KNOWING YOUR CAR
22 Knob 4 enables the air introduced into the vehicle to reach all areas of the passenger compartment through five distribution
options:
μair from central and side vents and side diffusers;
∑air from central and side vents, side diffusers and footwell diffusers;
∂air from footwell diffusers;
∏air from footwell and side diffusers and from windscreen diffuser;
-air from windscreen diffuser and side diffusers.
2)The system uses a coolant that is compatible with the laws in force in the countries where the vehicle is sold, R134a or R-1234yf (indicated
on a specific plate in the engine compartment). The use of other coolants affects the efficiency and condition of the system. Also the
compressor coolants used must be compatible with the indicated coolant.

Warning lights on panelMeaningWhat to do
In any situation in which the message is “See manual”, it is
ESSENTIAL to refer to the contents of the “Wheels”
paragraph in the “Technical data” chapter, strictly
complying with the indications that you find there.
Low tyre pressure - See manual
The warning light switches on, together with a dedicated
message on the display, to indicate that the tyre pressure
is lower than the recommended value and/or that slow
pressure loss is occurring. In these circumstances, optimal
tyre duration and fuel consumption may not be
guaranteed.
Should two or more tyres be in the condition mentioned
above, the display will show the indications corresponding
to each tyre in sequence.
Contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership as soon as
possible. TPMS system fault
The warning light switches on when a fault is detected in
the TPMS.
Should one or more wheels be fitted without sensors, the
display will show a warning message until initial conditions
are restored.IMPORTANT Do not continue driving with one or more flat
tyres as handling may be compromised. Stop the vehicle,
avoiding sharp braking and steering. Repair immediately
using the dedicated kit (see “Repairing a wheel” paragraph
in the “In an emergency” chapter) and contact the
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership as soon as possible. TPMS SYSTEM
SAFETY
56
43)The presence of the TPMS does not
permit the driver to neglect regular
checks of the tyre pressure, including for
the spare wheel.
44)Tyre pressure must be checked with
tyres rested and cold. Should it become
necessary for whatever reason to check
pressure with warm tyres, do not reduce
pressure even though it is higher than the
prescribed value. Repeat the check when
the tyres are cold.
45)Should one or more wheels be fitted
without sensors, the system will no longer
be available and, in addition to the TPMS
warning light flashing for less than one
minute before becoming constant, a
warning message will be shown on the
display, until 4 wheels with sensors are
fitted again.
46)The TPMS cannot warn of sudden
decreases in tyre pressure (for example
when a tyre bursts). In this case, stop the
car, braking with caution and avoiding
abrupt steering.
47)Replacing standard tyres with winter
tyres (and vice versa) requires TPMS
adjustment that must only be performed
by a dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership.
IMPORTANT48)Changes in outside temperature may
cause tyre pressures to vary. The TPMS
system may temporarily indicate
insufficient pressure. In this case, check
the tyre pressure when cold and, if
necessary, restore the inflation values.
49)When a tyre is removed, it is
advisable to replace the rubber valve seal
as well: contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership. Tyre and/or rim
fitting/removal operations require
specific precautions; to avoid damaging
or fitting the sensors incorrectly, tyre
and/or rim fitting/removal operations
should only be carried out by specialised
staff. Contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership.
50)Strong radio-frequency interference
could inhibit the regular operation of the
TPMS. This condition will be indicated by
a message on the display. The message
will disappear automatically as soon as
the radio-frequency interference ceases
to affect the system.51)The tyre repair kit (“Fix&Go
Automatic”) provided with the car (where
provided) is compatible with the TPMS
sensors; using sealants not equivalent
with that in the original kit may adversely
affect its operation. If sealants not
equivalent with the original one are used,
it is recommended to have the TPMS
sensors checked by a qualified repair
centre.
SAFETY
66
61)Do not apply stickers or other objects
to the steering wheel or the passenger
side airbag cover. Do not place objects on
the passenger side of the dashboard
because these could interfere with the
correct opening of the passenger airbag
and cause injury to occupants.
62)Always drive keeping your hands on
the steering wheel rim so that the airbag
can inflate freely if necessary.
Do not drive with your body bent forward.
Keep your back straight against the
backrest.
63)Instructions for deactivating the
front passenger airbag can be found in
the “Menu Options” paragraph of the
“Knowing the instrument panel” chapter.
Please note that under these conditions
the airbag will NOT deploy when required
(accident).
64)Do not rest your head, arms or elbows
on the door to prevent injury during airbag
deployment.
65)Never lean head, arms or elbows out
of window.
IMPORTANT66)If the ¬warning light does not
switch on when the key is turned to MAR,
or stays on while driving (on some
versions, together with a message on the
display) there may be a fault in the
restraint systems. In this case, airbags or
pretensioners may not be activated in the
case of an accident or (in a lesser number
of cases) they may be activated
incorrectly. Before proceeding, contact a
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership to have
the system checked immediately.
67)Do not travel carrying objects on your
lap, in front of your chest or between your
lips (pipe, pencils, etc.): they could cause
severe injury if the airbag is deployed.
68) If the car has been subject to theft,
attempted theft, vandalism, or flooding,
have the airbag system inspected at a
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership.
69)The airbags may also be deployed
when the car is not moving, if the key is
inserted and turned to MAR even when
the engine is off, if the car is hit by
another moving vehicle. Also remember
that no safety device (airbags or
pretensioners) will be deployed in the
event of impact when the key is at STOP.
Non-deployment of these devices under
these circumstances does not therefore
indicate a system malfunction.70)When the ignition key is turned to
MAR, the
“warning light comes on
constantly for the first 4 seconds.
Then, if the warning light remains on, this
means the passenger’s protection has
been deactivated; if the warning light
switches off, instead, the passenger’s
protection is enabled.
71)The front airbag is designed to be
deployed for impacts of a greater
intensity than for the pretensioners. For
impacts whose intensity falls between
the two levels, normally, only the
pretensioners will be activated.
72)The airbag does not replace seat
belts but increases their efficiency.
Because front airbags are not deployed
for low-speed frontal impacts, side
collisions, rear shunts or rollovers,
occupants are protected only by their
seat belts, which must always be
fastened.

