REMOTE START
The climate control system adjusts theinterior temperature during remote start.
You can switch this feature on or off andadjust the settings using the informationdisplay controls. See Information Displays(page 120).
You cannot adjust the climate control settingduring remote start operation. Switch theignition on to make adjustments.
Based on your remote start settings, thefollowing vehicle-dependent features mayor may not remain on after remote startingyour vehicle:
•Climate controlled seats.
•Heated steering wheel.
•Heated mirrors.
•Heated rear window.
•Windshield wiper de-icer.
Note:For dual zone climate controlled seats,the passenger seat setting defaults to matchthe driver seat during remote start.
Automatic Settings
If Auto is on, the system sets the interiortemperature to 72°F (22°C) and heats orcools the vehicle interior as required toachieve comfort.
Note:In cold weather, the heated rearwindow and heated mirrors turn on.
Last Settings
If Last Settings is on, the system uses thesettings last selected before you turned offthe vehicle.
Heated and Cooled Features
In Auto mode, certain heated features mayswitch on during cold weather, and cooledfeatures during hot weather.

Recalling and Changing a Profile
You can recall a profile by:
•Using a keyfob that has been linked to adriver profile to access the remote startfeature, press an unlock button or openthe door with the exterior door handle.
•Pressing a memory seat button that hasbeen linked to a driver profile.
•Using the Personal Profiles menu on theSYNC touchscreen.
Note:The recalled profile replaces thepreviously active profile. If the active profileis not your desired profile, you can changeit using any of the three methods listed.
When you switch on the personal profilesfeature:
•Unlocking a door with a keyfob that isnot linked to a driver profile recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile. It will not change the positionalsettings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that isnot linked to a driver profile or has notbeen saved to a preset setting recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile. It will not change the positionalsettings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that isnot linked to a driver profile but has beensaved to a preset setting recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile. It recalls the positional settingsthat you saved to that memory seatbutton.

When you switch off the personal profilesfeature:
•Unlocking a door with a keyfob recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile and still recalls positional settingsfrom the driver profile which the keyfobhad been linked to.
•Pressing a memory seat button that hasnot been linked to a driver profile or hasnot been saved to a preset setting recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile. It will not change the positionalsettings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that hasbeen linked to a driver profile or hassaved to a preset setting recallsnon-positional settings from the guestprofile. It recalls the positional settingsthat you saved to that memory seatbutton.

Seats

The heated seat module resets at everyignition run cycle. While the ignition is on,press the high or low heated seat switch toenable heating mode. When activated, theywill turn off automatically when you turn theengine off.

Heated Seats
WARNING: People who are unableto feel pain to their skin because ofadvanced age, chronic illness, diabetes,spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion or other physical conditions,must use caution when using the heatedseat. The heated seat may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not placeanything on the seat that may block theheat, such as a blanket or cushion. This
can cause the heated seat to overheat. Donot puncture the seat with pins, needlesor other pointed objects. This damages theheating element and can cause the heatedseat to overheat. An overheated seat maycause serious personal injury.
Note:The heated seats switch on during aremote start if they are enabled through theinformation displays. See GeneralInformation (page 120).
Note:The heated seats may also switch onwhen you start your vehicle if they were onwhen you previously switched your vehicleoff.
Note:Do not do the following:
•Place heavy objects on the seat.
•Operate the seat heater if water or anyother liquid spills on the seat. Allow theseat to dry thoroughly.
Press this symbol to cycle through thevarious heat settings and off. More indicatorlights indicate warmer settings.
Ventilated Seats
Note:The ventilated seats switch on duringa remote start if they are enabled throughthe information displays. See GeneralInformation (page 120).

Do not use the system in these conditions because it may not detectany vehicles ahead.Water, snow or ice on the surface of the road may interfere with theradar signals.
Wait a short time or switch to normal cruise control.You are in a desert or remote area with no other vehicles and noroadside objects.
Due to the nature of radar technology, it is possible to get a blockage warning with no actual block. A false blocked condition either selfclears, or clears after you restart your vehicle.
Switching to Normal Cruise Control
WARNING: Normal cruise control willnot brake when your vehicle isapproaching slower vehicles. Always beaware of which mode you have selectedand apply the brakes when necessary.
The cruise control indicator lightreplaces the adaptive cruisecontrol indicator light if you selectnormal cruise control. The gap setting doesnot display, and the system does not respondto lead vehicles. Automatic braking remainsactive to maintain set speed.
You can change from adaptive cruise controlto normal cruise control through theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 120).

•Make sure that you have the correcttire and wheel size.
•Lubricate the tire bead and wheelbead seat area again.
•Stand at a minimum of 12 ft (3.66 m)away from the wheel and tire
assembly.
•Use both eye and ear protection.
WARNING: For a mountingpressure more than 20 psi (1.38 bar)greater than the maximum pressure,a Ford dealer or other tire serviceprofessional should do the mounting.
WARNING: Always inflate steelcarcass tires with a remote air fill withthe person inflating standing at aminimum of 12 ft (3.66 m) away fromthe wheel and tire assembly.
Important: Remember to replace thewheel valve stems when the road tiresare replaced on your vehicle.
The two front tires or two rear tiresshould generally be replaced as a pair,except if the vehicle is equipped withfour wheel drive. Vehicles equipped withfour wheel drive should have all fourtires replaced simultaneously. Unevenlyworn tires, mismatched makes, modelsor brands can be different in size,resulting in potential damage to the fourwheel drive system.
The tire pressure sensors mounted inthe wheels are not designed to be usedin aftermarket wheels.
The use of wheels or tires notrecommended by us may affect theoperation of your tire pressuremonitoring system.
If the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator is flashing, the system ismalfunctioning. Your replacement tiremight be incompatible with your tirepressure monitoring system, or somecomponent of the system may bedamaged.
Safety Practices
WARNING: If your vehicle is stuckin snow, mud or sand, do not rapidlyspin the tires; spinning the tires cantear the tire and cause an explosion.A tire can explode in as little as threeto five seconds.
WARNING: Do not spin thewheels at over 34 mph (55 km/h). Thetires may fail and injure a passengeror bystander.
Driving habits have a great deal to dowith your tire mileage and safety.

*Avoid fast starts, stops and turns
*Avoid potholes and objects on the road
*Do not run over curbs or hit the tireagainst a curb when parking

Updating Your System
You can choose to download the updateonto a USB drive or use Wi-Fi to deliverautomatic updates.
USB Updates
To use the USB update you need to log intoyour owner account and visit the SYNCsoftware update page.

The website notifies you if an update isavailable. You can then select to downloadthe update.
You will need an empty USB drive. Pleasecheck the website for minimumrequirements. Once you have inserted theUSB drive into your computer, choose to startthe download. Follow the instructionsprovided to download the files to the USBdrive.
The installation of most files occurs in thebackground, and does not interrupt your useof the system. Navigation updates cannot beinstalled in the background, because the filesare too large.
To install the update in your vehicle, removeanything that is plugged in the USB ports onthe media hub and plug in the USB drivecontaining the update. When the USB driveis plugged in, the installation should beginimmediately. After a successful installation,the update is available the next time thevehicle is started.
