When using this child restraint system, adjust the second seat back to
5th lock position from the 1st lock position (most upright position), and
move the second seat to the rear most lock position.
*2: When you use a child restraint system in this position, remove the head
restraint, adjust the second seat back to 5th lock position from the 1st
lock position (most upright position), and move the second seat to the
6th lock position from rear most lock position, and adjust the child seat
head restraint 4th lock position from most highest position.
The child restraint system mentioned in the table may not be available
outside of the EU area.
Other child restraint system which is different from the system men-
tioned in the table can be used.
But the suitability of the systems must be carefully checked with the

Before flattening the seatbacks
Stop the vehicle in a safe place.
Apply the parking brake firmly and shift the shift position to P. (P. 234)
Slide the second seats as far back as possible. (P. 191)
■Flattening the seatbacks
Move the front seat forward
and remove the head
restraint. (P. 199)
Tilt the front seatback to the
same height as the rear seat
cushion.
To return the seats, reverse the procedure.
After returning the seats to their original position, make sure to replace
the head restraint.

■Head restraint precautions
Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints. Failure to
do so may result in death or serious injury.
● Use the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
● Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
● After adjusting the head restraints, push down on them and make sure
they are locked in position.
● Do not drive with the head restraints removed.

NOTICE
■Cleaning detergents
● Do not use the following types of detergent, as they may discolor the vehi-
cle interior or cause streaks or damage to painted surfaces:
• Non-seat portions: Organic substances such as benzene or gasoline,
alkaline or acidic solutions, dye, and bleach
• Seats: Alkaline or acidic solutions, such as thinner, benzene, and alco-
hol
● Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel’s or other
interior part’s painted surface may be damaged.
■ Preventing damage to leather surfaces
Observe the following precautions to avoid damage to and deterioration of
leather surfaces:
● Remove any dust or dirt from leather surfaces immediately.
● Do not expose the vehicle to direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
Park the vehicle in the shade, especially during summer.
● Do not place items made of vinyl, plastic, or containing wax on the uphol-
stery, as they may stick to the leather surface if the vehicle interior heats
up significantly.
■ Water on the floor
Do not wash the vehicle floor with water.
Vehicle systems such as the audio system may be damaged if water comes
into contact with electrical components such as the audio system above or
under the floor of the vehicle. Water may also cause the body to rust.
■ When cleaning the inside of the windshield (vehicles with Toyota
Safety Sense)
Do not allow glass cleaner to contact the lens. Also, do not touch the
lens.( P. 261)
■ Cleaning the inside of the rear window
● Do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window, as this may cause
damage to the rear window defogger heater wires. Use a cloth dampened
with lukewarm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe the window in
strokes running parallel to the heater wires.
● Be careful not to scratch or damage the heater wires.