CHANGING A WHEEL
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
For some specific markets, the car may
be equipped with a space-saver spare
wheel: see the instructions on the
following pages for changing the tyre.
95) 96) 97) 98) 99)
JACK
Please note that:
❒ the weight of the jack is
approximately1.7 kg;
❒ the jack requires no adjustment;
❒ the jack cannot be repaired: in the
event of a fault it must be replaced by
another original one;
❒ no tool other than its operating rod
may be fitted on the jack.
Jack maintenance
❒ prevent any dirt from depositing on
the “worm screw”;
❒ keep the “worm screw” lubricated.
❒ never modify the jack.
Conditions in which not to use the jack
❒ temperatures lower than – 40°C;
❒ on a sandy or muddy ground;
❒ on uneven ground;
❒ on a road with steep gradient;
❒ in extreme weather conditions:
❒ thunderstorms, typhoons, hurricanes,
blizzards, storms, etc.
❒ in direct contact with the engine or for
working underneath the car;
❒ on boats.
To change a wheel, proceed as follows:
❒ stop the car in a position that is not
dangerous for oncoming traffic where
you can change the wheel safely.
The ground must be flat and sufficiently
compact;
❒ switch off the engine, pull up the
handbrake and engage the 1st gear or
reverse. Wear the reflective safety jacket
(compulsory by law) before getting out of
the vehicle;

106)As required by current regulations,
the information on chemical substances
for the protection of human health and
the environment and on the safe use of
the sealing fluid are on the packaging
label. Compliance with the indications on
the label is an essential condition to
ensure the safety and the effectiveness
of the product. Remember to carefully
read the label before use; the user of the
product is responsible for any damages
caused by improper use. The sealing fluid
has an expiry date. Replace the bottle if
the sealant has expired.
107)Wear the protective gloves
provided with the kit.
108)Apply the adhesive label where it
can be easily seen by the driver as a
reminder that the tyre has been treated
with the quick repair kit. Drive carefully,
especially on corners. Do not exceed
80 km/h. Avoid sudden acceleration or
braking.
109)If the pressure has fallen below 1.8
bar, do not drive any further: the Fix&Go
Automatic quick tyre repair kit cannot
guarantee proper hold because the tyre is
too damaged. Contact a dedicated Alfa
Romeo Dealership.
110)Always indicate that the tyre was
repaired using the quick tyre repair kit.
Give the leaflet to the personnel charged
with handling the tyre treated with the
tyre repair kit.
12)Punctures caused by foreign bodies
can be repaired if the damage does not
exceed 4 mm on the tread and on the
shoulder of the tyre. Do not use the repair
kit if the tyre was damaged as a result of
being used when underinflated.
WARNING
3)Dispose of the bottle and the sealant
properly. Have them disposed of in
compliance with national and local
regulations.

SERVICING AND CARE
102
SCHEDULED SERVICING
Correct servicing is crucial for
guaranteeing a long life for the vehicle
under the best conditions.
This is why Alfa Romeo has programmed
a series of checks and servicing
operations every 20,000 km.
Check the items on the Scheduled
Servicing Plan (e.g. periodically check
level of liquids, tyre pressure, etc.)
before 20,000 km and then between the
services deadlines.
Scheduled Servicing is offered by the
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership at
predefined intervals. If, during each
operation, in addition to the ones
scheduled, the need arises for further
replacements or repairs, these may be
carried out with the owner’s explicit
agreement only.
IMPORTANT NOTES
2000 km before the maintenance is due,
a dedicated message appears on the
display, along with warning light.
Scheduled Servicing interventions are
set out by the Manufacturer. Failure to
have them carried out may invalidate the
warranty.
It is advisable to inform the dedicated
Alfa Romeo Dealership of any small
operating irregularities without waiting
for the next service.
