–Pull one of the paddles toward the steeringwheel and then release.
"-": Shift down one gear.
"+": Shift up one gear.
As long as the engine speed (rpm) is within thepermissible range for the selected gear, a gearshift will take place each time a paddle is pulled.
After each gear shift, a number indicating thecurrent gear will be displayed in the instrumentpanel.

Turning off Start/Stop
Manual deactivation in gear D and B
–Deactivate the paddles by pulling the rightpaddle (+) toward the steering wheel andholding it until the number of the currentgear is no longer displayed in the instrumentpanel.
>The transmission will revert to gear D or Bdepending on which gear was selectedbefore the paddles were activated.

Automatic deactivation
In gear position D, the steering wheel paddlesare deactivated after a short period of time if theyare not used. The number of the current gear willno longer be displayed in the instrument panel.
In gear position B, the paddles will not activateautomatically.

Shiftlock
The automatic transmission's shiftlock functionhelps prevent inadvertently moving the gearselector between different positions.
Automatic shiftlock
The automatic shiftlock has a separate safetysystem.

From Park - P
To move to another gear from P (Park), the brakepedal must be depressed and the ignition inmode II.

From Neutral - N
If the gear selector is in N and the vehicle hasbeen stationary for at least 3 seconds (with orwithout the engine running), the gear selector willbe locked in that position.
To move the gear selector from N to anothergear, the brake pedal must be depressed and theignition in mode II.

Messages in the instrument panel
If the gear selector is locked in position, a mes-sage will appear in the instrument panel, e.g.Gear lever Press brake pedal to activategear lever.
There is no mechanical shiftlock function.

ECO Climate
In Pure mode, ECO climate is automatically acti-vated in the passenger compartment to helpreduce energy consumption.

NOTE
When the Pure drive mode is activated, set-tings for certain climate system and electricityconsuming functions are reduced. Some ofthese settings can be reset manually, but fullfunctionality will only be restored by leavingPure mode or adapting the Individual drivemode to full climate system functionality.
If condensation forms on the windows, tap themax defroster button, which will function normally.

AWD
Improves the vehicle's traction and handlingby increasing all-wheel drive.
This drive mode locks the vehicle in all-wheeldrive. An optimal distribution between front andrear axle torque helps provide the best possiblecontrol, stability and traction, e.g. on slipperyroads or when towing a heavy trailer or anothervehicle. The AWD drive mode is always availableregardless of the hybrid battery's charge status.
Both the combustion engine and the electricmotor are engaged to enable all-wheel drive,which results in higher fuel consumption.
In the other drive modes, the vehicle automati-cally adapts the need for all-wheel drive accord-ing to the road surface, and can activate the elec-tric motor or start the combustion engine as nee-ded.
POWER
Power mode is designed to provide sportierdriving characteristics and a faster accelera-tion response.
This drive mode maximizes the combined powerfrom the combustion engine and the electricmotor by providing power to both the front andrear wheels. Gear shifting will be faster and moredistinct and the transmission will prioritize gearswith a higher traction force. Steering response isfaster and suspension is stiffer.
Both the combustion engine and the electricmotor are engaged to enable all-wheel drive,which results in higher fuel consumption.
This drive mode is optimized for maximum per-formance and throttle response. It changes thethrottle response, gear shifting program andturbo boost system. Chassis settings and steer-ing and brake response are also optimized. ThePower drive mode is always available regardlessof the hybrid battery's charge status.

INDIVIDUAL
Customizes drive mode to personal preferen-ces.
Select one of the drive modes as a basis andadjust the settings to achieve your preferred driv-ing characteristics. These settings will be storedin your driver profile.
Individual drive mode is only available if it hasbeen activated in the center display.

