If you see any corrosion on the battery orterminals, remove the cables from theterminals and clean with a wire brush. Youcan neutralize the acid with a solution ofbaking soda and water.
Because your vehicle’s engine iselectronically-controlled by a computer,some engine control settings are maintainedby power from the battery. Some enginecomputer settings, like the idle trim and fueltrim strategy, optimize the driveability andperformance of the engine. The clock andradio station presets are also maintained inmemory by power from the low-voltagebattery. These settings are erased when atechnician disconnects and connects thelow-voltage battery.
To restore the settings, do the following:
Note:Until you switch the ignition to the onposition, you will receive a message in yourinformation display stating that your vehicleis not in park.
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Shift into park (P) or neutral (N).
3. Switch off all accessories.
4. Press the brake pedal and start yourvehicle.
5. Run the engine until it reaches normaloperating temperature. While the engineis warming up, complete the following:Reset the clock. See Audio Unit (page365). Reset the power windowsbounce-back feature. See PowerWindows (page 95). Reset the radiostation presets. See Audio Unit (page365).
6. Allow the engine to idle for at least oneminute.
7.Drive the vehicle at least 10 mi (16 km) tocompletely relearn the idle trim and fueltrim strategy.
Note:If you do not allow the engine torelearn the idle and fuel trim strategy, theidle quality of your vehicle may be adverselyaffected until the engine computereventually relearns the idle trim and fuel trimstrategy.
Note:Certain features may not operate ifthe battery monitor system is not reset witha scan tool following a jump start or batteryreplacement. Normal electrical accessoryoperation should resume after your vehicleis left undisturbed for 8 hours.
Make sure that you dispose of old batteriesin an environmentally friendly way. Seekadvice from your local authority aboutrecycling old batteries.
If storing your vehicle for more than 30 dayswithout recharging the battery, werecommend that you disconnect the batterycables to maintain battery charge for quickstarting.

5. Locate the vertical adjuster on eachheadlamp. Turn the adjuster eitherclockwise or counterclockwise in orderto aim the headlamp.
6.Close the hood and switch off the lamps.
Horizontal Aim Adjustment
Horizontal aim is not required for this vehicleand is non-adjustable.
REMOVING A HEADLAMP
To gain access to the headlamp securingbolts and to remove the headlamp assembly,you must first remove the front fascia andfront bumper assemblies. We recommendyou see an authorized dealer.
CHANGING A BULB
WARNINGS
Switch all of the lamps and the ignitionoff. Failure to follow this warning couldresult in serious personal injury.
Bulbs can become hot. Let the bulbcool down before removing it. Failureto do so could result in personal injury.
Install in the reverse order unless otherwisestated.
High Intensity Discharge Headlamp (If
Equipped)
These lamps operate at a high voltage. Seean authorized dealer if they fail.
Front Direction Indicator
1. Remove the headlamp. See Removinga Headlamp (page 300).
2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwiseand remove it.
3.Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.
LED Lamps
LED lamps are not serviceable items. See anauthorized dealer if they fail.
The following lamps are LED:
•Side direction indicators.
•Approach lamp.

License Plate Lamp
1. Use a suitable tool, for example ascrewdriver, to carefully remove thelamp.
2. Remove the lamp.
3. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwiseand remove it.
4.Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.
BULB SPECIFICATION CHART
The specified replacement bulbs are in thechart below. Headlamp bulbs must bemarked with an authorized D.O.T.(Department of Transportation) for NorthAmerica to affirm lamp performance, lightbrightness and pattern and safe visibility. Thecorrect bulbs will not damage the lampassembly or void the lamp assembly warrantyand will provide quality bulb burn time.

Note:Passengers should not remain in yourvehicle when the vehicle is being jacked.
1. Park on a level surface, set the parkingbrake and activate the hazard flashers.
2. Place the transmission in park (P) andturn the engine off.
3. Remove the carpeted wheel cover.
4. Remove the wing nut that secures thespare tire by turning it counterclockwise.
5. Remove the jack from the foam holder.The lug wrench is located in the left sidestorage foam next to the spare tire.Remove the flat tire retainer strap fromthe jack base.
6. Block the diagonally opposite wheel.
7.Loosen each wheel lug nut one-half turncounterclockwise, but do not removethem until the wheel is raised off theground.
Note:Jack at the specified locations to avoiddamage to the vehicle.
8. The vehicle jacking points are shownhere, and are depicted on the warninglabel on the jack.
9. Small arrow-shaped marks on the sillsshow the location of the jacking points.
10. Remove the lug nuts with the lugwrench.

Note:If equipped with full wheel covers withexposed wheel nuts, remove the wheel nutsprior to removing the wheel cover or damageto the wheel cover may occur.
11.Replace the flat tire with the spare tire,making sure the valve stem is facingoutward. Reinstall the lug nuts until thewheel is snug against the hub. Do notfully tighten the lug nuts until the wheelhas been lowered.
12. Lower the wheel by turning the jackhandle counterclockwise.
13. Remove the jack and fully tighten thelug nuts in the order shown. SeeTechnical Specifications (page 342).
Stowing the flat tire
1.Put the jack and lug wrench away. Makesure the jack is fastened so it does notrattle when you drive.
2. Unblock the wheels.
3.Stow the flat tire on the floor in the cargoarea. Secure with the flat tire retainerstrap by following the next steps:
4. Locate the cargo tie-down near theseatback. Push the loop of the retainerstrap through the tie-down. Thread thenon-loop end through the loop.
5. Weave the retainer strap through thewheel openings.
6. Locate the front cargo tie-down at theopposite corner of the cargo area to thetie-down used in Step 4. Thread theretainer strap through the tie-down andpull tight.
7. Secure by tying a 2-half hitch knot.

To adjust the time, select the up and downarrows on either side of the screen. The
arrows on the left adjust the hour and arrowson the right adjust the minute. You can thenselect AM or PM.
