DECELERATION AND BRAKING
The Li-ion battery is charged by the electric
motor that changes the energy of the ro-
tating wheels into electric power. For addi-
tional information, refer to “Regenerative
brake” in this section.
STOPPING
The gasoline engine may stop running to
save fuel depending on the available Li-ion
battery charge.The NISSAN PURE DRIVE® Hybrid System
displays the energy flow between the en-
gine, Li-ion battery, and tires on the ad-
vanced drive assist display in the meter.
The status is shown on the assist charge
gauge in the meter and the energy
flow/remaining Li-ion battery charge in the
vehicle information display. System status
can also be shown on the navigation sys-
tem display (if so equipped) and the meter
when the screen is in the energy flow mode
or energy/fuel history mode.
ASSIST CHARGE GAUGE
This meter displays the actual electric mo-
tor power consumption and the charging
power to the Li-ion battery.
For additional information, refer to “Assist
charge gauge” in the “Instruments and
controls” section of this manual.

∙ A child restraint or other object pressingagainst the rear of the seatback.
∙ A rear passenger pushing or pulling on the back of the front passenger seat.
∙ Forcing the front seat or seatback against an object on the seat or floor
behind it.
∙ An object placed under the front pas- senger seat.
∙ An object placed between the seat cushion and center console.
If the vehicle is moving, please come to a
stop when it is safe to do so. Check and
correct any of the above conditions. Re-
start the vehicle and wait 1 minute.
NOTE:
A system check will be performed during
which the front passenger air bag status
light will remain lit for about 7 seconds
initially.
If the light is still OFF af ter this, the small
adult, child or child restraint should be re-
positioned in the rear seat and the vehicle
should be checked as soon as possible. It is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service. 3. If the light is OFF with no front passen-
ger and no objects on the front pas-
senger seat, the vehicle should be
checked. It is recommended that you
visit a NISSAN dealer as soon as pos-
sible.
Other supplemental front-impact air
bag precautions
WARNING
∙ Do not place any objects on the steer- ing wheel pad or on the instrument
panel. Also, do not place any objects
between any occupant and the steer-
ing wheel or instrument panel. Such
objects may become dangerous pro-
jectiles and cause injury if the front air
bags inflate.
∙ Immediately af ter inflation, several front air bag system components will
be hot. Do not touch them; you may
severely burn yourself.
∙ No unauthorized changes should be made to any components or wiring of
the supplemental air bag system. This
is to prevent accidental inflation of
the supplemental air bag or damage
to the supplemental air bag system. ∙ Do not make unauthorized changes
to your vehicle’s electrical system,
suspension system or front end struc-
ture. This could affect proper opera-
tion of the front air bag system.
∙ Tampering with the front air bag sys- tem may result in serious personal in-
jury. Tampering includes changes to
the steering wheel and the instru-
ment panel assembly by placing ma-
terial over the steering wheel pad and
above the instrument panel or by in-
stalling additional trim material
around the air bag system.
∙ Removing or modif ying the front pas- senger seat may affect the function of
the air bag and result in serious per-
sonal injury.

ASSIST CHARGE GAUGE
The assist charge gauge indicates the con-
dition of the electric motor. When the
needle is between the center and “charge”
(
1range), this indicates that the electric
motor is generating power to recharge the
Li-ion battery.
When the needle is between the center and
the PWR side, this indicates that the electric
motor is powering the drive wheels and the
Li-ion battery is discharging. This unit measures terrestrial magnetism
and indicates the heading direction of the
vehicle.
With the ignition switch in the ON position,
press the
button as described in the
charts below to activate various features of
the automatic anti-glare rearview mirror.

COMPASS DISPLAY
Press thebutton for about one sec-
ond when the ignition switch is placed in
the ON position to toggle the compass di-
rection display
1on or off. The display will
indicate the direction that the vehicle is
heading.
N: North
E: East
S: South
W: West
If the display reads “C”, calibrate the com-
pass by driving the vehicle in three com-
plete circles at less than 5 mph (8 km/h).

