beside the transmission displa y.
When theve hicle nears an event, ECO Assist will
calculate the optimal speed for maximum fuel
economy and recuperati veenergy based on the
dis tance, speed and downhill gradient. The "Foot
off the accelera tor" 3 symbol will appear on
th e multifunction displa y.
If th e driver lifts off the accelera tor pedal in
good time, there maining segments on the dis‐
play will turn green until theev ent shown is
re ached. The driv etra in will be set for maximum
fuel econom y.The vehicle will coast, with the
combustion engine switched off if necessar y,
and recuperate on its own using the electric
mo tor.Re cuperation will charge the batter y.
If th ere is no response tothe "Foot off the accel‐
erator" 3prom pt,th e segments will remain
white.
The event will be shown for a short time af ter it
has been passed.
If th eeve nt in volves a vehicle ahead and when
th e coast-down recommendation is given, all
segments will immediately turn green once there is a
response tothe "Foot off the accelerator"
3 prom pt.
If th e sy stem does not inter vene du ring the
eve nt ahead, no thing will be displa yed. The sys‐

ECO Assist is active only in drive program ;

re cuperation).

A, only theeve nt "Vehicle ahead" is dis‐

Sy stem limitations
ECO Assist can function more precisely if the
ro ute is main tained when route guidance is
active. The basic function is also available with‐
out active route guidance. Notall information
and traf fic situations can be fore seen. The qual‐

ECO Assist is only an aid. The driver is responsi‐

The sy stem may be impaired or may not function
in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth ere is poor visibility, e.g. due toinsuf fi‐

shade conditions, rain, sno w,fog or heavy

R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming traf fic,

R Ifth e information on the navigation sy stem's
digital map is incor rect or out of da te.

Ac
tive Steering Assist is operational at speeds
up to210 km/h and helps youto stay inthe
centre of the lane bymeans of moderate steer‐
ing inter ventions. It uses theve hicle in front and
th e lane markings as a refere nce depending on
th e driven speed.
When the sy stem is actively steering, theè
symbol is shown in green in the multifunction
displa y.
If th e de tection of lane markings and vehicles
ahead is impaired, Active Steering Assist
switches topassive mode. The sy stem pr ovides
no support in this case. During the transition
from active topassive status, theè symbol is
shown as enlar ged and flashes yello w. Once the
sy stem is passive, theè symbol is shown as

Ste ering and touch de tection
The driver is requiredtokeep their hands on the
st eering wheel at all times and be able tointer‐
ve ne at any time tocor rect the course of the
ve hicle and keep it in lane. The driver must
ex pect a change from active topassive mode or
vice versa at any time. If
th e sy stem reaches a sy stem limitation or the
driver has not steered theve hicle for a consider‐
able period of time or has remo vedth eir hands
from thesteering wheel, the sy stem will,
depending on the situation, alert the driver
either with a visual warning or a visual and
acoustic warning. Display 1appears in the mul‐
tifunction displa y.
If th e driver does not steer theve hicle over a
long period, or has not take n hold of thesteering
wheel, a repeated warning tone sounds in addi‐
tion tothe visual warning message (depending
on the count ry). The
warning message does not appear or disap‐

R The driver steers theve hicle.
R The driver presses a steering wheel button or
operates Touch Control.
Ac tive Steering Assist is only an aid. The driver is
