You must have two previously programmedintelligent access keys inside your vehicleand the new unprogrammed intelligentaccess keys readily accessible. See anauthorized dealer to have the spare keyprogrammed if two previously programmedkeys are not available.
Make sure that your vehicle is off beforebeginning this procedure. Make sure thatyou close all the doors before beginning andthat they remain closed throughout theprocedure. Perform all steps within 30seconds of starting the sequence. Stop andwait for at least one minute before startingagain if you perform any steps out ofsequence.
Read and understand the entire procedurebefore you begin.
1.Remove the rubber covering (A) from thecupholder. With the buttons facingupwards and the unlock button facingthe front of the vehicle, place the firstintelligent access in the backup slot (B).
2. Press the push button ignition switch.
3. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
4. Remove the intelligent access key.
5. Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key in thebackup slot. Press the push buttonignition switch.
6. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
7. Remove the intelligent access key.
8. Place the unprogrammed intelligentaccess key in the backup slot and pressthe push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Verify theremote control functions operate and yourvehicle starts with the new intelligent accesskey.
If programming was not successful, wait 10seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7. If youare still unsuccessful, take your vehicle toyour authorized dealer.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM
The system will warn you of an unauthorizedentry to your vehicle. It will be triggered ifany door, the luggage compartment or thehood is opened without using the key,remote control or keyless entry keypad.
The direction indicators will flash and thehorn will sound if unauthorized entry isattempted while the alarm is armed.

Operating AWD Vehicles With Spareor Mismatched Tires
WARNING
Only use replacement tires and wheelsthat are the same size, load index,speed rating and type (such as P-metricversus LT-metric or all-season versusall-terrain) as those originally provided byFord. The recommended tire and wheel sizemay be found on either the SafetyCompliance Certification Label (affixed toeither the door hinge pillar, door-latch post,or the door edge that meets the door-latchpost, next to the driver’s seating position), orthe Tire Label which is located on the B-Pillaror edge of the driver’s door. If thisinformation is not found on these labels, thenyou should contact your authorized dealeras soon as possible. Use of any tire or wheelnot recommended by Ford can affect thesafety and performance of your vehicle,which could result in an increased risk of lossof vehicle control, vehicle rollover, personalinjury and death.
A spare tire of a different size other than thetire provided should never be used. TheAWD system may disable automatically andenter front-wheel drive only mode to protectdriveline components if a non-full sized tireis installed. This condition may display anAWD OFF message in the informationdisplay. If there is an AWD OFF message inthe information display from using a non-fullsized spare tire, this indicator should turn offafter reinstalling the repaired or replacednormal road tire and cycling the ignition offand on. It is recommended to reinstall therepaired or replaced road tire as soon aspossible.
Major dissimilar tire sizes between the frontand rear axles (for example, 17 inch lowprofile tires on the front axle and 22 inch highprofile tires on the rear axle) could cause theAWD system to stop functioning and defaultto front-wheel drive or damage the AWDsystem. However, the AWD system iscapable of tolerating any combination of newand worn tires of the same original tire size.For example, using 3 worn tread tires and 1new tread tire all of the same original tiresize, can be tolerated by the AWD system.
Driving In Special Conditions With All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
AWD vehicles are equipped for driving onsand, snow, mud and rough roads and haveoperating characteristics that are somewhatdifferent from conventional vehicles, both onand off the highway.
When driving at slow speeds in deep sandunder high outside temperatures, use a lowgear when possible. Lower gear operationwill maximize the engine and transmissioncooling capability.
Under severe operating conditions, the A/Cmay cycle on and off to protect overheatingof the engine.
Basic operating principles in specialconditions
•Drive slower in strong crosswinds whichcan affect the normal steeringcharacteristics of your vehicle.
•Be extremely careful when driving onpavement made slippery by loose sand,water, gravel, snow or ice.

All-Wheel Drive (If Equipped)

If you are uncomfortable with the proximityto any vehicle or object, you may choose tooverride the system by grabbing the steeringwheel or by pressing the button.
Parallel Park Out Assist automatically steersyour vehicle out of a parallel parking space(hands-free) while you control theaccelerator, gearshift and brakes. The systemvisually and audibly guides you to entertraffic.
The system may not correctly operate in anyof the following conditions:
•You use a spare tire or a tire significantlyworn more than the other tires.
•One or more tires are improperly inflated.
•You try to park on a tight curve.
•Something passes between the frontbumper and the parking space. Forexample, a pedestrian or cyclist.
•The edge of the neighboring parkedvehicle is high off the ground. Forexample, a bus, tow truck or flatbedtruck.
•The weather conditions are poor. Forexample, during heavy rain, snow or fog.
Note: Keep the sensors on the bumper orfascia free from snow, ice and largeaccumulations of dirt. Covered sensors canaffect the system's accuracy. Do not cleanthe sensors with sharp objects.
Note:The sensors may not detect objectswith surfaces that absorb ultrasonic wavesor cause ultrasonic interference. Forexample, motorcycle exhaust, truck airbrakes or horns.
Note:Following a change in tire size, thesystem must recalibrate and operation maybe impaired for a short time.
Do not use the system if:
•You have attached a foreign object closeto the sensors on the front or rear of yourvehicle. For example, a bike rack ortrailer.
•You attach an overhanging object to theroof. For example, a surfboard.
•A foreign object damages or obstructsthe front or rear bumper or side sensors.
•The correct tire size is not in use on yourvehicle. For example, a mini-spare tire.
Using Active Park Assist - Parallel Parking
Press the Active Park Assist buttononce to search for a parallelparking space.
When driving at a speed less than 22 mph(35 km/h), the system automatically scansboth sides of your vehicle for an availableparking space. The system displays amessage and a corresponding graphic toindicate it is searching for a parking space.Use the direction indicator to selectsearching either to the left-hand side orright-hand side of your vehicle.
Note:If the direction indicators are not used,the system defaults to the passenger sideof your vehicle.