CAUTION
Parts of the vehicle (e.g. engine, transmission,driveline, electrical components, etc.) can bedamaged if the vehicle is driven through waterhigher than its floor level. Damage to anycomponents caused by flooding, vapor lock orinsufficient oil is not covered under warranty.
If the engine stalls while the vehicle is inwater, do not attempt to restart it. Have thevehicle towed on the bed of a tow truck to aworkshop - an authorized Volvo workshop isrecommended.

CAUTION
Because it can be difficult to determine thewater depth, avoid driving through standing orrunning water.
When you have passed the water, press lightly onthe brake pedal and check that the brakes arefunctioning properly. Water, mud, slush, etc. canmake the brake linings slippery, resulting indelayed braking effect.
If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer couplingcontact, clean the contact after driving in water ormud.

Opening/closing the fuel filler door
A button on the instrument panel is used tounlock the fuel filler door.
An arrow next to the fuel pumpsymbol in the instrument panelindicates the side of the vehicleon which the fuel filler door islocated.
1. Press the button on the dashboard.
> Pressure equalization in the fuel tank cau-ses a slight delay before the fuel fillerdoor opens. Fuel tank Fuel lid isopening will be displayed in the instru-ment panel, followed by Fuel tank Readyfor refueling.

4.Avoid overfilling the tank. Do not press thehandle on the filler nozzle again after it hasinitially stopped pumping.
>The fuel tank is now filled.

NOTE
An over-full tank may overflow in hot weather.

CAUTION
Avoid spilling gasoline during refueling. Inaddition to causing damage to the environ-ment, gasolines containing alcohol can causedamage to painted surfaces, which may notbe covered under the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty.

Refueling from a fuel container
When filling from a fuel container, use the funnelprovided in a foam block under the floor hatch inthe cargo compartment.
1. Open the fuel filler door.
2. Insert the funnel into the fuel filler pipe'sopening. There are two flaps just inside thefuel filler pipe and the tube section of thefunnel must push both of these flaps openbefore fuel can be added.

Volvo recommends the use of detergent gaso-line to control engine deposits.
Deposit control gasoline (gasoline with
detergent additives)
Detergent gasoline is effective in keeping injec-tors and intake valves clean. Consistent use ofdeposit control gasolines will help ensure gooddriveability and fuel economy. If you are not surewhether the gasoline contains deposit controladditives, check with the service station operator.

NOTE
Volvo recommends not using external fuelinjector cleaning systems, e.g. do not adddetergent additives to gasoline before or afterrefueling.

Unleaded fuel
All Volvo vehicles have a three-way catalytic con-verter and must only use unleaded gasoline. USand Canadian regulations require that pumpsdelivering unleaded gasoline are labeled"UNLEADED". Only the nozzles of these pumpswill fit in your vehicle's fuel filler inlet. It is unlaw-ful to dispense leaded fuel into a vehicle labeled"unleaded gasoline only". Leaded gasoline dam-ages the three-way catalytic converter and theheated oxygen sensor system. Repeated use ofleaded gasoline will lessen the effectiveness of

1.Put the ignition in mode 0.
2.Make sure the auxiliary battery (the batteryused to jump start the discharged battery)has a voltage of 12 volts.
3.If the auxiliary battery is in another vehicle,turn off that vehicle's engine and make surethat the vehicles are not touching each other.
4. Clamp the red jumper cable onto the auxiliarybattery's positive (+) terminal (1).

CAUTION
Connect the jump cable carefully to preventshort circuits with other components in theengine compartment.
5. Fold back the cover over your vehicle's posi-tive (+) jump start terminal (2).
6. Clamp the other end of the red jumper cableto your vehicle's positive (+) jump start termi-nal (2).
7.Clamp the black jumper cable onto the auxili-ary battery's negative (-) terminal (3).
8. Clamp the other end of the black jumpercable to your vehicle's negative (-) groundpoint (4).
9. Make sure the jumper cables are securelyattached to help prevent sparks while jumpstarting.
10. Start the engine of the assisting vehicle andlet it run for a few minutes at a higher idlingspeed than normal, about 1500 rpm.
11. Start your vehicle's engine. If the enginedoes not start, allow an additional 10minutes of charging time and then try to startthe engine again.
NOTE
When the engine is started under normalconditions, the vehicle's electrical drive motoris prioritized – the gasoline engine remainsoff. This means that the electric motor has"started" and the vehicle is ready to be drivenonce the start knob has been turned clock-wise. Start of the electric motor is indicatedby the indicator lights on the instrument panelgoing out and its preselected theme illuminat-ing.

