USB Ports
The USB ports are in the center console orbehind a small access door in the instrumentpanel.
This feature allows you to plug in USB mediadevices, memory sticks, flash drives or thumbdrives, and charge devices if they supportthis feature.
Select this option to play audio from yourUSB device.
Apps
The system supports the use of certain audioapps such as iHeartRadio through a USB orbluetooth-enabled device.
Each app gives you different on-screenoptions depending on the app's content.See Apps (page 477).
Supported Media Players, Formats andMetadata Information
The system is capable of hosting nearly anydigital media player, including iPod, iPhone,and most USB drives.
Supported audio formats include MP3, WMA,WAV, AAC, and FLAC.
Supported audio file extensions include MP3,WMA, WAV, M4A, M4B, AAC, and FLAC.
Supported USB file systems include: FAT,exFAT, and NTFS.
SYNC 3 is also able to organize the mediafrom your USB device by metadata tags.Metadata tags, which are descriptivesoftware identifiers embedded in the mediafiles, provide information about the file.
If your indexed media files contain noinformation embedded in these metadatatags, SYNC 3 may classify the emptymetadata tags as unknown.
SYNC 3 is capable of indexing up to 50,000songs per USB device, for up to 10 devices.
CLIMATE
Touch the climate button on the touchscreento access your climate control features.Depending on your vehicle line and optionpackage, your climate screen may lookdifferent from one of the screens shownbelow. Your screen may not contain all ofthe features shown.
Note:You can switch temperature unitsbetween Fahrenheit and Celsius. SeeSettings (page 480).

Smartphone Connectivity (If Equipped)
SYNC 3 allows you to use Apple CarPlay andAndroid Auto to access your phone.
When you use Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto, you can:
•Make calls.
•Send and receive messages.
•Listen to music.
•Use your phone's voice assistant.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto disablesome SYNC 3 features.
Most Apple CarPlay and Android Autofeatures use mobile data.
Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay requires an iPhone 5 or newerwith iOS 7.1 or newer. Updating to the latestiOS version is recommended.
1. Plug your phone into a USB port. SeeUSB Port (page 412).
2. Follow the prompts on the touchscreen.
3. Follow the prompts that appear on yourphone to allow access to Apple CarPlay.
After completing the setup, your phoneconnects to Apple CarPlay automaticallywhen plugged into a USB port.
To disable this feature from the Settingsscreen, select:

Your device is listed if SYNC detects AppleCarPlay. Select the name of your device.
Switch Apple CarPlay off.
To return to SYNC 3, go to the Apple CarPlayhome screen and select the SYNC app.

Android Auto
Android Auto is compatible with mostdevices with Android 5.0 or newer.
1.Download the Android Auto app to yourdevice from Google Play to prepare yourdevice (this may require mobile datausage).
Note:The Android Auto App may not beavailable within your current market.
2. Plug your device into a USB Port. SeeUSB Port (page 412).
3. Follow the prompt on the touchscreen.
4. Follow the prompts that appear on yourdevice.
Note:You may be prompted to updateadditional apps on your device. This mayrequire mobile data usage.
To disable this feature from the Settingsscreen, select:

APPS
The system enables voice, steering wheel,and touch screen control of SYNC 3 AppLinkenabled smartphone apps. When an app isrunning through AppLink, you can controlmain features of the app through voicecommands and steering wheel controls.
Note:Available AppLink enabled apps willvary by market.
Note:You must pair and connect yoursmartphone via Bluetooth to SYNC 3 toaccess AppLink.

Note:In order to use an app with SYNC 3,the app needs to be running in thebackground of your phone. If you shut downthe app on your phone, it shuts down theapp on SYNC 3 as well.

The screen lists available alternativenavigation sources using Applink.
Mobile Apps
You can enable the control of compatiblemobile apps running on your Bluetooth orUSB device on SYNC 3. In order to enablemobile apps, SYNC 3 requires user consentto send and receive app authorizationinformation and updates using the data planassociated with the connected device.
The connected devices send data to us inthe United States. The encrypted informationincludes your VIN, SYNC 3 module number,anonymous usage statistics and debugginginformation. Updates may take place.
Note:Not all Mobile Apps are compatiblewith the system.

Cell phone issues

To restart your system, shut down the engine, open and close thedoor, and then lock the door and wait for 2-3 minutes. Make sure thatyour SYNC 3 screen is black and the lighted USB port is off.The system may need to be restarted.During a call, I cannot hearthe other person and theycannot hear me.
Check your cell phone's compatibility.This is a cell phone-dependent feature.

Make sure you allow SYNC 3 to retrieve contacts from your phone.Refer to your cell manual.
