performance from the technical features of your Fiat Talento.
You are advised to read it right through before taking to the road for the first time, to become familiar with the controls and
above all with those concerning brakes, steering and gearbox; at the same time, you can understand the vehicle behaviour on
different road surfaces.
This document also provides a description of special features and tips, as well as essential information for the safe driving, care
and maintenance of your Fiat Talento over time.
In the attached Warranty Booklet you will also find a description of the Services that Fiat offers to its customers, the Warranty
Certificate and the detail of the terms and conditions for maintaining its validity.

NOTE When driving, each time the
vehicle stops, the windscreen wipers
slow down: from fast to slow
continuous operation. As soon as the
vehicle moves again, the wipers return
to the initially selected speed. Any
operation of lever 1 fig. 81 takes
precedence and annuls any
automatism.

NOTE If there is fog or snow, the
automatic windscreen wipers are not
systematic and the driver has to
operate them.
IMPORTANT Position C fig. 81 is
accessible when the starter device is
on. Position B and D fig. 81 are
accessible with the engine started.
NOTE There is a service position for
replacing the wiper blades. With the
starter device on and engine stopped,
move the wiper stalk 1 all down
(position D) fig. 81. The wiper arm stops
in a position away from the bonnet (see
the "Windscreen wipers" paragraph in
the "Maintenance and care" chapter).
Windscreen washer
With starter device inserted, pull lever 1
fig. 83 towards the driver. Pulling the
lever briefly, activates a single wipe
together with the screen washer. Pulling
the lever for a longer time, activates
three consecutive wipes together with
the screen washer, and then a fourth
wipe after a few seconds.IMPORTANT In the case of ice or snow,
clean the windscreen (including the
central section behind the interior rear
view mirror) and the rear window before
activating the wipers (risk of overheating
their electric motor). Check condition of
the wiper blades:
they have to stay clean: clean both
windscreen and rear window regularly
with soapy water;
do not use them when the
windscreen and rear window are dry;
detach them from the windscreen or
rear window if they have not been used
for a long time.
In any case, replace them as soon as
they are no longer efficient: about once
a year. Check that there is no item that
could interfere with the windscreen
wiper trajectory.

IMPORTANT In vehicles equipped with
the Start&Stop function, fill with AdBlue
(Urea) additive when the engine is
stopped. Always stop the engine (refer
to the information about starting and
stopping the engine).
AdBlue (Urea) additive quality
Only use additives that comply with the
ISO 22241 standard and in compliance
with the label on the fuel tank flap.
Average fuel consumption
Approximately 3.5 l / 1000 km,
according to the vehicle version,
depending on the vehicle version and
driving style.
Operating precautions
The additive can be topped up in
service stations using the nozzles or the
commercially available containers.
Always refer to the information on the
AdBlue (Urea) additive package.Handle additives carefully. They can
damage clothing, shoes, chassis
components, etc.
If the additive overflows or
contaminates any painted surface,
quickly clean the area with a damp
cloth.
IMPORTANT Use a soft sponge if the
additive crystallises.
In extremely cold climates
In case of ice, the AdBlue (Urea)
additive tank must be topped up until
the warning lightaccompanied by a
dedicated message appears on the
instrument panel.
Precautions while refilling the tank
The AdBlue (Urea) additive freezes at
temperatures lower than approximately
-10 °C. Do not attempt to fill or top up
in this case. However, we advise you to
top up the AdBlue (Urea) additive or
have a qualified professional do it when
the warning light
on the instrument
panel turns on.

WARNING
46)The tank cap is specific. If you need to
replace it, make sure it is the same as the
original. Contact a Fiat Dealership. Do not
wash the filling area with a high pressure
cleaning machine.47)The AdBlue (Urea) additive must not
come into contact with eyes or skin. If that
happens, rinse thoroughly with water. If
necessary, see a doctor.
48)For vehicles with Start&Stop function:
to refill AdBlue (Urea) additive, the engine
must be turned off (and not in stand-by):
you must stop the engine (refer to the
"Starting the engine” paragraph in the
“Starting and driving” chapter):
IMPORTANT
9)No kind of intervention is authorised on
any part of the system. To avoid possible
damage, only Fiat Dealership qualified
personnel is authorised to intervene on the
system.
10)When the appropriate message
appears, fill the AdBlue (Urea) additive tank
(minimum 10 litres) and see the refilling
instructions. Danger that the vehicle will be
immobilised.
11)After filling the AdBlue (Urea) additive
tank, check that the cap and flap are
closed, start the engine and WAIT
10 seconds with the vehicle not moving
and engine started before starting off again.
If you do not do this, the tank filling will be
automatically detected only after a few
minutes' driving. The message to that
effect and/or warning lights will still appear
until the filling has not been detected by the
system.
12)No kind of intervention is authorised on
any part of the system. To avoid possible
damage, only Fiat Dealership qualified
personnel is authorised to intervene on the
system.

