Using turn signals
The vehicle's turn signals are controlled using the left-side steering wheel lever. The turn sig-nals flash three times or continuously, depend-ing on how far up or down the lever is moved.
Turn signals.
Triple flash indicatorMove the steering wheel lever up or down to the first position and release. The turn sig-nals will flash three times. This function canbe activated/deactivated in the center dis-play.
NOTE
• This automatic flashing sequence can be interrupted by immediately moving thelever in the opposite direction.
• If the turn signal indicator flashes morequickly than normal, refer to the messagein the instrument panel.
Continuous flashing sequenceMove the lever up or down as far as possible.
The lever will stop in its end position and can be moved back manually or automatically by movingthe steering wheel.

Lift the rubber strip by pressing it inward into the engine compartment.
Remove the plastic cover by folding out the catch and lifting the cover upward.
Unscrew the expansion tank cap and fill coolant as needed. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the
expansion tank.
CAUTION
• Mix the coolant with water of acceptable quality. If you are unsure of the quality ofthe water, use a Volvo-recommendedpremixed coolant.
• Make sure the coolant mixture is 50%water and 50% coolant.
• Only use coolants with corrosion protec-tion recommended by Volvo.
• To help ensure sufficient corrosion pro-tection in the system, only use new cool-ant when replacing larger components inthe cooling system.
• Never run the engine unless the coolingsystem is properly filled. An improperlyfilled cooling system could lead to hightemperatures and cracks in the cylinderheads.
• High levels of chlorine, chlorides andother salts may cause corrosion in thecooling system.

Replacing bulbs
The bulbs in the halogen headlights can be changed without the help of a workshop. Halogen headlights are not available on all mod- els and markets. Contact a Volvo retailer formore information. LED 13
bulbs must be replaced by a workshop.
An authorized Volvo workshop is recommended.
NOTE
For information on lights not mentioned in this article, contact a Volvo dealer or a certi-fied Volvo service technician.
The headlight bulbs can be replaced without the assistance of a workshop, but before a bulb canbe replaced, the plastic cover over the headlightneeds to be removed. The low beam lights will be accessible when the headlight's round rubber cover has beenremoved. The bulbs of the turn signals, high beam and day- time running lights/parking lights are accessibleonce the rectangular headlight cover has beenremoved.

light, the entire
lamp unit will normally need to be replaced.
WARNING
The vehicle electrical system must be in igni- tion mode 0 when bulbs are replaced.
CAUTION
Never touch the bulb glass with your bare fin- gers. Grease and oils from your fingers vapor-ize in the heat and will leave a deposit on thereflector, which may damage it.
NOTE
If the error message persists after the defec- tive bulb has been replaced, we recommend avisit to an authorized Volvo workshop.
NOTE
Exterior lighting such as headlights and tail- lights may develop temporary condensationon the inside of the lens. This is normal. Allexterior lighting is designed to resist this.Condensation is normally vented out of thelamp housing once the light has been lit forsome period of time.
NOTE
Bulbs for active curve lighting * contain traces
of mercury and should therefore always be submitted to a certified Volvo service techni-cian.

Removing the plastic cover toreplace bulbsThe headlight bulbs can be replaced without the assistance of a workshop, but before a bulb canbe replaced, the plastic cover over the headlightneeds to be removed.
Lift the rubber strip by pressing it inward into the engine compartment.
Release the pins in the plastic cover's four clips by pressing them down with a screw-driver or similar object and remove the cover-ing. Put the cover back in place in the reverse order.

Removing the rectangular headlightcover
Most of the bulbs in the headlight housing can be accessed when the rectangular cover isremoved.
Before the rectangular cover can be removed, the plastic covering over the headlight must beremoved.
Left headlight.
1. Undo the four screws of the cover using a Torx tool, dimension T20 (1). Do not undo these completely; 3–4 turns is enough.
Push the cover to the side.
3. Remove the cover. Put the cover back in place in the reverse order.

Replacing front turn signal bulbs The turn signal bulbs in the halogen headlights can be changed without the help of a workshop.
Before the lamp can be replaced, the rectangular headlight cover must be removed.
Left headlight.
1. Press the retaining catches together and pullthe bulb holder straight out.
2. The bulb holder and bulb must be replaced as one unit.
3. Position the bulb holder in the socket and push it into place.