Master warning light
When the ignition is in the ON position, the
master warning light illuminates if any of
the following are displayed on the vehicle
information display.∙ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Tire Size Incorrect See Owner’s Manual
∙ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) High Temp. Stop vehicle
∙ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Error See Owner’s Manual
∙ No key warning
∙ Low fuel warning
∙ Low windshield-washer fluid warning
∙ Parking brake release warning
∙ Door/lif tgate open warning
∙ Loose fuel cap warning
If the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system mal-
functions, or the diameter of the front and
the rear wheels are different, the master
warning light will illuminate. For additional
information, refer to “All-Wheel Drive (AWD)”
in the “Starting and driving” section of this
manual. ∙ If the warning light comes on while driv-
ing there may be a malfunction in the
AWD system. Reduce the vehicle speed
and have your vehicle checked as soon
as possible. It is recommended that you
visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
CAUTION
∙ If the master warning light was illumi-nated while driving:
—AWD High Temp Stop vehicle
Pull off the road in a safe area and idle
the engine. The driving mode will
change to 2WD to prevent the AWD sys-
tem from malfunctioning. If the warn-
ing light turns off, you can drive again.
—Tire Size Incorrect See Owner’s
Manual
Pull off the road in a safe area and idle
the engine. Check that all tire sizes are
the same, tire pressure is correct and
tires are not worn.
∙ If the warning light is still on af ter the above operations, have your vehicle
checked as soon as possible. It is rec-
ommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service.
Power steering warning
light
WARNING
∙ If the hybrid system is not running or is turned off while driving, the power
assist for the steering will not work.
Steering will be harder to operate.
∙ When the power steering warning light illuminates with the hybrid sys-
tem running, there will be no power
assist for the steering. You will still
have control of the vehicle, but the
steering will be harder to operate.
Have the power steering system
checked. It is recommended that you
visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position, the power steering warning light
illuminates. Af ter starting the hybrid sys-
tem, the power steering warning light turns
off. This indicates the power steering is op-
erational.

HOW TO USE THE VEHICLE
INFORMATION DISPLAY
The vehicle information display can be
changed using the
,, and OK buttons located on the
steering wheel.

buttons to navigate the vehicle infor-
mation display.

The OK,
andbuttons also
control audio and control panel functions
in some conditions. Most screens and
menus offer instruction prompts of the
steering switch buttons to indicate how to
control the vehicle information display.
Dots on the lef t side of the vehicle informa-
tion display will appear if there is more than
one page of menu items. The OK button
changes the audio source and
the
buttons also control voice
recognition manual mode. For additional

Loose Fuel Cap
This warning appears when the fuel-filler
cap is not tightened correctly af ter the ve-
hicle has been refueled. For additional in-
formation, refer to “Fuel-filler cap” in the
“Pre-driving checks and adjustments” sec-
tion of this manual.
Tire Pressure Low - Add Air
This warning appears when the low tire
pressure warning light in the meter illumi-
nates and low tire pressure is detected. The
warning appears each time the ignition
switch is placed in the ON position as long
as the low tire pressure warning light re-
mains illuminated. If this warning appears,
stop the vehicle and adjust the tire pres-
sures of all four tires to the recommended
COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and
Loading Information label. For additional
information, refer to “Low tire pressure
warning light” in this section and “Tire Pres-
sure Monitoring System (TPMS)” in the
“Starting and driving” section of this
manual.
Flat Tire – Visit dealer (if so equipped)
This warning appears when the low tire
pressure warning light in the meter illumi-
nates and one or more flat tires are de-tected while driving. A chime also sounds
for approximately 10 seconds.
Low Oil Pressure Stop Vehicle
This warning appears in the message area
of the vehicle information display if low oil
pressure is detected. This gauge is not de-
signed to indicate low oil level.
The low oil
pressure warning is not designed to indi-
cate a low oil level. Use the dipstick to
check the oil level. For additional informa-
tion, refer to “Engine oil” in the “Do-it-
yourself ” section of this manual.
AWD Error: See Owner’s Manual (if so
equipped)
This warning appears when the all-wheel
drive system is not functioning properly
while the hybrid system is running.
AWD High Temp. Stop vehicle (if so
equipped)
This warning may appear while trying to
free a stuck vehicle due to increased oil
temperature. The driving mode may
change to 2-Wheel Drive (2WD). If this warn-
ing is displayed, stop the vehicle with the
engine idling, as soon as it is safe to do so.
Then if the warning turns off, you can con-
tinue driving. Tire Size Incorrect: See Owner’s Manual
(if so equipped)
This warning may appear if there is a large
difference between the diameters of the
front and rear wheels. Pull off the road in a
safe area, with the engine idling. Check that
all the tire sizes are the same, that the tire
pressure is correct and that the tires are
not excessively worn.
Battery Voltage Low Charge Battery
This warning appears when the battery is
low and needs to be charged.
Shipping Mode On Push Storage Fuse
This warning may appear if the extended
storage switch is not pushed in. When this
warning appears, push in the extended
storage switch to turn off the warning. For
additional information, refer to “Extended
storage switch” in this section.
Power will turn off to save the battery
This warning appears in the message area
of the vehicle information display af ter a
period of time if the shif t lever has not
moved from the P (Park) position.

