stabilizesafterthebreak-inperiod.
—Undernormalconditions,oilconsumption
dependsonthequalityandviscosityofthe
oil,theengineRPM,theclimateconditions,
andtheroadconditions.Thedilutionofoil
fromcondensationorfuelresidueaswellas
theageoftheoilalsoplayarole.Because
enginewearincreaseswithmileage,oilcon-
sumptionwillincreaseagainovertimeuntil

let.Thisisveryimportantbecausethelubrication
functionoftheoilgraduallydeclinesduringregu-
larvehicleoperation.
Theengineoilshouldbechangedmorefrequent-
lyundercertaincircumstances.Havetheoil
changedmorefrequentlyifyouoftendriveshort
distances,yourvehicleispredominantlyinstop-
and-gotrafficsituations,isinverydustyenviron-
ments,orisoperatedforlongperiodsoftimein
temperaturesbelowzero.
Cleansingadditivesintheoilmakefreshoilap-
peardarkeraftertheenginehasrunbriefly.This
isnormalandnoreasontochangetheengineoil
morefrequentlythanrecommended.
Becausecorrectlydisposingofengineoilisdiffi-
cultandspecialtoolsandtechnicalknowledge
areneededforanoilchange,havingyourengine
oilchangedby anauthorizedAudidealerorau-
thorizedAudiServiceFacilityisrecommended.
