Prerequisite for activation
The FCA will activate when the FCA
is selected on the LCD display, and
when the following prerequisites are
satisfied:
- The ESC (Electronic Stability
Control) is activated.
- The driving speed is over 6 mph (10 km/h). (The FCA only works
within a certain range of vehicle
speeds)
- When the FCA recognizes a vehi- cle or the pedestrian in front. (The
FCA may not recognize every
obstacle or provide warnings and
braking in every situation, so do
not rely on the FCA to stop the
vehicle in instances where the driv-
er sees an obstacle and has the
ability to apply the brakes)
FCA warning message and
system control
The FCA system produces warning
messages, warning alarms, and
emergency braking based on the level
of risk of a frontal collision, such as
when a vehicle ahead suddenly
brakes, or when the system detects
that a collision with a pedestrian is
imminent.
The driver can select the initial warn-
ing activation time in the User
Settings in the LCD display. The
options for the initial Forward
Collision Warning include Early,
Normal or Late initial warning time.
WARNING
The FCA automatically acti-vates upon placing the igni-
tion switch to the ON position.
The driver can deactivate the
FCA by canceling the system
setting on the LCD display.
The FCA automatically deacti- vates upon canceling the
ESC. When the ESC is can-
celed, the FCA cannot be acti-
vated on the LCD display.
The FCA warning light will
illuminate.
Set or cancel FCA after stop- ping the vehicle in the safe
place for your safety.

✽ ✽NOTICE
• Do not apply foreign objects such
as a bumper sticker or a bumper
guard near the radar sensor.
Doing so may adversely affect the
sensing performance of the radar.
• Always keep the radar sensor and cover clean and free of dirt and
debris.
• Use only soft clothes to wash the vehicle. Do not spray pressurized
water directly on the sensor or
sensor cover.
• Be careful not to apply unneces- sary force on the radar sensor or
sensor cover. If the sensor is
forcibly moved out of proper
alignment, the FCA system may
not operate correctly. In this case,
a warning message may not be dis-
played. Have the vehicle inspected
by an authorized Kia dealer.
• If the front bumper becomes dam- aged in the area around the radar
sensor, the FCA system may not
operate properly. In this case,
have your vehicle inspected by an
authorized Kia dealer. (Continued)(Continued)
• Use only genuine parts to repair or
replace a damaged sensor or sen-
sor cover. Do not apply paint to
the sensor cover.
• Do not tint the window or install stickers or accessories around the
inside mirror where the camera is
installed.
• Make sure the frontal camera installation point does not get wet.
• Do not impact or remove any radar/camera components.
• Do not place reflective objects(white paper or mirror etc.)
on the dashboard.
The system may activate unneces-
sarily due to reflection of the sun-
light.
• Excessive audio system volume may prevent occupants from hear-
ing the FCA system warning
alarm.
Warning message and warning
light
When the sensor is covered or the
sensor lens is dirty with foreign sub-
stances, such as snow or rain, the
FCA system may not be able to
detect vehicles or pedestrians. In this
case, a warning message (“Forward
Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA)
system disabled.
Radar blocked”) will appear to notify
the driver. Remove the foreign sub-
stances to allow the FCA system to
function normally.

Remove any dirt, snow, or debris and
clean the radar sensor cover before
operating the FCA system.
The FCA may not properly operate in
an area (e.g. open terrain), where
any substances are not detected
after turning ON the engine.System malfunction
When the FCA is not working prop-
erly, the FCA warning light ( ) will
illuminate and the warning mes-
sage will appear for a few seconds.
After the message disappears, the
master warning light ( ) will illu-
minate. In this case, take your vehi-
cle to an authorized Kia dealer and
have the system checked.
The FCA system will get deactivat- ed for the sake of driver's safety
when the ESC warning light comes
on. The FCA warning message will
appear at the same time, too. But
that doesn't necessarily mean the
malfunction of the FCA system. Both FCA warning light and warn-
ing message will disappear once
the ESC warning light issue is
resolved.

WARNING
The FCA is only a supplemen-
tal system for the driver’s con-
venience. The driver should
hold the responsibility to con-
trol the vehicle operation. Do
not solely depend on the FCA
system. Rather, maintain a safe
braking distance, and, if neces-
sary, depress the brake pedal
to lower the driving speed.
In certain instances and under certain driving condi-
tions, the FCA system may
activate unintentionally. This
initial warning message
appears on the LCD display
with a warning chime.

Driving your vehicle
The cruise control system allows you
to program the vehicle to maintain a
constant speed without depressing
the accelerator pedal.
This system is designed to function
above approximately 20 mph (30
km/h).
If the cruise control is left on,
(CRUISE indicator light in the instru-
ment cluster illuminated) the cruise
control can be switched on acciden-
tally. Keep the cruise control system
off (CRUISE indicator light OFF)
when the cruise control is not in use,
to avoid inadvertently setting a speed.Use the cruise control system only
when traveling on open highways in
good weather.
Do not use the cruise control when
driving in heavy or varying traffic, or
on slippery (rainy, icy or snow-cov-
ered) or winding roads or over 6%
up-hill or down-hill roads.
✽ ✽
NOTICE
• During normal cruise control oper-
ation, when the SET switch is acti-
vated or reactivated after applying
the brakes, the cruise control will
activate after approximately 3 sec-
onds. This delay is normal.
• To activate cruise control, depress the brake pedal at least once after
turning the ignition switch to the
ON position or starting the engine.
This is to check if the brake switch
which is important part to cancel
cruise control is in normal condi-
tion.
