uuWhen Driving uRoad Departure Mitigation (RDM) System
Continued
Driving
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) System
Alerts and helps to assist you when the system detects a possibility of your vehicle
unintentionally crossing over detected lane markings and/or leaving the roadway
altogether.
The front camera behind the rearview mirror
monitors left and right lane markings (in white
or yellow). If your vehicl e is getting too close to
detected lane markings without a turn signal
activated, the system, in addition to a visual
alert, applies steering torque and alerts you
with rapid vibrations on the steering wheel, to
help you remain within the detected lane.
2 Customized Features P. 300
As a visual alert, the Lane Departure
message appears on the driver information
interface.
If the system determines that its steering input
is insufficient to keep your vehicle on the
roadway, it may apply braking.
u Braking is applied only when the lane
markings are solid continuous lines.
The system cancels assisting operations wh en you turn the steering wheel to avoid
crossing over detected lane markings.
If the system operates several times with out detecting driver response, the system
beeps to alert you.
■How the System Works
1 Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) System
Important Safety Reminder
Like all assistance systems, the RDM system has
limitations.
Over-reliance on the RDM system may result in a
collision. It is always your responsibility to keep the
vehicle within your driving lane.
The RDM system only alerts you when lane drift is
detected without a turn signal in use. The RDM
system may not detect all la ne markings or lane or
roadway departures; accu racy will vary based on
weather, speed and lane marker condition. It is
always your responsibilit y to safely operate the
vehicle and avoid collisions.
You can read about handling information for the
camera equipped with this system.
2 Front Sensor Camera P. 383
The RDM system may not wo rk properly or may work
improperly under the certain conditions: 2 RDM Conditions and Limitations P. 387
There are times when you may not notice RDM
functions due to your opera tion of the vehicle, or

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Provides steering input to help keep the vehicle in the middle of a detected lane and
provides tactile and visual al erts if the vehicle is detected drifting out of its lane.1Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Important Safety Reminders
The LKAS is for your convenience only. It is not a
substitute for your vehicl e control. The system does
not work if you take y our hands off the steering
wheel or fail to steer the vehicle.
2 Driver Information Interface Warning and
Information Messages P. 114
Do not place objects on the instrument panel.
Objects may reflect on th e windshield and prevent
correct detection of the traffic lanes.
The LKAS only alerts you when lane drift is detected
without a turn signal in us e. The LKAS may not detect
all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will
vary based on weather, speed, and lane marker
condition. It is always your responsibility to safely
operate the vehicle an d avoid collisions.
The LKAS is convenient when it is used on freeways.
The LKAS may not work properly or may work
improperly under the certain conditions:
2 LKAS Conditions and Limitations P. 410
You can read about handling information for the
camera equipped with this system. 2 Front Sensor Camera P. 383
The LKAS may not function as designed while driving
in frequent stop and go traf fic, or on roads with
sharp curves.
When you operate the turn signals to chan ge lanes, the system is suspended, and
resumes after the signals are off.
If you make a lane change without operat ing the turn signals, the LKAS alerts
activate, and torque is applied to the steering.

uuWhen Driving uVehicle Stability Assist ® (VSA ®), aka Electronic Stability Control (ESC), System
Driving
Vehicle Stability Assist ® (VSA ®), aka Electronic
Stability Control (ESC), System
VSA ® helps to stabilize the vehicle during cornering if the vehicle turns more or less
than what was intended. It also assists in maintaining traction on slippery surfaces.
It does so by regulating motor output and selectively applying the brakes.
When VSA® activates, you may notice that the
motor do not respond to the accelerator. You
may also notice some noise from the hydraulic
system. You will also see the indicator blink.
■VSA® Operation
1 Vehicle Stability Assist ® (VSA ®), aka Electronic Stability Control
(ESC), System
The VSA ® may not function properl y if tire type and
size are mixed. Make sure to use the same size and
type of tire, and the air pressures as specified.
When the VSA ® system indicator comes on and stays
on while driving, there ma y be a problem with the
system. While this may not interfere with normal
driving, have your vehicle checked by an authorized
Honda Clarity Fuel Ce ll dealer immediately.
VSA ® cannot enhance stability in all driving situations
and does not control the entire braking system. You
still need to drive and corner at speeds appropriate
for the conditions and always leave a sufficient
margin of safety.
The main function of the VSA ® system is generally
known as Electronic Stab ility Control (ESC). The
system also includes a traction control function.

uuWhen Driving uTire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) - Required Federal Explanation
Driving
Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire
maintenance, and it is the driver ’s responsibility to maintain
correct tire pressure, even if un der-inflation has not reached the
level to trigger illumina tion of the TPMS low ti re pressure telltale.
Your vehicle has also been eq uipped with a TPMS malfunction
indicator to indicate when the sy stem is not operating properly.
The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire
pressure telltale. When the system detects a malfunction, the
telltale will flash fo r approximately one minute and then remain
continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue upon
subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists.
When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may
not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended.
TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including
the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the
vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly.
Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or
more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the
replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to
continue to function properly.

