspension control to sporty (dynam-
ic), comfortable (comfort) or balanced (auto).
Steering
The power steering adapts. Indirect steering that
moves easily as in comfort mode is especially
suited to long drives on a highway. The dynamic
mode provides sporty, direct steering.

Torque distribution*
The all wheel drive distributes the drive power to
the rear axle based on the situation. The distribu-
tion of power varies depending on the selected
mode from moderate (Comfort) to sporty (Dy-
namic). The goal is a high level of agility and abil-
ity to accelerate on curves. The vehicle is very re-
sponsive to steering.
Engine sound
The engine sound adapts to the current mode
and can be subtle to sporty.
@ Tips
In some models, the maximum vehicle speed
can only be reached in the auto and dynamic
modes.
Selecting the driving mode
You can choose between comfort, auto, dynamic
and individual.

You can change the driving mode when the vehi-
cle is stationary or while driving. If traffic per-
mits, after changing modes, briefly remove your
foot from the accelerator pedal so that the re-
cently selected mode is also activated for the en-
gine.
Comfort - Results in a comfort-oriented vehicle

Auto - Provides an overall comfortable yet dy-
namic driving feel and is suited for everyday use.
Dynamic - Gives the driver a sporty driving feel
and is suited to a sporty driving style.

Setting the driving program
Depending on the driving mode selected, you can
select additional driving programs with the selec-
tor lever.
D/M - Driving forward
When the transmission is in the D/M position, it
can be operated either in the D normal mode or
in the M manual mode. To engage the M manual
mode, move the selector lever into the tiptronic
gate
or use the shift paddles. You can only select
the M selector lever position when D is engaged.
To engage D from the M selector lever position,
move the selector lever out of the tiptronic gate
to D/S or tap it once toward the rear > A\ in Se-
lecting a selector lever position on page 68. To
shift from N to D when traveling at speeds below
2 mph (2 km/h), press the brake pedal and shift
into the D position > A\ in Selecting a selector
lever position on page 68.
S/MS - Driving forward
When the transmission is in the S/MS position, it
can be operated either in the S sport mode or in
the MS manual mode. To engage the MS manual
mode, move the selector lever into the tiptronic
gate
or use the shift paddles. You can only select
the MS selector lever position when S is engaged.
To engage S from the MS selector lever position,
move the selector lever out of the tiptronic gate
to D/S or tap it once toward the rear > A\ in Se-
lecting a selector lever position on page 68. To
shift from N to S when traveling at speeds below
2 mph (2 km/h), press the brake pedal and shift
into the S position > A in Selecting a selector

M Performance - Driving forward
The transmission can be operated in the MS
mode when the selector Lever is in the M posi-
tion. To engage the manual “MS” performance
mode, press the performance mode button on
the steering wheel.
Performance mode
Applies to: vehicles with performance mode
The vehicle is configured in performance mode
for sporty driving.
The suspension setting, engine and transmission
characteristics change when driving in perform-
ance mode. It is switched on or off with the per-
formance mode button on the steering wheel.
Road conditions
Using the knob > page 78, fig. 82 2), you can op-
timize the vehicle settings for the current road
conditions (such as wet roads).

ZA WARNING
Please note that the stabilization functions
provided by the ESC and the ASR are limited
when performance mode is switched on. To
reduce the risk of sliding, only switch per-
formance mode on when your driving abilities
and the traffic situation permit.

Adjusting the Individual mode
You can adjust the vehicle settings to your personal preferences.
> Press the sist button > Individual > right con-
trol button, or
> Select in the Infotainment system: [MENU] but-
ton > Vehicle > left control button>Audi drive
select
> Individual > right control button


After you have closed the settings, you will auto-
matically drive in the Individual* mode.
The equipment in your vehicle will determine
which settings you can adjust. The following ta-
ble gives an overview of the characteristics.
