When trouble arises
NOTICE
■If “High Power Consumption Partial Limit On AC/Heater Operation” is shown fre-
quently
Air conditioning, heater and other operations are temporarily limited due to high power
consumption. Turn off unnecessary electronic equipment to reduce power consumption,
and wait until the power supply returns to norm al. If this message is frequently displayed,
have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus dealer.
■If “Aux Battery Low See Owner’s Manual” is shown frequently (LC500h)
The 12-volt battery may deteriorate. As it may cause the 12-volt battery discharge, have
the 12-volt battery inspected by your Lexus dealer.

When trouble arises
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
The electronic key may not be func-
tioning properly. ( P.356)
 There may not be sufficient fuel in
the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle. ( P.182)
 The engine may be flooded.
Try to restart the engine again fol-
lowing correct starting procedures.
( P.146)
 There may be a malfunction in the
engine immobilizer system.
( P.69)
 There may be a malfunction in the
shift control system.
* ( P.149)
 There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.
*: It may not be possible to shift the shift
position other than P.
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
 The 12-volt battery may be dis-
charged. ( P.357)
 The 12-volt battery terminal con-
nections may be lo ose or corroded.
( P.301)
The engine starting system may be
malfunctioning due to an electrical
problem such as electronic key battery
depletion or a blown fuse. However, an
interim measure is available to start the
engine.
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
 One or both of the 12-volt battery
terminals may be disconnected.
( P.301)
 The 12-volt battery may be dis-
charged. ( P.357)
 There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.
If the engine will not start
(LC500)
If the engine will not start even
though correct starting procedures
are being followed ( P.146), con-
sider each of the following points:
The engine will not start even
though the starter motor oper-
ates normally.
The starter motor turns over
slowly, the interior lights and
headlights are dim, or the horn
does not sound or sounds at a low
volume.
The starter motor does not turn
over
The starter motor does not turn
over, the interior lights and head-
lights do not turn on, or the horn
does not sound.

Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem
cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures
are unknown.
When the engine does not start, the
following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the engine if
the engine switch is functioning nor-
mally:
1Press the parking brake switch to
check that the parking brake is set.
(P.168)
Parking brake indicator will come on.
2 Turn the engine switch to ACCES-
SORY mode.
3 Press and hold the engine switch
for about 15 seconds while
depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the engine can be started using
the above steps, the system may be
malfunctioning. Have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer. One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:

The electronic key may not be func-
tioning properly. ( P.356)
 There may not be sufficient fuel in
the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle. ( P.182)
 There may be a malfunction in the
immobilizer system. ( P.69)
 There may be a malfunction in the
shift control system.
* ( P.153)
 There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.
 The hybrid system may be malfunc-
tioning due to an electrical problem
such as electronic key battery
depletion or a blown fuse. However,
depending on the type of malfunc-
tion, an interim measure is available
to start the hybrid system.

Starting the engine in an emer-
gency
If the hybrid system will not
start (LC500h)
Reasons for the hybrid system not
starting vary depending on the situ-
ation. Check the following and per-
form the appropriate procedure:
The hybrid system will not start
even though the correct starting
procedure is being followed.

When trouble arises
the filler opening due to air being dis-
charged from inside the fuel tank.
Therefore, fill the fuel tank carefully and
slowly.
■When the electronic key does not work
properly
●Make sure that the smart access system
with push-button start has not been deac-
tivated using the Remote Touch or at your
Lexus dealer. If it is off, turn the function
on.
●Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is
set, cancel the function. ( P.115)
Use the mechanical key ( P.104) in
order to perform th e following opera-
tions:
WARNING
■After opening the fuel filler door
Make sure to put back the cover to the
center of the rear seat. Failure to do so
may cause an accident.
NOTICE
■After opening the fuel filler door
●Secure the tab in its original position.
●Install the tab so that it does not cover
the clip installation position . Fail-
ure to do so may cause damage to the
clip and make it impossible to install
the cover.

If the electronic key does not
operate properly
If communication between the
electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted ( P.115) or the electronic
key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart
access system with push-button
start and wireless remote control
cannot be used. In such cases, the
doors and trunk can be opened and
the engine can be
started by following the procedure
below.
NOTICE
■In case of a smart access system with
push-button start malfunction or
other key-rela ted problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic
keys (including the card key) provided
with your vehicle to your Lexus dealer as
soon as possible.

In the event that the engine tem> still cannot be started, contact
your Lexus dealer.
■Stopping the engine
Set the parking brake, shift the shift position
to P and press the engine switch switch> as you normally do when stopping
the engine .
■Electronic key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary
measure, it is recomme nded that the elec-
tronic key battery be replaced immediately
when the battery is depleted. ( P.318)
■Changing engine switch
modes
Release the brake pedal and press the
engine switch in step 3
above.
The engine does not start
and modes will be changed each time the
switch is pressed. ( P.148, 152)

When trouble arises

volt battery, you can jump start your
vehicle using the following procedure.
1Confirm that the electronic key
(including the card key) is being
carried.
When connecting the jumper (or booster)
cables, depending on the situation, the
alarm may activate and doors locked.

open the fuse box cover.
