The Safety Canopy will deploy duringsignificant side crashes or when a certainlikelihood of a rollover event is detected bythe rollover sensor. The Safety Canopy ismounted to the roof side-rail sheet metal,behind the headliner, above each row ofseats. In certain sideways crashes or rolloverevents, the Safety Canopy will be activated,regardless of which seats are occupied. TheSafety Canopy is designed to inflate betweenthe side window area and occupants tofurther enhance protection provided in sideimpact crashes and rollover events.
The system consists of the following:
•Safety canopy curtain airbags locatedabove the trim panels over the front andrear side windows identified by a labelor wording on the headliner or roof-pillartrim.
•A flexible headliner which opens abovethe side doors to allow air curtaindeployment
· Crash sensors and monitoringsystem with readiness indicator.See Crash Sensors and AirbagIndicator (page 55).
Children 12 years old and under shouldalways be properly restrained in the rearseats. The Safety Canopy will not interferewith children restrained using a properlyinstalled child or booster seat because it isdesigned to inflate downward from theheadliner above the doors along the sidewindow opening.
The design and development of the SafetyCanopy included recommended testingprocedures that were developed by a groupof automotive safety experts known as theSide Airbag Technical Working Group. Theserecommended testing procedures helpreduce the risk of injuries related to thedeployment of side airbags (including theSafety Canopy).

GENERAL INFORMATION ON
RADIO FREQUENCIES
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCCRules and with Licence exempt RSSStandards of Industry Canada. Operation issubject to the following two conditions:
•This device may not cause harmfulinterference, and
•This device must accept any interferencereceived, including interference that maycause undesired operation.
WARNING
Changes or modifications notexpressively approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void theuser's authority to operate the equipment.The term "IC:" before the radio certificationnumber only signifies that Industry Canadatechnical specifications were met.
The typical operating range for yourtransmitter is approximately 33 ft (10 m).Vehicles equipped with the remote startfeature have a greater range.
One of the following could cause a decreasein operating range:
•Weather conditions.
•Nearby radio towers.
•Structures around your vehicle.
•Other vehicles parked next to yourvehicle.
The radio frequency used by your remotecontrol can also be used by other radiotransmitters, for example amateur radios,medical equipment, wireless headphones,wireless remote controls, cell phones, batterychargers and alarm systems. If thefrequencies are jammed, you will not be ableto use your remote control. You can lock andunlock the doors with the key.
Note:Make sure to lock your vehicle beforeleaving it unattended.
Note:If you are in range, the remote controlwill operate if you press any buttonunintentionally.
Note:The remote control contains sensitiveelectrical components. Exposure to moistureor impact may cause permanent damage.
Intelligent Access
The system uses a radio frequency signal tocommunicate with your vehicle and authorizeyour vehicle to unlock when one of thefollowing conditions are met:
•You activate the front exterior doorhandle switch.
•You press the luggage compartmentbutton.
•You press a button on the transmitter.
If excessive radio frequency interference ispresent in the area or if the transmitterbattery is low, you may need to mechanicallyunlock your door. You can use themechanical key blade in your intelligentaccess key to open the driver door in thissituation. See Remote Control (page 58).

AUTOWIPERS (If Equipped)
Note:Fully defrost the windshield before youswitch the windshield wipers on.
Note:Make sure you switch the windshieldwipers off before entering a car wash.
Note: If streaks or smears appear on thewindshield, clean the windshield and thewiper blades. If that does not resolve theissue, install new wiper blades.
Note:If you switch autolamps andautowipers on, the headlamps turn on whenthe windshield wipers continuously operate.
Wet or winter driving conditions with ice,snow or salty road mist can causeinconsistent and unexpected wiping orsmearing.

Use the rotary control to adjust the sensitivityof the autowipers. When you select lowsensitivity, the wipers operate when thesensor detects a large amount of water onthe windshield. When you select highsensitivity, the wipers operate when thesensor detects a small amount of water onthe windshield.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean. The rain sensor is very sensitive and thewipers may operate if dirt, mist or insects hitthe windshield.
In these conditions, you can do the following:
•Lower the sensitivity of the autowipersto reduce the amount of smearing on thewindshield.
•Switch to normal or high-speed wipe.
•Switch autowipers off.
Autowipers Settings
Autowipers default to on and remain on untilyou switch it off in the information display.When you switch off autowipers, the wipersoperate in intermittent mode.
WINDSHIELD WASHERS
Note: Do not operate the washers when thewasher reservoir is empty. This may causethe washer pump to overheat.

