Cruise control is an
automatic speed control
system that keeps a set speed. It can be acti-vated at speeds from about 25 mph(40 km/h). Cruise control does not work atspeeds below about 25 mph (40 km/h).

1. With the operation mode in ON, press theCRUISE CONTROL ON/OFF switch (A)to turn on the cruise control. The indica-tor/indicator display in the meter clusterwill come on.IndicatorIndicator display2. Accelerate or decele
rate to your desired
speed, then push down and release theSET - switch (B) when the indicator/indi-cator display is illum
inated. The vehicle
will then maintain the desired speed.

(if so equipped)
CAUTIONWhen you do not wish to drive at a set speed, turn off the cruise control for safety.Do not use cruise control when driving con-ditions will not allow y
ou to stay at the same
speed, such as in heavy traffic or on roadsthat are winding, icy, snow-covered, wet, slippery, on a steep downhill slope.NOTE
Cruise control may not
be able to keep your
speed on uphills or downhills.Your speed may decrease on a steep uphill. You may use the accelerator pedal if youwant to stay at your set speed.Your speed may increase to more than the setspeed on a steep downhill. You have to usethe brake to control your speed. As a result, the set speed driving is deactivated.

There are 2 ways to increase the set speed.Push up and hold the RES + switch (C) whiledriving at the set speed, and your speed willthen gradually increase.
When you reach your desired speed, releasethe switch. Your new cruising speed is nowset. To increase your speed in small amounts, push up the RES + switch (C) for less thanabout 1 second and release it.Each time you press the RES + switch (C),your vehicle will go about 1 mph (1.6 km/h)faster.While driving at the set speed, use the accel-erator pedal to reach
your desired speed and
then push down the SET - switch (B) andrelease the switch momentarily to set a newdesired cruising speed.

The set speed driving can be deactivated asfollows:Press the CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFFswitch (A) (Cruise control will be turnedoff.)Press the CANCEL switch (D).Depress the brake pedal.
The set speed driving is deactivated automati-cally in any of the following ways. When your speed slows to about 10 mph(15 km/h) or more below the set speedbecause of a hill, etc. When your speed slows to about 25 mph(40 km/h) or less. When the active stability control (ASC)starts operating. (if so equipped)Refer to “Active stability control (ASC)”
Also, the set speed dr
iving may be deacti-
vated as follow:When the engine speed rises andapproaches the tachom
eter’s red zone (the
red-coloured part of the tachometer dial).
To deactivate
WA R N I N GAlthough the set sp
eed driving will be
deactivated when shifting to the “N”
, never move the
selector lever to
the “N” (NEUTRAL)
position while driving. You would have no engine braking andcould cause a serious accident.
CAUTIONWhen the set speed dr
iving is deactivated
automatically in any
situation other than
those listed above, there may be a systemmalfunction.Press the CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFFswitch to turn off the
cruise control and have

If the set speed driving is deactivated by thecondition described in “To deactivate” onpage 5-106, you can re
sume the previously
set speed by push up the RES+ switch (C)while driving at a speed of about 25 mph (40km/h) or higher. The “SET” indicator appears on the informa-tion display in the meter
cluster. (For vehicles
equipped with the color liquid crystal displaymeter)Under either of the following conditions, however, using the sw
itch does not allow you
to resume the previously set speed. In thesesituations, repeat the
speed setting procedure:
The CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFFswitch is pressed. The operation mode is put in OFF.Indicator goes off.

ACC maintains a set speed with no need foryou to use the accelerator pedal. Using a sen-sor (A), the system also measures the relativespeed and distance between your vehicle anda vehicle in front, and maintains a set follow-ing distance between your vehicle and thevehicle in front by automatically deceleratingyour vehicle if it becomes too close to thevehicle in front. The cruising set speed can be set from 25mph (40 km/h) to 110 mph (180 km/h). Thedistance can be select
ed from three levels.
If the vehicle in front
decelerates, the ACC
will automatically apply limited braking tomaintain the distance, and if the front vehiclethen accelerates, the ACC will automaticallyaccelerate your vehicle up to the set speed. Ifyour vehicle is approaching too close to thefront vehicle, a buzzer
will sound and a warn-
ing is shown in the multi information display. When the ACC detects no vehicle ahead, theset speed will be maintained.Conventional cruise control mode without thedistance control can
also be selected.
Stop lights are illuminated during automaticbraking.

Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC)
(if so equipped)
WA R N I N GBefore using the ACC, read this entire sec-tion to understand the limitations of thissystem. Failure to follow instructionscould result in an accident.Never rely solely on the ACC. The ACC isnot a collision avoidance system or anautomatic driving system. It is designed touse only limited braking and is never asubstitute for your safe and careful driv-ing. Always be read
y to apply the brakes
manually.