– When the headlights of the on-coming vehicle or the leading ve-
hicle are turned off, when the color
of the light is affected due to for-
eign materials on the lights, or
when the light beam is out of
position.
– When there is a sudden, continu- ous change in brightness.
– When driving on a road that passes over rolling hills, or a road that has
level differences.
– When driving on a road with many curves.
– When a sign or mirror-like surface is reflecting intense light towards
the front of the vehicle.
– When the container, etc. being towed by a leading vehicle is re-
flecting intense light.
– When a headlight on your vehicle is damaged or dirty.
– When the vehicle is leaning at an angle due to a punctured tire, be-
ing towed, etc. ∙ The timing of switching the low beam
and high beam may change under the
following situations.
– The brightness of the headlights of the oncoming vehicle or leading
vehicle.
– The movement and direction of the oncoming vehicle and the lead-
ing vehicle.
– When only one light on the oncom- ing vehicle or the leading vehicle is
illuminated.
– When the oncoming vehicle or the leading vehicle is a two-wheeled
vehicle.
– Road conditions (incline, curve, the road surface, etc.).
– The number of passengers and the amount of luggage. High Beam Assist operation
To activate the High Beam Assist system,
turn the headlight switch to the AUTO po-
sition
1and push the lever forward2
(high beam position). The High Beam Assist
indicator light in the meter will illuminate
while the headlights are turned on.
If the High Beam Assist indicator light does
not illuminate in the above condition, it may
indicate that the system is not functioning
properly. Have the system checked, it is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service.

TURNING MOD ON AND OFF (if so
equipped)
Some vehicles include the option to allow
the MOD system to be turned on or off.
To turn the MOD system on or off:1. Press the
orbutton on the
steering wheel.
2. Select “Driver Assistance” and press the OK button.
3. Select “Parking Aids”.
4. Toggle ON or OFF “Moving Object” us- ing the OK button.
MOD SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations
for MOD. Failure to operate the vehicle
in accordance with these system limita-
tions could result in serious injury or
death. ∙ Do not use the MOD system when
towing a trailer. The system may not
function properly.
∙ Excessive noise (for example, audio system volume or open vehicle win-
dow) will interfere with the chime
sound, and it may not be heard.
∙ The MOD system performance will be limited according to environmental
conditions and surrounding objects
such as:
– When there is low contrast be- tween background and the moving
objects.
– When there is a blinking source of light.
– When strong light such as another vehicle’s headlight or sunlight is
present.
– When camera orientation is not in its usual position, such as when a
mirror is folded.
– When there is dirt, water drops or snow on the camera lens. – When the position of the moving
objects in the display is not
changed.
∙ The MOD system might detect flowing water droplets on the camera lens,
white smoke from the muffler, mov-
ing shadows, etc.
∙ The MOD system may not function properly depending on the speed, di-
rection, distance or shape of the mov-
ing objects.
∙ If your vehicle sustains damage to the parts where the camera is installed,
leaving it misaligned or bent, the
sensing zone may be altered and the
MOD system may not detect objects
properly.
∙ When the temperature is extremely high or low, the screen may not dis-
play objects clearly. This is not a
malfunction.
NOTE:
The blue MOD icon will change to orange
if one of the following has occurred: ∙ When the system is malfunctioning.
