NOTICE ■
Handling the card keys ●
Do not apply excess force when inserting the mechanical key to the card key.
Doing so may damage the card key. ●
If the battery or card key terminals get wet, the battery may corrode and the card key
may stop working.
If the key is dropped into water, or if drin king water etc. is spilled on the key, immedi-
ately remove the battery cover and wipe the battery and terminals.
(To remove the battery cover, lightly grasp it and pull.) If the battery is corroded, have
your Lexus dealer replace the battery. ●
Do not crush the battery cover or use a screwdriver to remove the battery cover.
Forcibly removing the battery cover may bend or damage the key. ●
If the battery cover is frequently removed, the cover may become loose. ●
When installing the battery, make sure to check the direction of the battery.
Installing the battery in the wrong directio n may cause the battery to deplete rapidly.●
The surface of the card key may be damaged, or its coating may peel off in the follow-
ing situations:
• The card key is carried together with hard objects, such as coins or keys.
• The card key is scraped with a sharp object, such as a tip of mechanical pencil.
• The surface of the card key is wiped with thinners or benzene.■
Carrying the electronic key on your person
Carry the electronic key 3.9 in. (10 cm) or mo re away from electric appliances that are
turned on. Radio waves emitted from electric appliances within 3.9 in. (10 cm) of the
electronic key may interfere with the key, causing the key to not function properly.■
In case of a smart access system with pu sh-button start malfunction or other key-
related problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic keys provided with your vehicle, including the
card key, to your Lexus dealer. ■
When an electronic key is lost
If the electronic key re mains lost, the risk of vehicle th eft increases significantly. Visit
your Lexus dealer immediately with all rema ining electronic keys and the card key that
were provided with your vehicle.

Changing the door unlock function setting
It is possible to set which doors the entry function unlock s using the wireless remote con-
trol.
Turn the engine switch off.
When the indicator light on the key surface is not on, press and hold for
approximately 5 seconds while pressing and holding .
The setting changes each time an operation is performed, as shown below. (When
changing the setting continuously, release the buttons, wait for at least 5 seconds, and
repeat step .)
To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm, unlock the doors using the wireless
remote control and open and close a door once after the settings have been changed. (If
a door is not opened within 60 seconds af ter is pressed, the doors will be locked
again and the alarm will automatically be set.)
In a case that the alarm is triggered, immediately stop the alarm. (  P. 82)1

Jam protection function
If anything obstructs the power back door while it is closin g/opening, the back door will
automatically operate in the opposite direction. ■
When re-connecting the battery
To enable the power back door to op erate properly, perform the following:●
Unlock the back door using the door lock switch ●
Close the back door manually ■
Back door closer
In the event that the upper and lower back doors are left slightly open, the back door
closer will automatically close them to the fully closed position. ■
Fall-down protection function
While the power back door is opening automa tically, applying excessi ve force to it will
stop the opening operation to prevent the po wer back door from rapidly falling down.■
Back door reserve lock function
This function is a function which reserves lo cking of all doors, be forehand, when the back
door is open. When the following procedure is performed, all the doors except the back
door are locked and then back door will also be locked at the same time it is closed.
Close all doors, except the back door.
Perform any of the following during the auto matic closing operation of the back door.
• Press the lock button on th e wireless remote control. (  P. 116)
• Touch the lock sensor on the side door handle with carrying the electronic key on
your person. (  P. 121)
Also, if the back door does not fully clos e due to the operation of the jam protection
function, etc., while the back door is automatically closing after a reserve lock opera-
tion is performed, the reserv e lock function is canceled and all the doors will unlock.■
Customization

WARNING ■
Operating the back door
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause parts of the body to be caught, resultin g in death or serious
injury. ●
Remove any heavy loads, such as snow and ice, from the back door before opening it.
Failure to do so may cause the back door suddenly shut again after it is opened.●
When opening or closing the back door, thoroughly check to make sure the sur-
rounding area is safe. ●
If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the back
door is about to open or close. ●
Use caution when opening or closing the ba ck door in windy weather as it may move
abruptly in strong wind.
●
Do not pull on the back door damper stay to close the back door, and do not hang on
the back door damper stay.
Doing so may cause hands to be caught or the back door damper stay to break, caus-
ing an accident. ●
If a bicycle carrier or similar heavy object is attached to the back door, it may sud-
denly shut again after being opened, causing someone’s hands, head or neck to be
caught and injured. When installing an acce ssory part to the back door, using a genu-
ine Lexus part is recommended. ●
The back door may suddenly shut if it is not
opened fully. It is more difficult to open or
close the back door on an incline than on a
level surface, so bewa re of the back door
unexpectedly opening or closing by itself.
Make sure that the back door is fully open and
secure before using the luggage compart-
ment. ●
When closing the back door, take extra care
to prevent your fingers etc. from being
caught. Also pay attention to your personal
belongings such as bags and ties. ●
When closing the back door, make sure to
press it lightly on its ou ter surface. If the back
door handle is used to fully close the back
door, it may result in hands or arms being
caught.

Operation of each component WARNING ■
Back door closer
●
Use caution when using the back door closer as it still operates when the power back
door system is canceled. ●
In the event that the upper or lower back door
is left slightly open, the back door closer will
automatically close it to the fully closed posi-
tion. It takes several seconds before the back
door closer begins to operate. Be careful not
to catch fingers or anything else in the back
door, as this may cause bone fractures or
other serious injuries.

If the electronic key is inside the vehicle and a door handle becomes wet during a car
wash, a message may be shown on the mult i-information display and a buzzer will
sound outside the vehicle. To turn off the alarm, lock all the doors. ●
The lock sensor may not work properly if it comes into contact with ice, snow, mud, etc.
Clean the lock sensor and attempt to operate it again, or use the lock sensor on the
lower part of the door handle. ●
If there is another electronic key in the de tection area, it may take slightly longer to
unlock the doors after the do or handle is gripped or ba ck door unlock switch is
pressed. ●
A sudden approach to the effective range or door handle may prevent the doors from
being unlocked. In this case, return the door handle to the original position and check
that the doors unlock before pulling the door handle again.■
When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods ●
To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic key within 6 ft. (2 m) of the
vehicle. ●
The smart access system wi th push-button start can be deactivated in advance.

To operate the system properly
Make sure to carry the electronic key when operating the system. Do not get the elec-
tronic key too close to the vehicle when operating the system from the outside of the
vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condition of the elec tronic key, the key may not
be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly. (The alarm may go off
accidentally, or the door lock prev ention function may not operate.)■
