Plug-in hybrid system precautions
The illustration is an example for explanation and may differ from the
actual item.
Take care when handling the hybrid system, as it contains a high
voltage system (about 600V at maximum) as well as parts that
become extremely hot when th e hybrid system is operating.
Obey the caution labels attached to the vehicle.

Outside/recirculated air mode
●When driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic , set
to the recirculated air mode. This is effective in preventing outside air from
entering the vehicle interior. During cooling operation, setting the recircu-
lated air mode will also cool the vehicle interior effectively.
● Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch dependin g on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
■ Fresh air intake system while parking
When parking, the system automatically switches to outside air mode to
encourage better air circulation throughout the vehicle, helpin g to reduce
odors that occur when starting the vehicle.
■ Operation of the air conditioning system in the air conditionin g eco
mode
● In the air conditioning eco mode, the air conditioning system i s controlled as
follows to prioritize fuel efficiency:
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict h eating/
cooling capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
● To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations:
• Adjust the fan speed
• Adjust the temperature setting
• Turn off the air conditioning eco mode
● When the driving mode is set to Eco driving mode, the air condi tioning eco
mode will be turned on automatically. Even in this case, the ai r conditioning
eco mode can be turned off by pressing . ( P. 415)
■ When the outside tempera ture falls to nearly 32F (0 C)
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed.

■ Ventilation and air conditioning odors
●To let the fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode.
● During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle m ay enter into
and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then ca use odor to
be emitted from the vents.
● In order to suppress odors that occur when the air conditioning system
starts, fresh air is automatically taken in when parked.
● To reduce potential odors from occurring, the start timing of t he blower may
be delayed for a short period of time immediately after the air conditioning
system is started in automatic mode.

WARNING
■Pre-driving check
Check that the hood is fully closed and locked.
If the hood is not locked properly, it may open while the vehic le is in motion
and cause an accident, which may result in death or serious inj ury.
■ To prevent burns
■ After installing the sup port rod into the slot
Make sure the rod supports the hood securely from falling down on to your
head or body.
■ When closing the hood
NOTICE
■When closing the hood
Be sure to return the supporting rod to its clip before closing the hood. Clos-
ing the hood without returning the support rod properly could c ause the
hood to bend.
Do not touch the air conditioning pipes
when the air conditioning compressor is
operating or after it is stopped, because
the air conditioning pipes are hot.
Touching by hands before the air condi-
tioning pipes cool down may cause
burns.
When closing the hood, take extra care
to prevent your fingers etc. from being
caught.

When trouble arises
Take out the repair kit from the plastic bag.
Remove the valve cap from the
valve of the punctured tire.
Extend the hose. Remove the
air release cap from the hose.
Attach the sticker enclosed with
the bottle on the specified loca-
tions. (See step .)
You will use the air release cap
again. Therefore keep it in a safe
place.
Connect the hose to the valve.
Screw the end of the hose clock-
wise as far as possible.
Make sure that the compressor
switch is off.
