
GENERAL INFORMATION ON
RADIO FREQUENCIES
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCCRules and with Licence exempt RSSStandards of Industry Canada. Operation issubject to the following two conditions:
•This device may not cause harmfulinterference, and
•This device must accept any interferencereceived, including interference that maycause undesired operation.
WARNING: Changes or modificationsnot expressively approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void theuser's authority to operate the equipment.The term "IC:" before the radio certificationnumber only signifies that Industry Canadatechnical specifications were met.
The typical operating range for yourtransmitter is approximately 33 ft (10 m).Vehicles with the remote start feature willhave a greater range. One of the followingcould cause a decrease in operating range:
•weather conditions
•nearby radio towers
•structures around the vehicle
•other vehicles parked next to yourvehicle
Other short-distance radio transmitters, suchas amateur radios, medical equipment,wireless headphones, remote controls andalarm systems may operate on the samefrequency as your remote control. If othertransmitters are operating on thosefrequencies, you may not be able to use yourremote control. Using your remote controlnear some types of electronic equipment,such as USB devices, computers or cellphones can interfere with remote operation.Operating your remote control near metal ormetallic-finished purses, bags or clothing caninterfere with remote operation. You can lockand unlock the doors with the key.
Note:Make sure to lock your vehicle beforeleaving it unattended.
Note:If you are in range, the remote controlwill operate if you press any buttonunintentionally.
Intelligent Access
The system uses a radio frequency signal tocommunicate with your vehicle and authorizeyour vehicle to unlock when one of thefollowing conditions are met:
•You touch the inside of any exterior doorhandle within 3 ft (1 m) proximity of anintelligent access key.
•You press the luggage compartmentbutton.
•You press a button on the transmitter.
If excessive radio frequency interference ispresent in the area or if the transmitterbattery is low, you may need to mechanicallyunlock your door. You can use themechanical key blade in your intelligentaccess key to open the driver door in thissituation. See Remote Control (page 60).

REMOTE CONTROL
Intelligent Access Key
The remote control operate the power locksand the remote start system. The key mustbe in your vehicle to use the push buttonstart.
The remote control also contains aremovable key blade that you can use tounlock your vehicle. Slide the release on theback of the remote control to release the keyblade, then pull the blade out.
Note: Your vehicle keys came with asecurity label that provides important keycut information. Keep the label in a safeplace for future reference.
Replacing the Battery
Note:Refer to local regulations whendisposing of the remote control batteries.
Note:Do not wipe off any grease on thebattery terminals or on the back surface ofthe circuit board.
Note: Replacing the battery does not erasethe programmed key from your vehicle. Thetransmitter should operate normally.
The remote control uses one coin-typebattery.
1. Remove the key blade from the remotecontrol.
2. Twist a thin coin under the tab hiddenbehind the key blade head to removethe battery cover. Do not use the keyblade to remove the cover or you coulddamage it.

•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
•The service engine soon indicator wason the last time your vehicle was driven.
Remote Starting your Vehicle
Note: You must press each button withinthree seconds of each other. If you do notfollow this sequence, your vehicle does notstart remotely, the direction indicators donot flash twice and the horn does not sound.
To start your vehicle remotely:
1. Press the lock button to lock all thedoors.
2.Press the remote start button twice. Theexterior lamps flash twice.
The horn sounds if the system fails to start,unless quiet start is on. Quiet start runs theblower fan at a slower speed to reducenoise. You can switch this feature on or offin the information display. See GeneralInformation (page 105).
Note:You must press the push buttonignition switch on the instrument panel oncewhile applying the brake pedal beforedriving your vehicle.
The power windows do not work duringremote start and the radio does not turn onautomatically.
The parking lamps remain on and the vehicleruns for 5, 10 or 15 minutes, depending onthe setting.
Extending the Engine Running Time
To extend the engine running time durationof your vehicle during remote start, repeatsteps 1 and 2 while the engine is running. Ifthe duration is set to 10 minutes, the durationextends by another 10 minutes. For example,if your vehicle had been running from thefirst remote start for 5 minutes, your vehiclecontinues to run now for a total of 20minutes. You can extend the remote startup to a maximum of 35 minutes.
Wait at least five seconds before remotestarting after the engine stops running.
Turning Your Vehicle Off After RemoteStarting
Press the button once. Theparking lamps switch off.
You may have to be closer to your vehicleto remotely switch off your vehicle afterremote starting. This is due to the addednoise of your running vehicle.
You can switch this feature on or off in theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 105).

Memory Feature
You can program the remote control to recallmemory setting positions. See MemoryFunction (page 135). Press the unlock buttonon the remote control to recall the memorypositions.

Replacement keys or remote controls canbe purchased from an authorized dealer.Authorized dealers can program remotecontrols for your vehicle. See PassiveAnti-Theft System (page 77).

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING
You can use the power door lock control orthe remote control to lock and unlock yourvehicle.
Power Door Locks
The power door lock control is on the driverand front passenger door panels.

