Be sure to adjust mirror angles
before driving.
Your vehicle is equipped with both
left-hand and right-hand side view
mirrors. The mirrors can be adjusted
remotely with the remote switch. The
mirror heads can be folded to help
prevent damage during an automatic
car wash or when passing through a
narrow street.
The right side view mirror is convex. Objects seen in the mirror are closer
than they appear. Use your interior side view mirror or
direct observation to determine the
actual distance of following vehicles
when changing lanes.
Do not scrape ice off the mirror
face; this may damage the sur- face of the glass.
If the mirror is jammed with ice, do not adjust the mirror by
force. Use an approved spray
de-icer (not radiator antifreeze)
spray, or a sponge or soft cloth
with very warm water, or move
the vehicle to a warm place and
allow the ice to melt.
NOTICE

Do not adjust or fold the side
view mirrors while driving. This
may cause loss of vehicle con-
trol resulting in an accident.

Fuel Filler Door
Opening the fuel filler door
1. Turn the engine off.
2. Ensure the driver's door isunlocked.
3. Push the fuel filler door near the 3 o'clock position. 4. Pull the fuel filler door (1) out to
fully open.
5. To remove the fuel tank cap (2), turn it counterclockwise. You may hear a hissing noise as the pres-
sure inside the tank equalizes.
6. Place the cap on the fuel filler door.
Information
If the fuel filler door does not open
because ice has formed around it, tap
lightly or push on the door to break
the ice and release the door. Do not
pry on the door. If necessary, spray
around the door with an approved de-
icer fluid (do not use radiator anti-
freeze) or move the vehicle to a warm
place and allow the ice to melt.

For emergencies, be fully
aware of the location of the
emergency tailgate safety
release lever in this vehicle
and how to open the tailgate if
you are accidentally locked in
the luggage compartment.
No one should be allowed to
occupy the luggage compart-
ment of the vehicle at any
time. The luggage compart-
ment is a very dangerous
location in the event of acrash.
Use the release lever for
emergencies only. Use
extreme caution, especially
while the vehicle is in motion.

Fuel gauge
This gauge indicates the approxi- mate amount of fuel remaining in thefuel tank.Information
 The fuel tank capacity is given in chapter 8.
 The fuel gauge is supplemented by a low fuel warning light, which will
illuminate when the fuel tank is
nearly empty.
 On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier
than usual due to the movement of
fuel in the tank. Avoid driving with an extremely
low fuel level. Running out of fuelcould cause the engine to misfire
damaging the catalytic converter.

Never remove the radiator cap
or reservoir cap when the
engine is hot. The enginecoolant is under pressure and
could severely burn. Wait until
the engine is cool before adding
coolant to the reservoir.

Running out of fuel can expose
vehicle occupants to danger.

4. Check for coolant leaking from theradiator, hoses or under the vehi-
cle. (If the air conditioning had
been in use, it is normal for cold
water to be draining from it when
you stop.)
5. If engine coolant is leaking out, stop the engine immediately and
call the nearest authorized
HYUNDAI dealer for assistance. 6. If you cannot find the cause of the
overheating, wait until the engine
temperature has returned to nor-
mal. Then, if coolant has beenlost, carefully add coolant to the
reservoir to bring the fluid level in
the reservoir up to the halfway
mark.
7. Proceed with caution, keeping alert for further signs of overheat-
ing. If overheating happens again,
call an authorized HYUNDAI deal-
er for assistance.
While the engine is
running, keep hands,
clothing and tools
away from the mov-
ing parts such as thecooling fan and drive
belt to prevent seri-
ous injury.
WARNING
Serious loss of coolant indi- cates a leak in the cooling sys-
tem and should be checked as
soon as possible by an author-
ized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
Your vehicle is equipped with a pres-
surized coolant
reserve tank. NEVER
remove the engine
coolant reservoir tank/radiatorcap or the drain plug while the
engine and radiator are HOT.
Hot coolant and steam may
blow out under pressure, caus-
ing serious injury.
Turn the engine off and wait
until the engine cools down.
Use extreme care when remov-
ing the engine coolant reservoir
tank/radiator cap. Wrap a towel
or thick rag around it, and turn it
counterclockwise slowly torelease some of the pressure
from the system. Step backwhile the pressure is released.
When you are sure all the pres-
sure has been released, contin-ue turning the cap counter-
clockwise to remove it.

Maintenance
At least twice a year:(i.e., every Spring and Autumn)
Check radiator, heater and air con- ditioning hoses for leaks or dam-
age.
Check windshield washer spray and wiper operation. Clean wiper
blades with a clean cloth damp-
ened with washer a fluid.
Check headlamp alignment.
Check muffler, exhaust pipes, shields and clamps.
Check the seat belts for wear and function.
At least once a year:
Clean body and door drain holes.
Lubricate door hinges and hoodhinges.
Lubricate door and hood locks and latches.
Lubricate door rubber weather strips.
Lubricate door checker.
Check the air conditioning system.
Inspect and lubricate automatic transmission linkage and controls.
Clean the battery and terminals.
Check the brake fluid level. Follow Normal Maintenance
Schedule if the vehicle is usually
operated where none of the following
conditions apply. If any of the follow-
ing conditions apply, you must follow
the Maintenance Under Severe
Usage Conditions.
Repeated short distance driving.
Driving in dusty conditions or
sandy areas.
Extensive use of brakes.
Driving in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are used.
Driving on rough or muddy roads.
Driving in mountainous areas.
Extended periods of idling or low speed operation.
Driving for a prolonged period in cold temperatures and/or extreme-
ly humid climates.
More than 50% driving in heavy city traffic during hot weather
above 32°C (90°F).
