2984-6. Driving tips
IS350 AWD/IS350/IS300 AWD/IS300_U(OM53E34U)
●Park the vehicle and move the shift lever to P without setting the parking
brake. The parking brake may freeze up, preventing it from being released. If
the vehicle is parked without setting the parking brake, make sure to block the
wheels.
Failure to do so may be dangerous because it may cause the vehicle to move
unexpectedly, possibly leading to an accident.
●If the vehicle is parked without setting the parking brake, confirm that the shift
lever cannot be moved out of P
*.
*: The shift lever will be locked if it is atte mpted to be shifted from P to any other posi-
tion without depressing the brake pedal. If the shift lever can be shifted from P, there
may be a problem with the shift lock sy stem. Have the vehicle inspected by your
Lexus dealer immediately.
Except vehicles with 18-inch tires
Use the correct tire chain size when mounting the tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire size.

6
Interior features
IS350 AWD/IS350/IS300 AWD/IS300_U(OM53E34U)
■When the outside temperature falls to nearly 32 °F (0 °C)
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed or “A/C” is
selected.
■Ventilation and air conditioning odors
●To let fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode.
●During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter into and accu-
mulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause odor to be emitted from the
vents.
●To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air mode prior
to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be dela yed for a short period of time immediately
after the air conditioning system is started in automatic mode.
■Air conditioning filter
→P. 498
■Customization
Settings (e.g. A/C Auto switch operation) can be changed.
(Customizable features: →P. 617)
WARNING
■To prevent the windshield from fogging up
●Do not use during cool air operation in extremely humid weather. The differ-
ence between the temperature of the outside air and that of the windshield can cause
the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, blocking your vision.
■To prevent burns
●Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces when the outside rear view mirror defog-
gers are on.
●Do not touch the glass at lower part of the windshield or to the side of the front pillars
when the windshield wiper de-icer is on.
NOTICE
■To prevent battery discharge
Do not leave the air conditioni ng system on longer than necessary when the engine is
stopped.
●Do not place anything on the instrument
panel which may cover th e air outlets. Other-
wise, air flow may be obstructed, preventing
the windshield defoggers from defogging.

4206-3. Using the interior lights
IS350 AWD/IS350/IS300 AWD/IS300_U(OM53E34U)
■The interior lights and personal lights can be operated when
The interior lights and personal lights can be used regardless of the engine switch mode.
However, when the engine switch is turned off, they can be used only when the battery
protection function is not operating.
■Battery protection function
To prevent the battery from being discha rged, approximately 20 minutes after the
engine switch is turned off, the power supplied to the interi or lights, personal lights, and
other lights will be cut off automatically. (If the interior lights, etc. are left on when the
engine switch is turned off, they will be turned off automatically.)
To turn the interior lights, etc. back on, tu rn the engine switch to ACCESSORY or IGNI-
TION ON mode or operate the interior light switch until the interior lights turn on.
If any of the lights are illuminated automatica lly due to the illuminated entry system, the
battery protection function will be canceled.
■Illuminated entry system
The lights automatically turn on/off according to engine switch mode, the presence of the
electronic key, whether the doors are locked/unlocked, and whether the doors are
opened/closed.
■Customization
Setting (e.g. the time elapsed before lights turn off) can be changed.
(Customizable features: →P. 611)
