Type One - Conventional (Non-Configurable)
The daytime running lamps turn on when:
1. Switching the ignition on.
2. The transmission is not in park (P) forvehicles with automatic transmissions, orreleasing the parking brake for vehicleswith manual transmissions.
3. The lighting control is in the off, parkinglamp or autolamps positions.
4. The headlamps are off.
Type Two - Configurable
Switch the daytime running lamps on or offusing the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 111).
The daytime running lamps turn on when:
1. The lamps are on in the informationdisplay.
2. Switching the ignition on.
3. The transmission is not in park (P) forvehicles with automatic transmissions, orreleasing the parking brake for vehicleswith manual transmissions.
4. The lighting control is in the autolampsposition.
5. The headlamps are off.
The other lighting control switch positionsdo not turn on the daytime running lamps.
If the daytime running lamps are off in theinformation display, the lamps stay off in allswitch positions.
AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM
CONTROL (If Equipped)
WARNING
The system does not relieve you ofyour responsibility to drive with duecare and attention. You may need to overridethe system if it does not turn the high beamson or off.
The system turns on high beams if it is darkenough and no other traffic is present. If itdetects an approaching vehicle’s headlampsor tail lamps, or street lighting ahead, thesystem turns off high beams before they candistract other road users. Low beams remainon.
Note:The system may not operate properlyif the sensor is blocked. Keep the windshieldfree from obstruction or damage.
Note:The system may not operate properlyin cold or inclement conditions. You canswitch on the high beams by overriding thesystem.
Note:If the system detects a blockage, forexample bird droppings, bug splatter, snowor ice, the system goes into low beam modeuntil you clear the blockage. A message mayappear in the information display if thecamera is blocked.
Note:Using much larger tires or equippingvehicle accessories such as snowplows canmodify your vehicle's ride height anddegrade automatic high beam controlperformance.

Operating AWD Vehicles With Spareor Mismatched Tires
WARNING
Only use replacement tires and wheelsthat are the same size, load index,speed rating and type (such as P-metricversus LT-metric or all-season versusall-terrain) as those originally provided byFord. The recommended tire and wheel sizemay be found on either the SafetyCompliance Certification Label (affixed toeither the door hinge pillar, door-latch post,or the door edge that meets the door-latchpost, next to the driver’s seating position), orthe Tire Label which is located on the B-Pillaror edge of the driver’s door. If thisinformation is not found on these labels, thenyou should contact your authorized dealeras soon as possible. Use of any tire or wheelnot recommended by Ford can affect thesafety and performance of your vehicle,which could result in an increased risk of lossof vehicle control, vehicle rollover, personalinjury and death.
A spare tire of a different size other than thetire provided should never be used. TheAWD system may disable automatically andenter front-wheel drive only mode to protectdriveline components if a non-full sized tireis installed. This condition may display anAWD OFF message in the informationdisplay. If there is an AWD OFF message inthe information display from using a non-fullsized spare tire, this indicator should turn offafter reinstalling the repaired or replacednormal road tire and cycling the ignition offand on. It is recommended to reinstall therepaired or replaced road tire as soon aspossible.
Major dissimilar tire sizes between the frontand rear axles (for example, 17 inch lowprofile tires on the front axle and 22 inch highprofile tires on the rear axle) could cause theAWD system to stop functioning and defaultto front-wheel drive or damage the AWDsystem. However, the AWD system iscapable of tolerating any combination of newand worn tires of the same original tire size.For example, using 3 worn tread tires and 1new tread tire all of the same original tiresize, can be tolerated by the AWD system.
Driving In Special Conditions With All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
AWD vehicles are equipped for driving onsand, snow, mud and rough roads and haveoperating characteristics that are somewhatdifferent from conventional vehicles, both onand off the highway.
When driving at slow speeds in deep sandunder high outside temperatures, use a lowgear when possible. Lower gear operationwill maximize the engine and transmissioncooling capability.
Under severe operating conditions, the A/Cmay cycle on and off to protect overheatingof the engine.
Basic operating principles in specialconditions
•Drive slower in strong crosswinds whichcan affect the normal steeringcharacteristics of your vehicle.
•Be extremely careful when driving onpavement made slippery by loose sand,water, gravel, snow or ice.