You can use the remote control at any time.
Unlocking the Doors (Two-Stage Unlock)
Press the button to unlock thedriver door.
Press the button again within threeseconds to unlock all doors. The directionindicators will flash.
Press and hold both the lock and unlockbuttons on the remote control for threeseconds to change between driver door orall doors unlock mode. The directionindicators will flash twice to indicate achange to the unlocking mode. Driver doormode only unlocks the driver door when youpress the unlock button once. All door modeunlocks all doors when you press the unlockbutton once. The unlocking mode appliesto the remote control, keyless entry keypadand intelligent access.
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock all doors. The direction indicators will flash.
Press the button again within three secondsto confirm that all the doors are closed. Thedoors will lock again, the horn will sound andthe direction indicators will flash if all thedoors and the liftgate are closed.
Note:If any door or the liftgate is open, or ifthe hood is open on vehicles with ananti-theft alarm or remote start, the horn willsound twice and the direction indicators willnot flash.
Locking and Unlocking the Doors withthe Key Blade
Locking with the Key
Turn the top of the key toward the front ofyour vehicle.
Unlocking with the Key
Turn the top of the key toward the rear ofyour vehicle.
Note: If the child safety locks are on andyou pull the interior handle, you only switchoff the emergency locking, not the childsafety lock. You can only open the doorsusing the external door handle.

Opening a Rear Door From the Inside
Pull the interior door handle twice to unlockand open a rear door. The first pull unlocksthe door and the second pull opens the door.
Activating Intelligent Access
You can unlock and lock the vehicle withouttaking the keys out of your pocket or pursewhen your intelligent access key is within3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle. Intelligent accessuses a sensor on the back of the door handlefor unlocking and a separate sensor on theface of each door handle for locking.
The system will not function if:
•Your vehicle battery has no charge.
•The key battery has no charge.
•The passive key frequencies are jammed.
Note:The system may not function if thepassive key is close to metal objects orelectronic devices, for example keys or acell phone.
Note:If the system does not function, usethe key blade to lock and unlock yourvehicle. See Remote Control (page 60).
Unlocking Using Intelligent Access
With your intelligent access key within 3 ft(1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock sensoron the back of the door handle for a briefperiod and then pull on the door handle tounlock, being careful to not touch the locksensor at the same time or pulling the doorhandle too quickly. The intelligent accesssystem requires a brief delay to authenticateyour intelligent access key fob.
Locking Using Intelligent Access
With your intelligent access key within 3 ft(1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer doorhandle lock sensor for approximately onesecond to lock, being careful to not touchthe unlock sensor on the back of the doorhandle at the same time. After locking, youcan immediately pull on the door handle toconfirm locking occurred withoutinadvertently unlocking.
At the Liftgate
Press the exterior liftgate release button onthe top of the liftgate pull-cup handle. SeePower Liftgate (page 74).
Smart Unlocks for Intelligent AccessKeys
This helps to prevent you from locking yourkey inside the passenger compartment orrear cargo area.

When you electronically lock your vehiclewith any door open, the transmission is inpark (P) and the ignition is off, the systemsearches for an intelligent access key insideyour vehicle after you close the last door. Ifthe system finds a key, all of the doors willimmediately unlock and the horn will soundtwice, indicating that a key is inside.
You can override the smart unlock featureand intentionally lock the intelligent accesskey inside your vehicle.
To override smart unlock, lock your vehicleafter you have closed all doors by:
•Using the keyless entry keypad.
•Pressing the lock button on anotherintelligent access key.
•Touching the locking area on the front ofthe door handle with another intelligentaccess key in your hand.
When you open one of the front doors andlock your vehicle using the power door lockcontrol, all doors will lock then unlock if:
•The ignition is on.
•The ignition is off and the transmissionis not in park (P).
Autolock
Autolock locks all the doors when all of thefollowing occur:
•All doors are closed.
•The ignition is on.
•You shift into any gear putting yourvehicle in motion.
•Your vehicle attains a speed greater than4 mph (7 km/h).
Autounlock
Autounlock unlocks all the doors when all ofthe following occur:
•The ignition is on, all the doors are closedand your vehicle has been in motion ata speed greater than 4 mph (7 km/h).
•Your vehicle comes to a stop and youswitch the ignition off or to the accessoryposition.
•You open the driver door within 10minutes of switching the ignition off or toaccessory.
Note:If you electronically lock your vehicleafter you switch the ignition off with thedriver door closed, the doors will notautounlock.
Enabling or Disabling Autounlock
To enable or disable autounlock, do thefollowing:
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
3. Switch the ignition off.
4. Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
5.Switch the ignition on. The horn soundsindicating your vehicle is in programmingmode.
6. Press the power door lock control andwithin five seconds, press the power doorunlock control. The horn sounds once ifdisabled or twice if enabled.
7.Switch the ignition off. The horn soundsindicating programming is complete.

Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and some exterior lampsilluminate when you unlock the doors withthe remote control.
The lamps turn off if:
•The ignition is on.
•You press the remote control lock button.
•25 seconds have elapsed.
The lamps do not turn off if:
•You switch them on with the lightingcontrol.
•Any door is open.
Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps and some exterior lampsilluminate when all doors are closed and youswitch the ignition off.
The lamps turn off if all the doors remainclosed and:
•25 seconds have elapsed.
•You lock your vehicle from the outside.
Battery Saver
If you leave the courtesy lamps, interiorlamps or headlamps on, the battery savershuts them off 10 minutes after you switchthe ignition off.
Battery Saver for Intelligent Access Keys
If you leave the ignition switched on and theengine is not running, the battery saver willturn the ignition off when it detects a certainamount of battery drain, or after 45 minuteshave elapsed.
KEYLESS ENTRY
SECURICODE™ Keyless Entry Keypad
The keypad is near the driver window. Itilluminates when touched.
Note: If you enter your entry code too faston the keypad, the unlock function may notwork. Enter your entry code again moreslowly.
You can use the keypad to do the following:
•Lock or unlock the doors.
•Program and erase user codes.
•Arm and disarm the anti-theft alarm.
•Recall memory seat and mirror positions.
