check and, if necessary, top up the
following:
❒ engine coolant level;
❒ brake fluid;
❒ windscreen washer fluid;
❒ tyre inflation pressure and condition;
❒ operation of lighting system
(headlights, direction indicators, hazard
warning lights, etc.);
❒ operation of windscreen

Carry out the check with the vehicle
parked on level ground.
DEMANDING USE OF THE CAR
If the vehicle is used mainly under one of
the following conditions:
❒ trailer or caravan towing;
❒ dusty roads;
❒ short repeated distances (less than
7-8 km) and with external temperatures
below zero;
❒ engine often idling or driving long
distances at low speeds or long periods
of inactivity;
❒ you should perform the following
inspections more frequently than shown
in the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
❒ check front disk brake pad conditions
and wear;
❒ check cleanness of locks, bonnet and
boot and lever cleanness and lubrication;
❒ visually inspect condition of: engine,

NOZZLES
Windscreen washer
The windscreen washer nozzles are
adjustable fig. 98. They are originally
adjusted at the factory.
Should it be necessary to adjust them
again, contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership.
98A0L0087115)Driving with a worn windscreen
wiper blade is a serious hazard, because
visibility is reduced in bad weather.
IMPORTANT
20)Do not operate the screen wiper with
the blades lifted from the windscreen.
WARNING
BATTERY
The battery 1 fig. 99 does not require
the electrolyte to be topped up with
distilled water. A periodic check carried
out at a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership is, however, necessary to
check efficiency.

another original battery with the same
specifications. Follow the battery
manufacturer’s instructions for
maintenance.
SERVICING AND CARE
114
126)Battery fluid is poisonous and
corrosive. Avoid contact with the skin and
eyes. Keep open flames away from the
battery and do not use objects that might
create sparks: risk of explosion and
fire.
127)Using the battery with insufficient
fluid irreparably damages the battery
and may cause an explosion.
128)If the car will be unused for an
extended period of time in extremely cold
weather conditions, remove the battery
and store it in a heated area to prevent it
from freezing.
129)Always wear appropriate goggles
when working on or near the battery.
IMPORTANT
21)Incorrect assembly of electrical and
electronic accessories may cause severe
damage to your vehicle. After purchasing
your vehicle, if you wish to install any
accessories (anti-theft, etc.), go to a
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership, which
will suggest the most suitable devices and
advise you whether a higher capacity
battery needs to be installed.
WARNING
5)Batteries contain substances which are
very dangerous for the environment. For
battery replacement, contact a dedicated
Alfa Romeo Dealership.
WARNING
RAISING THE CAR
If raising the car is necessary, contact a
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership, who
will be equipped with suitable arm or
workshop lifts, in addition to the specific
equipment necessary.
It is however possible to use suitable
lowered hydraulic jacks to raise the car if
necessary.
The car lifting points are marked on the
side skirts with the symbols (see
points illustrated in fig. 100).