acceleration or braking which could resultin an increased risk of loss of vehiclecontrol, vehicle rollover and/or personalinjury. Use all available road surface toreturn the vehicle to a safe direction oftravel.
•In the event of an emergency stop, avoidskidding the tires and do not attempt anysharp steering wheel movements.
•If the vehicle goes from one type ofsurface to another (that is, from concreteto gravel) there will be a change in theway the vehicle responds to a maneuver(steering, acceleration or braking). Again,avoid these abrupt inputs.
Sand
Most of the time traction control improvestire traction by managing wheel slip throughBrake, Engine, and AWD calibrations.However, during low speed driving, disablingtraction control in deep sand can help keepthe wheels moving to maintain vehiclemomentum.
When driving over sand, try to keep all fourwheels on the most solid area of the trail.Avoid reducing the tire pressures but shiftto a lower gear and drive steadily throughthe terrain. Apply the accelerator slowly andavoid spinning the wheels.
Do not drive your vehicle in deep sand foran extended period of time. This could causethe AWD system to overheat and default tofront-wheel drive. If this occurs, an AWD OFFmessage displays in the information display.To resume normal AWD function as soon aspossible, stop the vehicle in a safe locationand stop the engine for at least 10 minutes.After the engine has been restarted and theAWD system has adequately cooled, theAWD OFF message turns off and normalAWD function returns. In the event theengine is not stopped, the AWD OFFmessage turns off when the system coolsand normal AWD function returns.
When driving at slow speeds in deep sandunder high outside temperatures, use L (Low)gear when possible. L (Low) gear operationwill maximize the engine and transmissioncooling capability.
Under severe operating conditions, the A/Cmay cycle on and off to protect overheatingof the engine.
Avoid excessive speed because vehiclemomentum can work against you and causethe vehicle to become stuck to the point thatassistance may be required from anothervehicle. Remember, you may be able to backout the way you came if you proceed withcaution.
Mud and Water
If you must drive through high water, driveslowly. Traction or brake capability may belimited.
When driving through water, determine thedepth; avoid water higher than the bottomof the wheel rims (for cars) or the bottom ofthe hubs (for trucks) (if possible) and proceedslowly. If the ignition system gets wet, thevehicle may stall.

All-Wheel Drive (If Equipped)

ESSENTIAL TOWING CHECKS
Follow these guidelines for safe towing:
•Do not tow a trailer until you drive yourvehicle at least 1,000 mi (1,600 km).
•Consult your local motor vehicle laws fortowing a trailer.
•See the instructions included with towingaccessories for the proper installationand adjustment specifications.
•Service your vehicle more frequently ifyou tow a trailer. See your scheduledmaintenance information.
•If you use a rental trailer, follow theinstructions the rental agency gives you.
You can find information on loadspecification terms found on the tire labeland Safety Compliance label as well asinstructions on calculating your vehicle's loadin the Load Carrying chapter. See Load Limit(page 251).
Remember to account for the trailer tongueweight as part of your vehicle load whencalculating the total vehicle weight.
Hitches
Do not use a hitch that either clamps ontothe bumper or attaches to the axle.
Distribute the trailer load so 10-15% of thetotal trailer weight is on the tongue.
Safety Chains
Note:Never attach safety chains to thebumper.
Always connect the safety chains to the hookretainers of your vehicle hitch.
To connect the safety chains, cross themunder the trailer tongue and allow enoughslack for turning tight corners. Do not allowthe chains to drag on the ground.
Trailer Brakes
WARNING
Do not connect a trailer's hydraulicbrake system directly to your vehicle'sbrake system. Your vehicle may not haveenough braking power and your chances ofhaving a collision greatly increase.
Electric brakes and manual, automatic orsurge-type trailer brakes are safe if you installthem properly and adjust them to themanufacturer's specifications. The trailerbrakes must meet local and federalregulations.
The rating for the tow vehicle's brakingsystem operation is at the gross vehicleweight rating, not the gross combinedweight rating.
Separate functioning brake systems arerequired for safe control of towed vehiclesand trailers weighing more than 1500pounds (680 kilograms) when load.
Trailer Lamps
WARNING
Never connect any trailer lamp wiringto the vehicle's tail lamp wiring; thismay damage the electrical system resultingin fire. Contact your authorized dealer assoon as possible for assistance in propertrailer tow wiring installation. Additionalelectrical equipment may be required.

