of the camera sensor is fogged up or cov-
ered with condensation or ice (Defog-
ging the windshield: → P.269)
• If the camera sensor is obstructed, such
as when the hood is open or a sticker is
attached to the windshield near the cam-
era sensor●
If the PCS warning ligh t continues to flash
or remains illuminated or the warning
message does not disappear even
though the vehicle has returned to nor-
mal, the system may be malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus
dealer immediately.■
If VSC is disabled●
If VSC is disabled ( → P.251), the pre-col-
lision brake assist and pre-collision brak-
ing functions are also disabled.●
The PCS warning light will turn on and
“VSC Turned Off Pre-Collision Brake
System Unavailable” will be displayed on
the multi-information display.

Lane departure alert function
When the system determines that the
vehicle might depart from its lane, a
warning is displayed on the multi-infor-
mation display, and either the warning
buzzer sounds or the steering wheel
vibrates to alert the driver. When the warning buzzer sounds or the
steering wheel vibrates, check the sur-
rounding road situation and carefully oper-
ate the steering wheel to move the vehicle
back to the center of the lane.LDA (Lane Departure Alert
with steering control) When driving on highways and
freeways with white (yellow) lines,
this function alerts the driver when
the vehicle might depart from its
lane and provides assistance by
operating the steering wheel to
keep the vehicle in its lane.
The LDA system recognizes visible
white (yellow) lines with the camera
sensor on the upper portion of the
front windshield.

more difficult to recognize than lines that

The white (yellow) lines cross over a curb,

The vehicle is driven on a bright surface,

The vehicle is driven on a surface that is
bright due to reflected light, etc.●
The vehicle is driven in an area where the
brightness changes suddenly, such as at
the entrances and exits of tunnels, etc.●
Light from the headlights of an oncoming
vehicle, the sun, etc. enters the camera.●
The vehicle is driven where the road
diverges, merges, etc.●
The vehicle is driven on a slope.●
The vehicle is driven on a road which tilts
left or right, or a winding road.●

The traffic lane is ex cessively narrow or
wide.●
The vehicle is extremely tilted due to car-
rying heavy luggage or having improper
tire pressure.

The distance to the preceding vehicle is
extremely short.
●
The vehicle is moving up and down a
large amount due to road conditions
during driving (poor roads or road
seams).
●
The headlight lenses are dirty and emit a
faint amount of light at night, or the beam
axis has deviated.
●
The vehicle is struck by a crosswind. ●
The vehicle has just changed lanes or
crossed an intersection. ●
Snow tires, etc. are equipped. ■
Warning message
If the following warning message is dis-
played on the multi-in formation display and
the LDA indicator illuminates in orange, fol-
low the appropriate troubleshooting proce-
dure.

Maintenance and care 5 Replace the light bulb.
6 Turn clockwise and set the bulb
base.
7 Attach the clip to the cover.
Push up on the center of the clip.
Attach the clip. 8 Attach the cover.
Align the 2 tabs positions and close
the cover.
Fix the cover by pushing the center
of the clip.
9 Install the engine compartment
cover. ( → P.328)

Replacing light bulbs ●
Be sure to stop the hybrid system and
turn off the lights. Do not attempt to
replace the bulb immediately after
turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may
cause burns.
●
Do not touch the glass portion of the
light bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion,
use and hold with a clean dry cloth to
avoid getting moisture and oils on the
bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or
dropped, it may blow out or crack.
●
Fully install light bulbs and any parts
used to secure them. Failure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or
water entering the he adlight unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause
condensation to build up on the lens.
●
Do not attempt to repair or disassem-
ble light bulbs, connectors, electric cir-
cuits or component parts.
Doing so may result in death or serious
injury due to electric shock. A

When trouble arises coolant is unavailable.
6 Start the hybrid system and turn the
air conditioning system on to check
that the radiator cooling fans oper-
ate and to check for coolant leaks
from the radiator or hoses.The fans operate when the air conditioning
system is turned on immediately after a
cold start. Confirm that the fans are oper-
ating by checking the fan sound and air
flow. If it is difficult to check these, turn the
air conditioning system on and off repeat-
edly.
(The fans may not oper ate in freezing tem-
peratures.)
7 If the fans are not operating:
Stop the hybrid system immediately
and contact your Lexus dealer.
If the fans are operating:
Have the vehicle inspected at the
nearest Lexus dealer.
8 Check if “Engine Coolant Temp
High” is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display.
If the message does not disappear:
Stop the hybrid system and contact
your Lexus dealer.
If the message is not displayed:
Have the vehicle inspected at the
nearest Lexus dealer.
If “Hybrid System Overheated” is
shown on the multi-information dis-
play
1 Stop the vehicle in a safe place.
2 Stop the hybrid system and care-
fully lift the hood.
3 After the hybrid system has cooled
down, inspect the hoses and radia-
tor core (radiato r) for any leaks.
Radiator
Cooling fans If a large amount of coolant leaks, immedi-
ately contact your Lexus dealer.
4 The coolant level is satisfactory if it
is between the “FULL” and “LOW”
lines on the reservoir.
