Before driving
Trunk
The trunk can be opened using the
trunk opener switch, entry function
or wireless remote control.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
■Before driving
●Make sure that the trunk lid is fully
closed. If the trunk lid is not fully
closed, it may open unexpectedly
while driving and hit near-by objects or
luggage in the trun k may be thrown
out, causing an accident.
●Do not allow children to play in the
trunk.
If a child is accidentally locked in the
trunk, they could suffer from heat
exhaustion, suffocation or other inju-
ries.
●Do not allow a child to open or close
the trunk lid.
Doing so may cause the trunk lid to
open unexpectedly, or cause the
child’s hands, head, or neck to be
caught by the closing trunk lid.
■Important points while driving
Never let anyone sit in the trunk. In the
event of sudden braking or a collision,
they are susceptible to death or serious
injury.
■Using the trunk
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause parts of the
body to be caught, resulting in serious
injury.
●Remove any heavy loads, such as snow
and ice, from the trunk lid before
opening it. Failure to do so may cause
the trunk lid to suddenly shut again
after it is opened.
●When opening or closing the trunk lid,
thoroughly check to make sure the
surrounding area is safe.
●If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure
they are safe and let them know that
the trunk is about to open or close.
●Use caution when opening or closing
the trunk lid in windy weather as it may
move abruptly in strong wind.
●On an incline it is more difficult to
open or close the trunk lid than on a
level surface, so bewa re of the trunk lid
unexpectedly opening or closing by
itself. Make sure th at the trunk lid is
fully open and secure before using the
trunk.
●When opening the tr unk lid, take care
so that it does no t hit anyone in the
face or any other part of the body.
●When closing the trunk lid, take extra
care to prevent your fingers etc. from
being caught.
●When closing the trunk lid, make sure
to press it lightly on its outer surface. If
the trunk grip is used to fully close the
trunk lid, it may resu lt in hands or arms
being caught.

switch for a further 1 second or more.
If you release the switch while the window is
moving, start again from the beginning.
If the window reverses and cannot be fully
closed or opened, have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer.
■Door lock linked window operation
●The power windows can be opened and
closed using the mechanical key.*

■Power windows open warning buzzer
The buzzer sounds and “Window Open” is
shown on the multi-information display in
the instrument cluster when the engine
switch
driver’s door is opened with the power win-
dows open.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. linked door lock operation)
can be changed.

children from accidentally opening or

■Closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all the
power window operations, including
the operation for the passengers. In
order to prevent accidental operation,
especially by a child, do not let a child
operate the power windows. It is possi-
ble for children and other passengers
to have body parts caught in the power
window. Also, when riding with a child,
it is recommended to use the window
lock switch. ( P.126)
●Check to make sure that all passen-
gers do not have any part of their body
in a position where it could be caught
when a window is being operated.
●When using the wireless remote con-
trol or mechanical key and operating
the power windows, operate the
power window after checking to make
sure that there is no possibility of any
passenger having any of their body
parts caught in the window. Also do
not let a child operate window by the
wireless remote control or mechanical
key. It is possible for children and other
passengers to get caught in the power
window.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the
engine switch
the key and exit the vehicle along with
the child. There may be accidental
operation, due to mischief, etc., that
may possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to
intentionally activa te the jam protec-
tion function.
●The jam protection function may not
work if something gets jammed just
before the window is fully closed. Be
careful not to get any part of your body
jammed in the window.
■Catch protection function
●Never use any part of your body or
clothing to intentionally activate the
catch protection function.
●The catch protection function may not
work if something gets caught just
before the window is fully opened. Be
careful not to get any part of your body
or clothing caught in the window.

■ECB (Electronically Controlled
Brake System)
The electronically controlled system
generates braking force correspond-
ing to the brake operation
■ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)
Helps to prevent wheel lock when the
brakes are applied suddenly, or if the
brakes are applied while driving on a
slippery road surface
■Brake assist
Generates an increased level of brak-
ing force after the brake pedal is
depressed when the system detects a
panic stop situation
■VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
Helps the driver to control skidding
when swerving sudden ly or turning on
slippery road surfaces
■Secondary Collision Brake
When the airbag sensor detects a colli-
sion, the brakes and brake lights are
automatically controlled to reduce the

●If there are people near the active rear
wing, make sure that there is no possi-
bility of their clothing, personal
belongings or body parts getting
caught. Children especially should be
warned not to touch the active rear
wing while it is being operated.
●If there is a risk that an object may
become caught on the active rear
wing during operation, stop operation
immediately.
Driving assist systems
To keep safety and performance,
the following systems operate auto-
matically in response to various
driving situations. Be aware, how-
ever, that these systems are supple-
mentary and should not be relied
upon too heavily when operating
the vehicle.

■Locking and unlocking the door
1 Push in the depression on the front
edge of the driver’s door handle.
2 Insert the mechanical key while
pulling on the driver’s door handle.
3 Turn the key in order to perform the
following operations.
Locks both side doors
Closes the windows
* (turn and
hold)
Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks the
driver’s door. Turning the key once again
within 5 seconds unlocks the other door.
Opens the windows* (turn and
hold)
*: This setting must be customized at your Lexus dealer.
■Opening the trunk
Unlock the doors, and press the trunk opener switch.

Depress the brake pedal.
2 Touch the Lexus emblem side of the
electronic key to the engine switch
When the electronic key is detected, a
buzzer sounds and the engine switch
mode
When the smart access system with push-
button start is deactivated in customization
setting, the engine switch
will turn to ACCESSORY mode.

Operate the power window after check-
ing to make sure that there is no possibil-