CAUTION
Do not touch the connections between thecable and the vehicle during the start attempt.Risk of sparking.
12. Remove the jumper cables in the reverseorder ‒ first the black cables and then thered cables.
Make sure that none of the clamps of theblack jumper cables come into contact witheither vehicle's positive (+) jump start termi-nals or either of the red jumper cable's con-nected clamps.

Batteries generate hydrogen gas, whichis flammable and explosive.

Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid. Do notallow battery fluid to contact eyes, skin,fabrics or painted surfaces.

Attaching and removing the towingeyelet
Use the towing eyelet to tow another vehicle.Screw the towing eyelet securely into place inthe threaded outlet behind the cover on theright-hand side of the rear bumper.

NOTE
If the vehicle is equipped with a towbar, thereis no rear attachment for the towing eye.

Take out the towing eyelet, which is stored ina foam block under the floor in the cargo
compartment7.
Remove the cover - press the marker withyour finger while prying open the oppositeside/corner open with a coin or similar.
> The cover turns along its center line andcan then be removed.
3.Screw in the towing eyelet until it reaches itsstop.
Fasten the eyelet securing by, for example,inserting a lug wrench* through it and usingthis as a lever.

CAUTION
It is important that the towing eye is screwedin securely as far as possible.

–Unscrew the towing eyelet after use andreturn it to its storage location in the foamblock.
Replace the cover on the bumper.

2. Tap CommunicationVehicle Wi-FiHotspot.
3.Tap Network name to assign a name to thehotspot.
4.Tap Password and create a password. Thispassword can then be used to connect otherdevices to this hotspot.
5.Tap Frequency band and select a fre-quency for the hotspot to use to transmitdata. Please note that selecting a frequencyis not possible on all markets.
6. Activate/deactivate by tapping to check/uncheck the Vehicle Wi-Fi Hotspot box.
7. If Wi-Fi is being used to connect to the Inter-net, confirm the change of connections.
>It is now possible for external devices toconnect to the vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspot.

NOTE
Activation of Wi-Fi hotspot can cause addi-tional charges from your network operator.
Contact your network operator about datatraffic costs.
The connection status is shown by a symbol inthe center display's status bar.

Factors affecting the Internet connection.
The amount of data transmitted depends on theservices or apps currently in use in the vehicle.Streaming music, for example, involves the trans-mission of a large amount of data, and thisrequires a good connection and a strong signal.

Phone to vehicle
Internet connection speed may vary dependingon the location of the cellular phone in the vehi-cle. Move the phone closer to the center displayto increase signal strength. Make sure that noth-ing is between the phone and center display thatcould be blocking the signal.

Phone to network operator
The speed of the mobile network varies depend-ing on the coverage in the vehicle's current loca-tion. Coverage may be poorer in e.g. tunnels,mountainous areas, deep valleys or indoors. Con-nection speed is also dependent on the subscrip-tion you have with your service provider.

If you experience any problems with data traf-fic, contact your network service provider.

When changing wheels
The wheels can be changed, e.g. to switch tosnow tires or spare tires. Follow the applicableinstructions for removing and installing thewheel.

Changing to tires of another dimension
Make sure that the tire dimension is approved foruse on the vehicle.
If you change to tires of another dimension, con-tact an authorized Volvo workshop to update thevehicle's software. A software update may benecessary when changing to tires of larger/smaller dimensions or when changing to or fromsnow tires.
