To read data recorded by an event datarecorder, special equipment is required, andaccess to the vehicle or the event datarecorder is needed. In addition to the vehiclemanufacturer, other parties, such as lawenforcement, that have such specialequipment, can read the information if theyhave access to the vehicle or the event datarecorder.
Comfort, Convenience andEntertainment Data
Your vehicle has electronic control units thathave the ability to store data based on yourpersonalized settings. The data is storedlocally in the vehicle or on devices that youconnect to it, for example, a USB drive ordigital music player. You can delete some ofthis data and also choose whether to shareit through the services to which yousubscribe. See Settings (page 445).
Comfort and Convenience Data
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Seat and steering wheel position.
•Climate control settings.
•Radio presets.
Entertainment Data
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Music, videos or album art.
•Contacts and corresponding addressbook entries.

If you use our services, we collect and usedata, for example account information,vehicle location and driving characteristics,that could identify you. We transmit this datathrough a dedicated, protected connection.We only collect and use data to enable youruse of our services to which you havesubscribed, with your consent or wherepermitted by law. For additional information,see the terms and conditions of the servicesto which you have subscribed.

Vehicles With a Modem
The modem has a SIM. The modemperiodically sends messages to stayconnected to the cell phone network. Thesemessages could include information thatidentifies your vehicle, the SIM and theelectronic serial number of the modem. Cellphone network service providers could haveaccess to additional information, for examplecell phone network tower identification.
Note:The modem continues to send thisinformation unless you have all added valueservices deactivated. Contact the FordCustomer Relationship Center. Refer to theregional Ford website for contactinformation.

EQUIPMENT
WARNING: Driving while distractedcan result in loss of vehicle control, crashand injury. We strongly recommend that youuse extreme caution when using any devicethat may take your focus off the road. Yourprimary responsibility is the safe operationof your vehicle. We recommend against theuse of any hand-held device while drivingand encourage the use of voice-operatedsystems when possible. Make sure you areaware of all applicable local laws that mayaffect the use of electronic devices whiledriving.
Using mobile communications equipment isbecoming increasingly important in theconduct of business and personal affairs. However, you must not compromise yourown or others’ safety when using suchequipment. Mobile communications canenhance personal safety and security whenappropriately used, particularly in emergencysituations. Safety must be paramount whenusing mobile communications equipment toavoid negating these benefits. Mobilecommunication equipment includes, but isnot limited to, cellular phones, pagers,portable email devices, text messagingdevices and portable two-way radios.
EXPORT UNIQUE OPTIONS
For your particular global region, your vehiclemay be equipped with features and optionsthat are different from the features andoptions that are described in this Owner’sManual. A market unique supplement maybe supplied that complements this book. Byreferring to the market unique supplement,if provided, you can properly identify thosefeatures, recommendations and
specifications that are unique to your vehicle.This Owner’s Manual is written primarily forthe U.S. and Canadian Markets. Features orequipment listed as standard may bedifferent on units built for export. Refer tothis Owner’s Manual for all other requiredinformation and warnings.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON
RADIO FREQUENCIES
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCCRules and with Licence exempt RSSStandards of Industry Canada. Operation issubject to the following two conditions:
•This device may not cause harmfulinterference, and
•This device must accept any interferencereceived, including interference that maycause undesired operation.
WARNING: Changes or modificationsnot expressively approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void theuser's authority to operate the equipment.The term "IC:" before the radio certificationnumber only signifies that Industry Canadatechnical specifications were met.
The typical operating range for yourtransmitter is approximately 33 ft (10 m).Vehicles with the remote start feature willhave a greater range. One of the followingcould cause a decrease in operating range:
•weather conditions
•nearby radio towers
•structures around the vehicle
•other vehicles parked next to yourvehicle
Other short-distance radio transmitters, suchas amateur radios, medical equipment,wireless headphones, remote controls andalarm systems may operate on the samefrequency as your remote control. If othertransmitters are operating on thosefrequencies, you may not be able to use yourremote control. Using your remote controlnear some types of electronic equipment,such as USB devices, computers or cellphones can interfere with remote operation.Operating your remote control near metal ormetallic-finished purses, bags or clothing caninterfere with remote operation. You can lockand unlock the doors with the key.
Note:Make sure to lock your vehicle beforeleaving it unattended.
Note:If you are in range, the remote controlwill operate if you press any buttonunintentionally.
Intelligent Access
The system uses a radio frequency signal tocommunicate with your vehicle and authorizeyour vehicle to unlock when one of thefollowing conditions are met:
•You touch the inside of any exterior doorhandle within 3 ft (1 m) proximity of anintelligent access key.
•You press the luggage compartmentbutton.
•You press a button on the transmitter.
If excessive radio frequency interference ispresent in the area or if the transmitterbattery is low, you may need to mechanicallyunlock your door. You can use themechanical key blade in your intelligentaccess key to open the driver door in thissituation. See Remote Control (page 56).

