When trouble arises
Indicates a malfunction in:• The ABS; or
• The brake assist system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
Indicates a malfunction in: • The VSC system;
• Trailer Sway Control system (if equipped);
• The TRAC system;
• The hill-start assist control system (ifequipped);
• The active traction control system (if equipped);
• The AUTO LSD system; or
• The Crawl Control system (if equipped)
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
(If equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure moni-
toring system.
The tire pressure warning light comes on after
flashing for 1 minute.

dealer.

was opened and closed
• The engine switch was
turned to ACCESSORY
mode without starting the
engine

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
● One or both of the battery t erminals may be disconnected.
● The battery may be discharged. ( P. 613)
● There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system (vehicles
with a smart key system).
Contact your Toyota dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, o r if repair
procedures are unknown.
When the engine does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the engine if the engine switch is fun ctioning
normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the engine switch for about 15 seconds while
depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the engine can be start ed using the above steps, the sy stem
may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyot a
dealer.
The starter motor does not turn over, the interior lights and h ead-
lights do not turn on, o r the horn does not sound.

It is locked to prevent theft of the vehicle if the key is removed from the
engine switch. ( P. 194)
●Vehicles with a smart key system:
It is locked automatically to prevent theft of the vehicle. ( P. 199)
●Is the window lock switch pressed?
The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be oper-
ated if the window lock switch is pressed. ( P. 147)
●The auto power off function will be operated if the vehicle is left in ACCES-
SORY or IGNITION ON mode (the engine is not running) for a peri od of
time. ( P. 198)
●The seat belt reminder light is flashing
Are the driver and the front passenger wearing the seat belts? (P. 567)
●The parking brake indicator is on
Is the parking brake released? ( P. 210)
Depending on the situation, other types of warning buzzer may a lso sound.

●Is the electronic key left inside the vehicle?