Headlamp High Beam
Push the lever away from you to switch thehigh beam on.
Push the lever forward again or pull the levertoward you to switch the high beams off.
Headlamp Flasher
Slightly pull the lever toward you and releaseit to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS
WARNING
The system does not relieve you ofyour responsibility to drive with duecare and attention. You may need to overridethe system if it does not turn the headlampson in low visibility conditions, for exampledaytime fog.
When the lighting control is in the autolampsposition, the headlamps turn on in low lightsituations, or when the wipers turn on.
The headlamps remain on for a period oftime after you switch the ignition off. Usethe information display controls to adjust theperiod of time that the headlamps remainon.
Note: If you switch the autolamps on, youcannot switch the high beams on until thesystem turns the low beams on.

Windshield Wiper Activated Headlamps
When you switch the autolamps on, theheadlamps turn on within 10 seconds ofswitching the wipers on. They turn offapproximately 60 seconds after you switchthe windshield wipers off.
The headlamps do not turn on with thewipers:
•During a single wipe.
•When using the windshield washers.
•If the wipers are in intermittent mode.
Note:If you switch the autolamps and theautowipers on, the headlamps turn on whenthe windshield wipers continuously operate.
INSTRUMENT LIGHTING DIMMER
Note:If you disconnect and connect thebattery, or fully discharge and charge thebattery, the illuminated components switchto the maximum setting.

HEADLAMP EXIT DELAY
After you switch the ignition off, you canswitch the headlamps on by pulling thedirection indicator lever toward you. You willhear a short tone. The headlamps will switchoff automatically after three minutes with anydoor open or 30 seconds after the last doorhas been closed. You can cancel this featureby pulling the direction indicator toward youagain or switching the ignition on.
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (If
Equipped)
WARNING
The daytime running lamps systemdoes not activate the rear lamps andmay not provide adequate lighting duringlow visibility driving conditions. Make sureyou switch the headlamps on, as appropriate,during all low visibility conditions. Failure todo so may result in a crash.

To adjust your mirrors, switch your vehicleon (with the ignition in accessory mode orthe engine running) and then:
1.Select the mirror you want to adjust. Thecontrol lights.
2.Use the adjustment control to adjust theposition of the mirror.
3. Press the mirror control again. Thecontrol light turns off.
Fold-Away Exterior Mirrors
Push the mirror toward the door windowglass. Make sure that you fully engage themirror in its support when returning it to itsoriginal position.
Auto-Folding Mirrors
The exterior mirrors automatically fold intoward the glass after you place thetransmission into park (P), turn off the vehicle,open and close the driver's side door andlock the vehicle. The exterior mirrorsautomatically unfold and return to theirdriving position after you unlock the vehicleand open and close the driver's side door.
You can switch this feature on and offthrough the information display. See GeneralInformation (page 118).
Note:If you switch this feature off throughthe information display, the welcome lightingalso switches off.
You can fold the mirrors on demand bypressing the power-folding mirror controllocated on the door. The control lights andthe mirrors fold in toward the glass. Pressthe control again to unfold the mirrors. Thecontrol light turns off.
Note:If you use the power-folding control tofold the mirrors on demand and the auto foldfeature is switched on, you must use thecontrol again to unfold them.

SUN VISORS
Rotate the sun visor toward the side windowand extend it rearward for extra shade.
Illuminated Vanity Mirror
Lift the cover to switch the lamp on.
MOONROOF (If Equipped)
WARNINGS
Do not leave children unattended inyour vehicle and do not let them playwith the moonroof. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injury.
When closing the moonroof, verify thatit is free of obstruction and make surethat children and pets are not in the proximityof the roof opening.
Note:With the panoramic moonroof panelfully open and vehicle speed increasing toapproximately 50 mph (80 km/h), themoonroof opening panel automaticallycloses approximately 8 in (20 cm) to reduceexcessive wind noise at higher speeds. Thisfeature only functions one time per key cycle,so you can open the glass further if desired.
The moonroof controls are located on theoverhead console and have a one-touchopen and close feature. To stop itsmovement during one-touch operation, pressthe control a second time.