Maintenance
Please see the Scheduled Service Plan.
IMPORTANT Air conditioning function
means greater fuel consumption (turn
off the system when you no longer
need it).
IMPORTANT Use the climate control
system regularly, even if in cold weather,
running it for about 5 minutes at least
once a month.
Cars with additional heater
Some vehicles are equipped with an
additional heater that heats the
passenger compartment more quickly.
This device functions only with the
engine on and at low temperatures.
When functioning, a bit of smoke
issuing from the right side of the
vehicle, coming from the heat exhaust
system, is normal.
Irregular operation
Generally speaking, if you notice any
operational irregularity, please see a Fiat
Dealer.
Limited effectiveness of defrosting,
de-misting or air conditioning can be
due to a clogged cabin filter cartridge.
Cold air is not generated. Check the
position of the controls and condition of
the fuses. Otherwise, turn the system
off.Water beneath the vehicle
After prolonged use of air conditioning,
it is normal to find water under it due to
condensation.

RADIO
Radio preparation
Unhook the protection that obstructed
the radio housing 1 fig. 145. The aerial
connections, power supply + and - and
speaker wires are behind the
protection.
Speakers
Turn the grille 2 fig. 146 to access the
loudspeaker wires.
For the operation of these accessories,
refer to the respective instructions
which must be kept with the other
documents of the vehicles.IMPORTANT
In all cases, carefully follow the
instructions contained in the Owner
Handbook.
The features of the supports and
wiring (available at a Fiat Service
Dealership) vary according to the trim
level of the vehicle and the radio model.
For their reference, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
Any intervention on the vehicle's
electrical circuit can be carried only by a
Fiat Dealership because an incorrect
connection could damage the electrical
system and/or parts it is connected to.

Manufacture
The vehicle's manufacture has been
carried out at an industrial factory that
applies advanced procedures aimed at
environmental impact reduction with
respect to the inhabitants and nature in
the surrounding areas (reduction of
water and power consumption,
atmospheric and water emissions,
disposal and evaluation of waste).
Emissions
While it is being used, the vehicle was
designed to emit a lower quantity of
greenhouse gasses (CO
2) and
therefore lower consumption (ex.:
170 g/km amounts to 6.4 l/100 km for
a Diesel vehicle).
Moreover, the cars are equipped with
anti-pollution systems such as the
catalytic exhaust, oxygen sensor, etc.
For some vehicles, this system is
rounded out with an anti-particulate
filter that allows a reduction in particle
emissions.
Respecting the environment
Used and replaced parts on sale during
regular servicing (battery, oil filter, air
filter, batteries, etc.) and oil tanks (both
empty and full of used oil) must be
delivered to specialised waste disposal
consortiums.To hand the vehicle over at the end of
its life without extra cost, contact one of
our dealerships if you are purchasing
another vehicle or an FCA-authorised
collection and scrapping centre. These
centres have been carefully chosen to
offer high quality service for the
collection, treatment and recycling of
vehicles at their end of life, respecting
the surrounding environment.
Recyclability
The vehicle is 85% recyclable and 95%
recoverable.
To achieve these aims, several of the
vehicle's parts have been designed so
they can be recycled. The structure and
materials have been especially studied
to facilitate dismantling of these
components and their re-treatment in
specific chains.
In order to preserve raw material
resources, the vehicle incorporates
several parts in recycled plastic or
renewable materials (plant or animal like
cotton or wool).

Engine speed
Diesel engines are equipped with an
injection system that does not let the
engine exceed a certain number of
revs, no matter what gear is engaged.
If you see the message "Anti-pollution
control" with the warning light
and
the alarm light, contact a Fiat
Dealership immediately.
While driving, depending on the fuel
type used, in exceptional cases the
vehicle might emit white smoke.
This is due to the automatic
regeneration of the anti-particulate filter
and has no consequences on the
vehicle's performance.
Complete lack of fuel
When refuelling after completely using
up all fuel, you need to restore the fuel
circuit: refer to the "Refuelling the
vehicle" paragraph before restarting the
engine.
Engine smoke level label
The information (1) will be shown on the
label A fig. 161 in the engine
compartment.

Depending on the vehicle version, it

scrolling and operational malfunction;
percentage volume of remaining
additive.Resetting the trip odometer
When the "trip meter" display is
selected, press either button 9 or 10
fig. 173 until the odometer is reset to
zero.
Resetting travel parameters
When one of the trip parameters is
selected on the display, press button
9 or 10 fig. 173 until the display is reset.
Interpreting some of the displayed
values after resetting
The further you travel after the last
reset, the more accurate and significant
the average fuel consumption,
autonomy and average speed become.
During the first kilometres travelled after
resetting, you will notice that the
autonomy increases as you travel. This
is because the system takes the
average fuel consumption since the last
reset into account. The average fuel
consumption can decrease when:
the vehicle is no longer accelerating;
the engine reaches operating
temperature (reset: cold engine);
going from urban to extra-urban
driving.
Automatic travel parameter reset
Reset is automatic when one of the
parameter's capacities is exceeded.
