The emergency key is built into the F.A.S.T.- key.When the F.A.S.T.-key cannot be used, such as when the battery of the F.A.S.T.-key or the vehicle has run down, the emergency key can be used to lock and unlock the passenger’s door. To use the emergency key (A), unlock the lock knob (B) and remove it from the F.A.S.T.-key (C).
Turn the emergency key toward the front of the vehicle to lock the door. After checking that the door is locked, turn the emergencykey back to the center and remove it.

With the Mitsubishi mark facing you, insert the cloth-cov-ered tip of a flat bladescrewdriver into the notch in the case and use it to open the case.
4. Remove the old battery. 5. Install a new battery with the + side (A) up. 6. Close the case firmly. 7. Install the emergency key removed in step2. 8. Check the keyless entry system to see that it works.

The main switch located on the driver’s door can be used to operate all the windows. A window can be opened or closed by operat-ing the corresponding switch. Press the switch down to open the window, and pull up the switch to close it.If the driver’s door window switch is fully pressed down/pulled up, the driver’s door window automatically opens/closes com-pletely. (Type 1) If the driver’s door window switch is fully pressed down, the driver’s door window auto-matically opens completely. (Type 2) If you want to stop the window movement, operate the switch lightly in the reverse direc-tion.
CAUTION When loading the trunk, place your things so that they will not touch the emergency trunklid release lever when you close the trunk.Otherwise you could damage the lever and make it unusable.

To remove the key
CAUTION If the engine is stopped while driving, the power brake booster will cease to functionand braking efficiency will deteriorate. Also, the power steering system will not function and it will require gr

the “ON” position for
a long time when the engine is not running. Doing so will cause th
e battery to be dis-
charged. Do not turn the key to the “START” position when the engine is running, doing so coulddamage the starter motor.

This model is equipped with an electronically controlled fuel injection system. This is a sys-tem that automatically controls fuel injection. There is usually no need to depress the accel- erator pedal when starting the engine.The starter should not be run for more than 15 seconds at a time. To prevent battery drai
n, wait a few seconds
between attempts to restart the engine. 1. Make sure all occupants are properly seated with seat belts fastened.
2. Insert the ignition key. 3. Make sure the parking brake is applied.4. Press and hold the brake pedal down firmly with your right foot. 5. Press and hold the clutch pedal all the waydown (manual transaxle). 6. On vehicles equippe

If your vehicle breaks down on the road, move to the shoulder and turn on the hazard warning flashers. If there is no shoulder, orthe shoulder is not safe, drive in the right lane slowly with the haza
rd lights flashing until
you come to a safe stopping place. Keep theflashers flashing. If the engine stops, there will be no power assist to the steering and brakes, making these difficult to use.  The brake booster will not work, so the brakes will not grip well. The brake pedal will be harder to press than usual.  Since there is no power steering assist, the steering wheel will be hard to turn.
Get help from your passengers, bystanders, etc. to push the vehicle
and move it to a safe
area.