Remote Starting Your Vehicle
Note: You must press each button withinthree seconds of each other. If you do notfollow this sequence, your vehicle does notstart remotely, the direction indicators donot flash twice and the horn does not sound.
1. Press the lock button to lock all thedoors.
2.Press the remote start button twice. Theexterior lamps flash twice.
A tone sounds if the system fails to start.
Note:You must press the push buttonignition switch on the instrument panel oncewhile applying the brake pedal beforedriving your vehicle.
The power windows do not work duringremote start and the radio does not turn onautomatically.
The parking lamps remain on and yourvehicle will run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes,depending on the setting.
Extending the Engine Running Time
To extend the engine running time durationof your vehicle during remote start, repeatsteps 1 and 2 while the engine is running. Ifthe duration is set to 15 minutes, the durationextends by another 15 minutes. For example,if your vehicle had been running from thefirst remote start for 5 minutes, your vehiclecontinues to run now for a total of 30minutes. You can extend the engine runningtime duration to a maximum of 30 minutes.
Wait at least five seconds before remotestarting after the engine stops running.
Turning Your Vehicle Off After RemoteStarting
Press the button once. Yourvehicle and the parking lamps turnoff.
You may have to be closer to your vehiclethan when starting due to ground reflectionand the added noise of your running vehicle.You can switch this feature on or off in theinformation display. See General Information(page 108).
Memory Feature
You can program your intelligent access keyto recall memory positions. See MemoryFunction (page 143).
REPLACING A LOST KEY OR
REMOTE CONTROL
Replacement keys or remote controls canbe purchased from an authorized dealer.Authorized dealers can program remotecontrols for your vehicle. See PassiveAnti-Theft System (page 77).

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys withrestricted driving modes to promote gooddriving habits. You can program therestrictions to all keys except one. Any keysthat you did not program are administratorkeys or admin keys.
You can use admin keys to:
•Create a MyKey with certain vehiclerestrictions.
•Program certain MyKey settings.
•Clear all MyKey restrictions.
After you program a MyKey, you can viewthe following information through theinformation display:
•The total number of admin keys andMyKeys for your vehicle.
•The total distance a MyKey drivertraveled with your vehicle.
Note:Every MyKey receives the samerestrictions and settings. You cannotprogram them individually.
Note:For vehicles equipped with apush-button start switch: When both a MyKeyand an admin key are present when youstart your vehicle, the system recognizes theadmin key only.
Standard Settings
Not every vehicle includes the features listedbelow. If your vehicle has this equipment,then you cannot change the followingsettings when using a MyKey:
•Seatbelt reminder or Belt-Minder™. MyKeymutes the audio system until drivers, andin some instances, passengers, fastentheir seatbelts. Note: If your vehicleincludes an AM/FM radio or a very basicaudio system, then the radio may notmute.
•Earlier low-fuel warning. The low-fuelwarning activates earlier for MyKeydrivers, giving them more time to refuel.
•Certain driver alerts, stability systems orparking aids turn on automatically whenyou use the MyKey system. For example,Blind Spot Information System (BLIS),cross traffic alert, lane departure warningor forward collision warning. Note: MyKeydrivers may be able to turn the lanedeparture warning feature off, but thisfeature turns back on automatically withevery new key cycle.
•Restricted touchscreen operation in somemarkets. For example, MyKey mayprevent manual navigation destinationinput while the vehicle is in any gearother than park (P) or when the vehiclereaches a certain rate of speed.
•Satellite radio adult content restrictions,if this feature is available in your market.
Optional Settings
You can configure certain vehicle featuresettings when you first create a MyKey. Youcan also change the settings afterward withan admin key.

Note:Not every feature applies to everyvehicle in every market. When they areavailable for your vehicle, then they appearin your information display, providing choicesto switch them on or off, or to select a morespecific setting.
•Various vehicle speed limits so theMyKey driver cannot exceed certainspeeds. The information display showswarnings followed by an audible tonewhen the MyKey driver reaches the setspeed. You cannot override the setspeed by fully depressing the acceleratorpedal.
WARNING: Do not set MyKeymaximum speed limit to a limit that willprevent the driver from maintaining a safespeed considering posted speed limits andprevailing road conditions. The driver isalways responsible to drive in accordancewith local laws and prevailing conditions.Failure to do so could result in accident orinjury.
•Various vehicle speed reminders soMyKey drivers know when their vehiclespeed approaches the limits. Warningsappear in your information display and atone sounds when the MyKey driversexceed the set vehicle speed.
•The audio system's maximum volumelimits to 45% so MyKey drivers canconcentrate on the road. A messageappears in the information display whenMyKey drivers attempt to exceed thelimited volume. MyKey also disables theautomatic volume control. Note: If yourvehicle includes an AM/FM radio or avery basic audio system, then the radiomay not limit.
•Always on setting. This setting forcescertain features to remain on and activefor MyKey drivers. For example, E911 oremergency assistance and the do notdisturb features stay on even if a MyKeydriver uses the feature's control to switchit off. When you select, you will not beable to turn off Advance Trac or tractioncontrol (if your vehicle has this feature).
CREATING A MYKEY
Use the information display to create aMyKey.
1. Switch the ignition on using the key orthe transmitter you want to program. Ifyour vehicle has a push-button start,place the transmitter into the backup slot.See Passive Anti-Theft System (page77).
2.Access the main menu in the informationdisplay and then scroll through themenus to begin programming yourMyKey. See Information Displays (page108).
3. Follow the instructions in the display.
4. A confirmation message appears in thedisplay after you finish programming yourMyKey. The programmed restrictionsapply when you key off, open and closedriver door and restart your vehicle withthe programmed key or transmitter.
Note:Make sure you label the programmedMyKey so you can distinguish it from theadmin keys.
