PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys withrestricted driving modes to promote gooddriving habits. All but one of the keysprogrammed to the vehicle can be activatedwith these restricted modes.
Any keys that have not been programmedare referred to as administrator keys oradmin keys. They can be used to:
•Create a MyKey.
•Program configurable MyKey settings.
•Clear all MyKey features.
When you have programmed a MyKey, youcan access the following information usingthe information display:
•How many admin keys and MyKeys areprogrammed to your vehicle.
•The total distance your vehicle hastraveled using a MyKey.
Note:All MyKeys are programmed to thesame settings. You cannot program themindividually.
Note:For vehicles equipped with apush-button start switch: When both a MyKeyand an admin key are present when youstart your vehicle, the system recognizes theadmin key only.
Non-configurable Settings
The following settings cannot be changedby an admin key user:
•Belt-Minder or safety belt reminder. Youcannot disable this feature. The audiosystem will mute when the front seatoccupants’ safety belts are not fastened.
•Early low fuel. The low fuel warning isactivated earlier, giving the MyKey usermore time to refuel.
•Driver assist features, if equipped on yourvehicle, are forced on: parking aid, blindspot information system (BLIS), crosstraffic alert, lane departure warning andforward collision warning system.
•Satellite radio adult content restrictions(available only in some markets).
Configurable Settings
With an admin key, you can configure certainMyKey settings when you first create aMyKey and before you recycle the key orrestart the vehicle. You can also change thesettings afterward with an admin key:
•A vehicle speed limit can be set.Warnings will be shown in the display,followed by an audible tone when yourvehicle reaches the set speed. Youcannot override the set speed by fullydepressing the accelerator pedal or bysetting cruise control.
WARNING: Do not set MyKeymaximum speed limit to a limit that willprevent the driver from maintaining a safespeed considering posted speed limits andprevailing road conditions. The driver isalways responsible to drive in accordancewith local laws and prevailing conditions.Failure to do so could result in accident orinjury.

MyKey™

Fold-Away Exterior Mirrors
Push the mirror toward the door windowglass. Make sure that you fully engage themirror in its support when returning it to itsoriginal position.
Heated Exterior Mirrors
See Heated Exterior Mirrors (page 128).
Memory Mirrors
You can save and recall the mirror positionsthrough the memory function. See MemoryFunction (page 135).
Auto-dimming Feature
The driver exterior mirror automatically dimswith the auto-dimming interior mirror.
Direction Indicator Mirrors
While the vehicle is running, theforward-facing portion of the appropriatemirror housing blinks when you switch onthe direction indicator.
Puddle Lamps
The lamps on the bottom part of the mirrorhousing light when you use your transmitterto unlock the doors or when you open adoor.
Integrated Blind Spot Mirror (If Equipped)
WARNING: Objects in the blind spotmirror are closer than they appear.
Blind spot mirrors have an integrated convexmirror built into the upper outboard cornerof the exterior mirrors. They can assist youby increasing visibility along the side of yourvehicle.
Check the main mirror first before a lanechange, then check the blind spot mirror. Ifno vehicles are present in the blind spotmirror and the traffic in the adjacent lane isat a safe distance, signal that you are goingto change lanes. Glance over your shoulderto verify traffic is clear, and carefully changelanes.

This feature operates when the vehicle is onor in accessory mode. Limit the time of usewhen the vehicle is in accessory mode toavoid the battery running out of charge. Youshould only use this feature when the vehicleis running.
Flip the console lid forward, then lift off thecover to open the cooling compartment.Make sure to replace the cover after usingit. This helps maintain a more consistentcooling temperature.

When you switch the system on and itdetects an unintentional drift out of your laneis likely to occur, it notifies or assists you tostay in your lane through the steering systemand information display. Depending on thefeature operation mode you select, thesystem provides a warning by vibrating thesteering wheel or a steering assistance bygently counter steering your vehicle backinto the lane.
Switching the System On and Off
Note:The system stores the on or off settinguntil you manually change it, unless itdetects a MyKey™. If the system detects aMyKey, it defaults to on and the mode is setto alert.
Note:If the system detects a MyKey™,pressing the button does not affect the onor off status of the system.
Press the button on the centerconsole to switch the system on oroff.
System Settings
The system has optional setting menusavailable. See General Information (page105). The system stores the last-knownselection for each of these settings. You donot need to readjust your settings each timeyou switch the system on.
Mode (if equipped): This setting allows youto select which of the system features youcan enable.
Alert only – Provides a steering wheelvibration when the system detects anunintended lane departure.
Note:Some vehicles only have the alertfunction.

System Limitations
WARNING: The collision warningsystem’s brake support can only helpreduce the speed at which a collisionoccurs if the driver applies the vehicle’sbrakes. The brake pedal must be pressedjust like any typical braking situation.
Due to the nature of radar technology, theremay be certain instances where vehicles donot provide a collision warning. Theseinclude:
•Stationary vehicles or vehicles movingbelow 6 mph (10 km/h).
•Pedestrians or objects in the roadway.
•Oncoming vehicles in the same lane.
•Severe weather conditions (see blockedsensor section).
•Debris build-up on the grille near theheadlamps (see blocked sensor section).
•Small distance to vehicle ahead.
•Steering wheel and pedal movementsare large (very active driving style).
If the front end of the vehicle is hit ordamaged, the radar sensing zone may bealtered causing missed or false collisionwarnings. See your authorized dealer to haveyour collision warning radar checked forproper coverage and operation.
DRIVE CONTROL (If Equipped)
Lincoln Drive Control
Lincoln Drive Control delivers the Lincolndriving experience through a suite ofsophisticated electronic vehicle systems.These systems continuously monitor yourdriving inputs and the road conditions tooptimize ride comfort, steering, handling,powertrain response and sound. You canpreset your preferences for these systemswithin the information display. Lincoln DriveControl will respond to your preferencesbased on what gear position you select. Thisprovides a single location to control multiplesystems performance settings.
Lincoln Drive Control consists of thefollowing systems:
•Adaptive suspension dynamically adjuststhe shock absorbers stiffness in real timeto match the road surface and driverinputs. This system continuously monitorsyour vehicle’s motion, suspensionposition, load, speed, road conditionsand steering to adjust the suspensiondamping for optimal vehicle control.
•Electronically power-assisted steeringadjusts steering effort and feel based onyour vehicle speed and your inputs.
•Active noise control utilizes your vehicleelectronics to enhance the acousticexperience.
•Electronic stability control and tractioncontrol maintain your vehicle control inadverse conditions or high performancedriving.
•Electronic throttle control enhances thepowertrain response to your inputs.