To fully assist you should you have a vehicleconcern, Lincoln Motor Company offers acomplimentary roadside assistance program. This program is separate from the NewVehicle Limited Warranty.
The service is available:
•Throughout the life of the vehicle fororiginal owners.
•For six years or 70,000 mi (110,000 km)(whichever comes first) for subsequentowners.
Roadside Assistance covers:
•A flat tire change with a good spare(except vehicles supplied with a tireinflation kit).
•Battery jump start.
•Lock-out assistance (key replacementcost is the client's responsibility).
•Fuel delivery — independent servicecontractors, if not prohibited by state,local or municipal law shall deliver up to2 gal (8 L) of gasoline or 5 gal (20 L) ofdiesel fuel to a disabled vehicle.Roadside Assistance limits fuel deliveryservice to two no-charge occurrenceswithin a 12-month period.
•Winch out — available within 100 ft (30 m)of a paved or county maintained road,no recoveries.
•Towing — independent servicecontractors, if not prohibited by state,local or municipal law shall tow Lincolneligible vehicles to the client's selling orpreferred dealer within 100 mi (160 km)of the disablement location or to thenearest Lincoln dealer. If a client requestsa tow to a selling or preferred dealer thatis more than 100 mi (160 km) from thedisablement location, the client isresponsible for any mileage costs inexcess of 100 mi (160 km).
•Roadside Assistance includes up to $200for a towed trailer if the disabled eligiblevehicle requires service at the nearestauthorized dealer. If the towing vehicleis operational but the trailer is not, thenthe trailer does not qualify for anyroadside services.

If you need to tow your vehicle, contact aprofessional towing service or, if you are amember of a roadside assistance program,your roadside assistance service provider.
We recommend the use of a wheel lift anddollies or flatbed equipment to tow yourvehicle. Do not tow with a slingbelt. LincolnMotor Company does not approve a slingbelttowing procedure. If you tow your vehicleincorrectly, or by any other means, vehicledamage may occur.
Lincoln Motor Company produces a towingmanual for all authorized tow truck operators.Have your tow truck operator refer to thismanual for proper hook-up and towingprocedures for your vehicle.
It is acceptable to have your front-wheeldrive vehicle towed from the front if usingproper wheel lift equipment to raise the frontwheels off the ground. When towing in thismanner, the rear wheels can remain on theground.
Front-wheel drive vehicles must have thefront wheels placed on a tow dolly whentowing your vehicle from the rear usingwheel lift equipment. This prevents damageto the transmission.
Towing an all-wheel drive vehicle requiresthat all wheels be off the ground, such asusing a wheel lift and dollies or flatbedequipment. This prevents damage to thetransmission, all-wheel drive system andvehicle.
TOWING POINTS
Due to local market requirements in somecountries, some vehicles may be equippedwith a recovery hook.
Recovery Hook Location
If your vehicle is equipped with a screw-inrecovery hook, it is with the spare tire kit orthe rear under floor storage.
Installing the Recovery Hook
There is an installation point for the recoveryhook located behind the fascia.
Note:The screw-in recovery hook has aleft-hand thread. Turn it counterclockwise toinstall it. Make sure that the recovery hookis fully tightened.

Second Stage: Checking Tire Pressure
If you have injected sealant in the tire andthe pressure is below 20 psi (1.4 bar),continue to the next step.
Note:If the tire does not inflate to therecommended tire pressure within 15minutes, stop and call roadside assistance.
WARNING
The air compressor power plug maybe hot after use. Allow it to cool beforehandling. Failure to do so could result inpersonal injury.
Check the air pressure of your tires asfollows:
1.Remove the valve cap from the tire valve.
2. Firmly screw the air compressor hoseonto the valve stem by turning clockwise.
3. Push and turn the dial clockwise to theair position.
4. If required, turn on the compressor andadjust the tire to the recommendedinflation pressure shown on the tire labellocated on the driver's door or door jambarea. The tire pressure should bechecked with the compressor turned OFFin order to get an accurate pressurereading.
5. Remove the hoses, re-install the valvecap on the tire and return the kit to thestowage area.
What to do after the Tire has beenSealed
WARNING
If you experience any unusualvibration, ride disturbance or noisewhile driving, reduce your speed until youcan safely pull off to the side of the road andcall for roadside assistance. Failure to do socould cause you to lose control of yourvehicle and increase the risk of personalinjury or death.
After using the kit to seal your tire, you willneed to replace the sealant canister. Sealantcanisters and spare parts can be obtainedat an authorized Lincoln dealer. Emptysealant canisters may be disposed of athome. However, canisters still containingliquid sealant should be disposed of by yourlocal authorized Lincoln dealer or tire dealer,or in accordance with local waste disposalregulation.
