Driving your vehicle
The vehicle will maintain the setspeed, when the lane ahead is
clear.
The vehicle will slow down or speed up to maintain the selected
distance, when there is a vehicle
ahead of you in the lane. (A vehicle
will appear in front of your vehicle
in the LCD display only when there
is an actual vehicle in front of you)
If the vehicle ahead speeds up, your vehicle will travel at a steady
cruising speed after accelerating to
the selected speed.

In traffic situation
Use switch or pedal to accelerate
In traffic, your vehicle will stop if the
vehicle ahead of you stops. Also, if
the vehicle ahead of you starts
moving, your vehicle will start as
well. However, if the vehicle stops
you must depress the accelerator
pedal or push up the toggle switch
(RES+) to start driving.
CAUTION
The warning chime sounds and LCD display blinks if it ishard to maintain the selecteddistance to the vehicle ahead.
If the warning chime sounds, actively adjust the vehiclespeed by depressing thebrake pedal according to theroad condition ahead anddriving condition.
Even if the warning chime is not activated, always payattention to the driving condi-tions to prevent dangeroussituations from occurring.
Be alert to road conditions as radio, sound and outside con-ditions could interrupt a warn-ing sound.

CAUTION
If the vehicle ahead (vehiclespeed: less than 20 mph (30km/h)) disappears to the nextlane, the warning chime willsound and a message willappear. Adjust your vehiclespeed for vehicles or objectsthat can suddenly appear infront of you by depressing thebrake pedal according to theroad and driving conditionsahead.

If you push the Smart CruiseControl toggle switch (RES+ or
SET-) while Auto Hold and Smart
Cruise Control is operating, the
Auto Hold will be released regard-
less of accelerator pedal operation
and the vehicle will start to move.
The AUTO HOLD indicator
changes from green to white. (if
equipped with EPB (Electronic
Parking Brake))Radar to detect distance to the
vehicle ahead
The sensor detects the distance to
the vehicle ahead.
If the sensor is covered with dirt or
other foreign matter, the vehicle to
vehicle distance control may not
operate correctly.
Always keep the area in front of the
sensor clean.
Warning message
When the sensor lens cover is blocked
with dirt, snow, or debris, the Smart
Cruise Control System operation may
stop temporarily. If this occurs, a warn-
ing message will appear on the LCD
display. Remove any dirt, snow, or
debris and clean the radar sensor lens
cover before operating the Smart
Cruise Control System. The Smart
Cruise Control system may not prop-
erly activate, if the radar is totally con-
taminated, or if any substance is not
detected after turning ON the engine

SCC (Smart Cruise Control) mal-
function message
The message will appear when the
vehicle to vehicle distance control
system is not functioning normally.
In this case, take your vehicle to an
authorized Kia dealer and have the
system checked.
CAUTION
Do not install accessories around the sensor and do notreplace the bumper by your-self. It may interfere with thesensor performance.
Always keep the sensor and bumper clean.
Use only a soft cloth to wash the vehicle. Do not spray pres-surized water directly on thesensor or sensor cover.
Be careful not to apply unnec- essary force on the radar sen-sor or sensor cover. If the sen-sor is forcibly moved out ofproper alignment, the SmartCruise Control system maynot operate correctly. In thiscase, a warning message maynot be displayed.
Have the vehicle inspected byan authorized Kia dealer.

(Continued) Do not damage the sensor or sensor area by a strongimpact. If the sensor movesslightly off position, the SmartCruise Control system will notoperate correctly without anywarning or indicator from thecluster. If this occurs, have thesystem checked by an author-ized Kia dealer.

If the front bumper becomes damaged in the area aroundthe radar sensor, the SmartCruise Control System maynot operate properly.

Hybrid vehicleThe drive mode may be selected
according to the driver’s preference
or road condition.
The system resets to the ECO mode
when the hybrid system is restarted.
If there is a problem with the instru-
ment cluster, the drive mode will be
in ECO mode and may not change to
NORMAL mode or SPORT mode.
The mode changes whenever the
DRIVE MODE button is pressed.
\b When normal mode is selected, it
is not displayed on the cluster.ECO mode (Active ECO)
Active ECO is designed to
help improve fuel efficien-
cy by controlling certain
engine and transaxle sys-
tem operating parame-
ters. Fuel efficiency
depends on the driver's
driving habit and road
condition.
When the DRIVE MODE button is pressed and the ECO mode is
selected, the ECO indicator
(green) will illuminate to show that
Active ECO is operating.
When Active ECO is activated, it does not turn off even though the
engine is restarted again. To turn
off the system, press the DRIVE
MODE button again.

Plug-in hybrid vehicle
The drive mode may be selected

Second stage alert
A warning chime to alert the driver
will activate when:
1. A vehicle has been detected in theblind spot area by the radar sys-
tem AND.
2. The turn signal is applied (same side as where the vehicle is being
detected).
When this alert is activated, the
warning light on the outside rearview
mirror will also blink.
If you turn off the turn signal indica-
tor, the second stage alert (the warn-
ing chime and the blinking warning
light on the outside rearview mirror)
will be deactivated. - The second stage alarm can be
deactivated.
To activate the alarm: Go to the User Settings Mode →
Driver Assistance and select
“Blind-Spot Collision Warning” on
the LCD display.
To deactivate the alarm: Go to the User Settings Mode →
Driver Assistance and deselect
“Blind-Spot Collision Warning” on
the LCD display.
Detecting sensor
The sensors are located inside the
rear bumper.
Always keep the rear bumper clean
for the system to work properly.

RCCW (Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning)
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning function monitors approach-
ing cross traffic from the left and right
side of the vehicle when your vehicle
is in reverse.
Operating conditions
To operate
Go to "User Settings →Driving
Assist and select Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning" on the LCD dis-
play.
The system will turn on and standby
to activate. If you deactivate this
function in the cluster, the system will
stop.

"LCD Display" in chapter 4.

NOTICE
• If the vehicle is turned off and on
again, the RCCW system will
return to the state right before the
vehicle was turned off.
• The system will activate when vehicle speed is below 6.2 mph (10
km/h) and with the shift lever in R
(Reverse).
• The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) detecting range
is approximately 1 ft ~ 65 ft (0.5 m
~ 20 m) in the direction of both lat-
eral sides of the car.
An approaching vehicle will be
detected if their vehicle speed is
within 2.5 ~ 22.5 mph (4 km/h ~ 36
km/h).
Note that the detecting range may
vary under certain conditions. As
always, use caution and pay close
attention to your surroundings
when backing up your vehicle.