Note:Do not use household cleaningproducts or glass cleaners, which can stainand discolor the fabric and affect the flameretardant abilities of the seat materials.
For fabric, carpets, cloth seats, safety beltsand seats equipped with side airbags:
•Remove dust and loose dirt with avacuum cleaner.
•Remove light stains and soil withMotorcraft Professional Strength Carpet& Upholstery Cleaner.
For grease or tar stains:
•Spot clean the area with Motorcraft Spotand Stain Remover (MotorcraftMulti-Purpose Cleaner in Canada).
•If a ring forms on the fabric after spotcleaning, clean the entire areaimmediately (but do not oversaturate) orthe ring will set.
Cleaning Alcantara Microfiber ClothFabric (If Equipped)
Note:Alcantara microfiber cloth fabric ismade of polyester microfiber withmicro-porous polyurethane. Usingcommercially available fabric cleaners cancause permanent damage.
Note:Do not use commercially availableleather and vinyl cleaning products onAlcantara microfiber cloth fabric.
Note:Some vehicles may have Alcantaramicrofiber cloth fabric on the seats,headliner, floor mats and door panels.
Depending on the type of stain, use water,lemon juice or pure ethyl alcohol whencleaning. For cleaning Alcantara microfibercloth, refer to the following chart:
Cleaning ProcedureType of Stain
Use lukewarm water and rinse by dabbing with clean water.Fruit juice, jam, jelly, syrup or ketchup.
Use cold water and rinse by dabbing with clean water. Avoid warmwater because it makes these substances coagulate.Blood, egg, excrement or urine.
Use lukewarm water. If the color remains, treat with lemon juice andthen rinse.Liquor, alcoholic beverages, wine, beer, cola and tea.

4.Wrap the dual purpose hose (black tube)around the channel on the bottom of thehousing/casing.
5.Wrap the power cord around the housingand stow the accessory power plug intoits storage area.
Note:If you experience any difficulties withthe removal or installation of the sealantcanister, consult your authorized Lincolndealer for assistance.
Check and record the sealant compound’suse-by date and make sure that it is replacedwith a fresh canister after this date. Theuse-by date is on a label located on thesealant canister and can be seen throughthe rectangular viewing window on thebottom of the kit. Replace the sealantcanister if not used after four years.
TIRE CARE
Important information for 245/40R19low-profile tires and wheels If yourvehicle is equipped with 245/40R19tires, they are low-profile tires. Thesetires and wheels are designed to giveyour vehicle a sport appearance. Withlow-profile tires, you may notice anincrease in road noise and faster tirewear, depending on road conditions anddriving styles. Due to their design,low-profile tires and wheels are moreprone to road damage from potholes,rough or unpaved roads, car wash railsand curb contact than standard tires andwheels.
Note:Your vehicle’s warranty does notcover these types of damage. Tires
should always be kept at the correctinflation pressures and extra cautionshould be taken when operating onrough roads to avoid impacts that couldcause wheel and tire damage.

Information About Uniform Tire QualityGrading
Tire Quality Grades apply to newpneumatic passenger car tires. TheQuality grades can be found whereapplicable on the tire sidewall betweentread shoulder and maximum sectionwidth. For example: Treadwear 200Traction AA Temperature A.
These Tire Quality Grades aredetermined by standards that the UnitedStates Department of Transportation hasset.
Tire Quality Grades apply to newpneumatic passenger car tires. They donot apply to deep tread, winter-typesnow tires, space-saver or temporaryuse spare tires, light truck or LT typetires, tires with nominal rim diameters of10 to 12 inches or limited production tiresas defined in Title 49 Code of FederalRegulations Part 575.104 ©)(2).
U.S. Department of Transportation Tirequality grades: The U.S. Department ofTransportation requires Ford MotorCompany to give you the followinginformation about tire grades exactly asthe government has written it.
Treadwear
The treadwear grade is a comparativerating based on the wear rate of the tirewhen tested under controlled conditionson a specified government test course.For example, a tire graded 150 wouldwear 1 ½ times as well on thegovernment course as a tire graded 100.The relative performance of tires
depends upon the actual conditions oftheir use, however, and may departsignificantly from the norm due tovariations in driving habits, servicepractices, and differences in roadcharacteristics and climate.
Traction AA A B C
WARNING
The traction grade assigned to thistire is based on straight-aheadbraking traction tests, and does notinclude acceleration, cornering,hydroplaning or peak tractioncharacteristics.
The traction grades, from highest tolowest are AA, A, B, and C. The gradesrepresent the tire’s ability to stop on wetpavement as measured under controlledconditions on specified government testsurfaces of asphalt and concrete. A tiremarked C may have poor tractionperformance.
