a long break-in period
of low-speed driving. However, you can add to the future perfor- mance and economy of your vehicle byobserving the followi
ng precautions during
the first 300 miles (500 km). Drive your vehicle at moderate speeds during the break-in period.  Avoid revving the engine.  Avoid rough driving such as sudden starts, sudden acceleration, prolonged high- speed driving and sudden braking. These would have a detrimen
tal effect on the
engine and also cause increased fuel and oil consumption, wh
ich could result in
malfunction of the engine components. Beparticularly careful to
avoid full accelera-
tion while in low shift position (low gears). Do not overload the ve
hicle. Stay within

This light comes on in the event of a malfunc- tion in the charging system or when the igni-tion switch is turned to the “ON” position (engine off) or the operation mode is put in ON. When the engine is started, the lightshould go out. Check to make sure that the light has gone out before driving.

This light comes on when the engine oil pres-sure is below normal. If the light stays on while driving, stop the engine as soon as pos-sible. Do not run the engine until the cause of the low oil pressure is corrected.

This light comes on in red if the coolant tem- perature becomes excessively high.

This light comes on when any door is open ornot completely closed. When the vehicle is moving at more than 5 mph (8 km/h) and any door is open or ajar, atone will sound 4 times to inform the driver that any door is not properly shut.

 Do not disconnect the battery cable when the engine malfunction i

ENGINE SOON” or “Che

on. The engine electronic control module stores critical OBD information (especially exhaustemission data), which ma

This warning light does not show the amount of oil in the crankcase. This can only be determined by checking the oil level with the dipstick with the engine turned off.
High coolant temperature warning light - red
CAUTION If the light comes on
during vehicle opera-
tion, it indicates that
the engine is possibly
overheating. Continue
d driving could make
the engine fail. Immedi
ately stop the vehicle
in a safe place and ta
ke appropriate action.

Check all the tires for heavy tread wear or uneven wear patterns.
Look for stones, nails,
glass, or other objects
stuck in the tread. Look
for any tread cuts or sidewall cracks. Check the wheel nuts for tightness, and the tires (including spare tire) for proper pressure.Replace your tires before they are heavily worn out. On vehicles equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system, there
is a risk of damage

Charge or replace the battery if necessary. During extreme cold weather, it is possi-ble that a very low battery could freeze.  Warm the engine sufficiently. After start- ing the engine, allow a short warm-uptime to distribute oil to all cylinders. Then drive your vehicle slowly.  Stay at low speeds at first so that the man- ual transaxle oil or the automatic transaxle fluid has time to spread to all the lubrica- tion points.

How to change a tire 8-10 For emergencies

7. Install the wheel nuts with their tapered ends facing inward, then tighten by handuntil the wheel is no longer loose. 8. Lower the vehicle slowly until the tire touches the ground, by rotating the wheel nut wrench counterclockwise.
9. Tighten the nuts in the order shown in the illustration until each
nut has been tight-
ened to the torque listed here. 65 to 80 ft-lb (88 to 108 N•m)
10. Lower the jack all the way and remove it.
11. Check the tire inflation pressure. The rec-
ommended tire pressure for your vehicleis listed on the tire
and loading informa-
tion placard attached to the driver’s door sill as shown in the illustration. Refer to“Tire inflation pressures” on page 9-15.
CAUTION Never apply oil to either the wheel bolts or the nuts or they will tighten too much.