uuWhen Driving uFC System in Extreme Cold-weather Conditions
Driving
FC System in Extreme Cold-weather Conditions
The FC system may behave differently on cold days. It may operate a special process
to improve start-up performance and dura bility. Operation noises, purge process
while parked, etc., differ from usual. However, this is not a malfunction.
On cold days, the power output may be temporarily limited if the vehicle is driven at
high vehicle speeds or accelerated suddenly before the FC system warm-up is
completed. Operate the vehi cle looking out for the surrounding traffic until the FC
system reaches full ope rating temperature.
If the exhaust pipe is blocked, the power system may stop. In especially cold
weather, freezing prevention process wh ile parked may not be able to be
performed. Also, the process cannot be carry out if the 12-volt battery terminals are
disconnected; consequently, the FC st ack (fuel cell body) may deteriorate.
On cold days, the hydrogen gas may be consumed faster than usual.
On cold days, when the power system op erates starting/stopping processes or
freezing prevention process while parked, wa ter vapor in the exhaust may appear as
a white mist emitted from the exhaus t pipe. This is not a malfunction.
1FC System in Extreme Cold-weather Conditions
3CAUTION
When the power system operates stopping
process or freezing prevention process
while parked in cold weather, a puddle of
discharged water may form on the ground
and become frozen. Be careful not to slip
on it.

2Customized Features P. 300
■Reference Lines
Three lines that appear on the screen can give
an idea of how far the vehicles or objects on
the screen are from your vehicle, respectively.
If an object is near line 1 (in red), it indicates
that it is close to your vehicle whereas an
object near line 3 is farther away.
1LaneWatchTM
The LaneWatch camera view is restricted. Its unique
lens makes objects on the screen slightly look
different from what they are.
LaneWatch display does not come on when the gear
position is in
( R.
For proper LaneWatch operation:
•The camera is located in the passenger side door
mirror. Always keep this area clean. If the camera
lens is covered with dirt or moisture, use a soft,
moist cloth to keep the lens clean and free of debris.
•Do not cover the camera lens with labels or stickers
of any kind.
•Do not touch the camera lens.
23
1
1Reference Lines
The area around the reference line 1 (red) is very close to
your vehicle. As always, m ake sure to visually confirm
the safety of a lane chan ge before changing lanes.
The distance betwee n your vehicle and lines 1, 2 and
3 on the screen vary depending on road conditions
and vehicle loading. For ex ample, the reference lines
on the screen may seem to appear closer than the
actual distances when the rear of your vehicle is more
heavily loaded.
Consult an authorized Honda Clarity Fuel Cell dealer
if:
•The passenger side door mirr or, or area around it is
severely impacted, resulting in changing the
camera angle.
•The LaneWatch display doe s not come on at all.

uuBraking uCollision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM)
Driving
Collision Mitigati on Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM)
Can assist you when there is a possibility of your vehicle colliding with a vehicle or a
pedestrian detected in front of yours. The CMBSTM is designed to alert you when a
potential collision is determined, as well as to reduce your vehicle speed to help
minimize collision severity when a collision is deemed unavoidable.
■How the system works
1 Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM)
Important Safety Reminder
The CMBS
TM is designed to reduce the severity of an
unavoidable collision. It do es not prevent a collision
nor stop the vehicle automati cally. It is still your
responsibility to operate the brake pedal and steering
wheel appropriately acco rding to the driving
conditions.
The CMBS
TM may not activate or may not detect a
vehicle in front of y our vehicle under certain
conditions: 2 CMBS
TM Conditions and Limitations P. 436
You can read about handling information for the
camera equipped with this system. 2 Front Sensor Camera P. 383
Be careful not to severely impact the radar sensor
cover.
1 How the system works
Rapid vibrations on the steering wheel alert you
when the your vehicle speed is between 19 and 62
mph (30 and 100 km/h) with an oncoming vehicle
detected in front of you.
When the CMBS
TM activates, it may automatically
apply the brake. It will be canceled when your vehicle
stops or a potential coll ision is not determined.
The radar sensor is
behind the emblem.
The camera is
located behind
the rearview
mirror.
The system starts monitoring the roadway ah ead when your vehicle speed is about 3
mph (5 km/h) and there is a vehicle in front of you.
When to use
The CMBSTM activates when:●The speed difference between your vehicle and a vehicle or pedestrian detected
in front of you becomes about 3 mph (5 km/h) and over with a chance of a
collision.
●Your vehicle speed is about 62 mph (100 km/h) or less and there is a chance of a
collision with an oncoming detected vehicle or a pedestrian in front of you.
