Mobile Apps
You can enable the control of compatiblemobile apps running on your Bluetooth orUSB device on SYNC 3. In order to enablemobile apps, SYNC 3 requires user consentto send and receive app authorizationinformation and updates using the data planassociated with the connected device.
The connected devices send data to FordMotor Company in the United States. Theencrypted information includes your VIN,SYNC 3 module number, anonymous usagestatistics and debugging information.Updates may take place.
Note:Not all Mobile Apps are compatiblewith the system.
Note:Standard data rates will apply. FordMotor Company is not responsible for anyadditional charges you may receive fromyour service provider, when your vehiclesends or receives data through theconnected device.

Ambient Lighting (If Equipped)
Tap a color once to active ambient lighting.This sets the color to the highest intensity.
You can drag the colors up and down toincrease or decrease the intensity.
To switch ambient lighting off, press theactive color once or drag the active color allthe way down to zero intensity.

Door Keypad Code
Select this button to add or erase a personaldoor keypad code. To add or erase apersonal code, you first need to enter thefive-digit factory set code. You can find thiscode on the owner's wallet card in the glovebox or from your authorized dealer.

Wi-Fi Issues

Position the vehicle close to the hotspot with the front of the vehiclefacing the hotspot direction and remove obstacles if possible. OtherWi-Fi, Bluetooth, microwave and cordless phones may cause interfer-ence.
Weak signal probably due to distancefrom the hotspot, obstruction or highinterference.
Disconnecting aftersuccessful connection.
If the vehicle is equipped with heated windshield, try positioning thevehicle so that the windshield is not facing the hotspot. If you havemetallic window tinting but not on the windshield, position the vehicleto face the hotspot. If all windows are tinted, you can open thewindows in the direction of the hotspot if that is feasible.
There may be an obstruction betweenSYNC 3 and the hotspot.Poor signal seen by SYNC3 despite being near ahotspot.
Try to remove other obstructions that may impact signal quality suchas opening the garage door.
Please set the network to visible and try again.The hotspot was defined as a hiddennetwork.A hotspot is not listed inthe list of availablenetworks.

Voice command issues

You may not be saying the name exactlyas it appears on your device.Make sure you are saying the complete title such as "California remixfeaturing Jennifer Nettles".
If there are any abbreviations in the name, like ESPN or CNN, youhave to spell those: "E-S-P-N" or "C-N-N".
Make sure that song titles, artists, album, and playlists names do nothave any special characters like *, - or +.
The song or artist name may have somespecial characters that are not beingrecognized by SYNC 3.

INFORMATION
Why Maintain Your Vehicle?
Carefully following the maintenanceschedule helps protect against major repairexpenses resulting from neglect orinadequate maintenance and may help toincrease the value of your vehicle when yousell or trade it. Keep all receipts forcompleted maintenance with your vehicle.
We have established regular maintenanceintervals for your vehicle based uponrigorous testing. It is important that you haveyour vehicle serviced at the proper times.These intervals serve two purposes; one isto maintain the reliability of your vehicle andthe second is to keep your cost of owningyour vehicle down.
It is your responsibility to have all scheduledmaintenance performed and to make surethat the materials used meet thespecifications identified in this owner'smanual. See Capacities and Specifications(page 344).
Failure to perform scheduled maintenanceinvalidates warranty coverage on partsaffected by the lack of maintenance.

Exceptions
There are several exceptions to the NormalSchedule:
Axle and PTU Maintenance
The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) and rear axle(AWD only) in your vehicle does not requireany normal scheduled maintenance unlessthe vehicle has experienced extendedperiods of extreme/severe duty cycle drivingor the PTU and/or the rear axle has beensubmerged in water. Checking the PTU andrear axle fluid is not necessary unless theunit shows signs of leakage. Contact anauthorized dealer for service.
California Fuel Filter Replacement
If you register your vehicle in California, theCalifornia Air Resources Board hasdetermined that the failure to perform thismaintenance item does not nullify theemission warranty or limit recall liabilitybefore the completion of your vehicle'suseful life. Ford Motor Company, however,urges you to have all recommendedmaintenance services performed at thespecified intervals and to record all vehicleservice.
Hot Climate Oil Change Intervals
Vehicles operating in the Middle East, NorthAfrica, Sub-Saharan Africa or locations withsimilar climates using an American PetroleumInstitute (API) Certified for Gasoline Engines(Certification mark) oil of SM or SN quality,the normal oil change interval is 3,000 mi(5,000 km).
If the available API SM or SN oils are notavailable, then the oil change interval is2,000 mi (3,000 km).

Do not place objects or mountequipment on or near the airbag cover,on the side of the seatbacks (of the frontseats), or in front seat areas that may comeinto contact with a deploying airbag. Failureto follow these instructions may increase therisk of personal injury in the event of a crash.

Do not fasten antenna cables tooriginal vehicle wiring, fuel pipes andbrake pipes.
Keep antenna and power cables atleast 4 in (10 cm) from any electronicmodules and airbags.
