Start Assist Hill
Start Assist holds theve hicle for a short
time when pulling away on a hill under thefo l‐
lowing conditions:
R The transmission is in position 005Bor005E.
R The elect ric pa rking brake is released.
This gives you enough time tomo veyour foot
from the brake pedal tothe accelera tor pedal
and depress it before theve hicle begins toroll. &

HOLD function
The HOLD function holds

assis tance when driving and is not a su fficient
means of safeguarding theve hicle against rolling
aw ay when stationar y.
R The incline must not be greater than 30%.

When you unload luggage or lea vetheve hi‐
cle, theve hicle firs trises slightly and then
re turns tothe set le vel shortly af terw ards.
Yo u or an yone else in the vicinity of the
wheel ar ches or the underbody could thus
become trapped.
The vehicle can also be lo wered af ter being
loc ked. #
When leaving theve hicle, make sure
th at nobody is in the vicinity of the
wheel ar ches or the underbody. Re

re ar view camera 1is shown in the multimedia
sy stem. Dynamic guide lines show the path the
ve hicle will take with thesteering wheel in its
cur rent position. This helps youto orient your‐
self and toavoid obs tacles when ba cking up. The
rear view camera is on lyan aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe maneu vering and
pa rking remains with you. Make sure that there
are no persons, animals or objects etc., in the
maneu vering area while maneu vering and pa rk‐
ing.

If a course-cor
recting brake application occu rs,
th ere dwa rning lamp flashes in the outside mir‐
ro r and a warning tone sounds. In addition, a dis‐
pl ay 1 indicating the danger of a side collision
appears in the multifunction displa y.
In rare cases, the sy stem may make an inappro‐
priate brake application. This brake application
may be inter rupte d at any time if yousteer
slightly in the opposite direction or accelera te.
Sy stem limitations
Either a course-cor recting brake application
appropria teto the driving situation, or none at
all, may occur in thefo llowing situations:
R Vehicles or obs tacles, e.g. crash ba rriers, are
located on bo thsides of your vehicle.
R Ave hicle approaches too closely on the side.
R You ha veadop ted a sporty driving style with
high cornering speeds.
R You brake or accelerate significantl y.
