FUEL RECOMMENDATION:
Gas engine only
Use unleaded regular gasoline with an oc-
tane rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock
Index) number (Research octane number
91).
CAUTION
∙ Using a fuel other than that specifiedcould adversely affect the emission
control system, and may also affect
the warranty coverage.
∙ Under no circumstances should a leaded gasoline be used, because this
will damage the three-way catalyst.
∙ Do not use E-15 or E-85 fuel in your vehicle. Your vehicle is not designed to
run on E-15 or E-85 fuel. Using E-15 or
E-85 fuel in a vehicle not specifically
designed for E-15 or E-85 fuel can ad-
versely affect the emission control
devices and systems of the vehicle.
Damage caused by such fuel is not
covered by the NISSAN New Vehicle
Limited Warranty. ∙ Do not use fuel that contains the oc-
tane booster methylcyclopentadienyl
manganese tricarbonyl (MMT). Using
fuel containing MMT may adversely
affect vehicle performance and ve-
hicle emissions. Not all fuel dispens-
ers are labeled to indicate MMT con-
tent, so you may have to consult your
gasoline retailer for more details.
Note that Federal and California laws
prohibit the use of MMT in reformu-
lated gasoline.
∙ U.S. government regulations require ethanol dispensing pumps to be iden-
tified by a small, square, orange and
black label with the common abbre-
viation or the appropriate percentage
for that region.

tion” section of this manual.
Diesel engine only
For additional information, refer to “Fuel

ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATION:
Gas engine only ∙ Genuine “Nissan Motor Oil 0W-20” (or equivalent).
For additional information, refer to “Engine
oil and oil filter recommendations” in the
“Technical and consumer information” sec-
tion of this manual.
Diesel engine only
For additional information, refer to “Engine
oil recommendation” in the Titan Diesel
Owner’s Manual.
COLD TIRE PRESSURE:
Refer to the Tire and Loading Information
label.
The label is typically located on the driver
side center pillar or on the driver’s door. For
additional information, refer to “Wheels and
tires” in the “Do-it-yourself ” section of this
manual.
GAS STATION INFORMATION

CAUTION
Your vehicle may require more frequent
maintenance if it operates on biodiesel
blends between 6% and 10% (B6 and
B10). To avoid damage to your vehicle,
the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter will need
to be replaced af ter a shorter time in-
terval than if your vehicle was operat-
ing on pure petroleum-based diesel.

“Maintenance and schedules” section in
the Titan Owner’s Manual.
FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT (stage
1)
NOTE:∙ It is possible the “Low Fuel Pressure:
See Owner’s Manual” message will
display on the vehicle information
display af ter fuel filter replacement
due to air being introduced into the
fuel system. ∙
If the “Low Fuel Pressure: See Owner’s
Manual” message is displayed on the
vehicle information display with the
engine running, complete a full key
cycle (turn the vehicle off and wait
2 minutes) and restart the vehicle. If
the message is still displayed or the
Malfunction Indicator Light is illumi-
nated af ter a full key cycle , it is rec-
ommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for service.
WARNING
∙ The fuel system (fuel pump, high pres- sure fuel lines, fuel rail, injectors) con-
tain very high pressure fuel. To avoid
the risk of personal injury or fire;
– Do not loosen any fittings while the engine is running.
– Wait at least 10 minutes af ter shut- ting down the engine before loos-
ening any fittings in the high-
pressure fuel system to allow
pressure to decrease to a lower
level.
– Wear appropriate eye protection and protective equipment as high-
pressure fuel spray can penetrate
the skin.

INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Do not pre-fill the fuel filter with fuel.
Pre-filling the filter can result in debris
entering the fuel system and damaging
fuel system components.10. Inspect the fuel filter element
1for the
No Filter No Run (NFNR) pin
Hand re-
place fuel filter element if pin is dam-
aged or missing.
NOTE:
A broken/sheared NFNR pin can cause
the pump to operate without supplying
fuel pressure.
11. Lubricate the inner seal of the fuel filter element with petroleum jelly or white
lithium grease. 12. Install a new o-ring on the housing. Lu-
bricate the o-ring with petroleum jelly
or white lithium grease.
NOTE:
If you are using a new fuel filter housing
that has not had fuel in it, lubricate the lip
seal at the bottom of the fuel filter ele-
ment with petroleum jelly or white
lithium grease before placing it into the
housing.
13. Install the fuel filter element into the fuel filter housing and make sure the four
tabs

14. Install the fuel filter housing on the module.
Fuel filter housing tightening torque: 18 f t-lb (25 N·m)
CAUTION
Always use a socket on the hex on the
bottom of the fuel filter housing to as-
sist in proper installation. Failure to
torque as required may result in a fuel
leak and a no start condition.

15. Connect the wiring harness to thewater-in-fuel sensor.
16. Reinstall the fuel filter housing (stage 1) protector.
17. Connect the lef t and right side batter- ies.
18. Prime the fuel system. For additional information, refer to “Fuel system prim-
ing” in this section.

Manual” message is displayed on the
vehicle information display with the

ment) in the work area. Never allow
diesel fuel to spill onto a hot ex-
haust manifold which can cause a
fire.
∙ Batteries can emit explosive gases. To reduce the possibility of personal in-
jury, always ventilate the compart-
ment before servicing the batteries.
To reduce the possibility of arcing, re-
move the negative (-) battery cable
first and attach the negative (-) bat-
tery cable last.
∙ When using a steam cleaner, wear safety glasses or a face shield, as well
as protective clothing. Hot steam can
cause serious personal injury.
∙ Wear appropriate eye and face pro- tection when using compressed air.
Flying debris and dirt can cause per-
sonal injury.
CAUTION
Clean all around the filter area before
disassembly. Dirt or contaminants can
damage the fuel system.
REMOVAL
WARNING
∙ Depending on the circumstance, fuelis flammable. When inspecting or per-
forming service or repairs on the fuel
system, to reduce the possibility of
fire and resulting severe personal in-
jury, death, or property damage, never
smoke or allow sparks or flames (such
as pilot lights, electrical switches, or
welding equipment) in the work area.
∙ Do not bleed the fuel system of a hot engine; this can result in fuel spilling
onto a hot exhaust manifold, which
can cause a fire.
1. Push the ignition switch to the OFF po- sition and wait 2 minutes before dis-
connecting the battery.
2. Disconnect the lef t and right side bat- teries.
