In case of an emergency (if
equipped)
If the power door lock switch does not
operate electrically, the only way to lock the door(s) is with the mechanical
key from the outside key hole.
Doors without the outside key hole,
you can lock the door as follows: 1. Open the door.
2. Insert the key into the emergency door lock hole and turn the key
horizontally to lock (1).
3. Close the door securely.
NOTICE
Once the tailgate is closed when the
power door lock switch does not op‐
erate electrically, you will not be
able to open the tailgate.

If the inner door handle is pulled when
the door is locked, the door will unlock and open.

Rear door
If the inner door handle is pulled once
when the door is locked, the door will unlock.
If the inner door handle is pulled once
more, the door will open.
WARNING
nDoor lock malfunction
If a power door lock ever fails tofunction while you are in the vehicle,try one or more of the followingtechniques to exit:•Operate the door unlock featurerepeatedly (both electronic andmanual) while simultaneously pull‐ing on the door handle.
•Operate the other door locks andhandles, front and rear.
•Lower a front window and use thekey to unlock the door from out‐side.
•Move to the cargo area and openthe tailgate.
WARNING
Do not pull the inner door handle ofdriver's (or passenger's) door whilethe vehicle is moving.
With central door lock/unlock
switch
It is operated by pressing the door lock/
unlock switch. • When you press the central door lock switch, all vehicle doors will lock andthe indicator light on the switch will
illuminate. • If any front door is opened when the
switch is pressed, all doors will not
lock.
• If any door is unlocked, the indicator of the central door lock switch will go
off.
• When you press the central door un‐ lock switch, all vehicle doors will un‐
lock.
• If one of the rear door is unlocked while all doors are locked, the indica‐tor will blink.
NOTICE
Once the doors are locked with the
transmitter or smart key, the doors
cannot be unlocked with the central
door lock/ unlock switch.

•The doors should always be fullyclosed and locked while the vehicleis in motion to prevent accidentalopening of the door. Locked doorswill also discourage potential in‐truders when the vehicle stops orslows down.
•Be careful when opening doors andwatch for vehicles, motorcycles,bicycles or pedestrians approach‐ing the vehicle in the path of thedoor. Opening a door when some‐thing is approaching can causedamage or injury.
WARNING
nUnlocked vehicles
Leaving your vehicle unlocked can in‐vite theft or possible harm to you orothers from someone hiding in yourvehicle while you are gone. Alwaysremove the ignition key, engage theparking brake, close all windows andlock all doors when leaving your ve‐hicle unattended.

nUnattended children
An enclosed vehicle can become ex‐tremely hot, causing death or severeinjury to unattended children or ani‐mals who cannot escape the vehicle.Furthermore, children might operatefeatures of the vehicle that could in‐jure them, or they could encounterother harm, possibly from someonegaining entry to the vehicle. Neverleave children or animals unattendedin your vehicle.
Impact sensing door unlock
system (if equipped)
All doors will automatically unlock after
an impact causes the air bags to de‐ ploy.
Speed sensing door lock system
(if equipped)
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h. And all doors will be automat‐
ically unlocked when you turn the en‐ gine off and when you remove the igni‐
tion key. (if equipped)
Child-protector rear door lock
The child safety lock is provided to help
prevent children from accidentally opening the rear doors from inside the
vehicle. The rear door safety locks
should be used whenever children are in the vehicle. 1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert a key (or screwdriver) into the hole and turn it to the lock (
)
position. When the child safety lock
is in the lock position, the rear door
will not open even though the inner
door handle is pulled.
3. Close the rear door.

To open the rear door, pull the outside
door handle.
Even though the doors may be un‐ locked, the rear door will not open by
pulling the inner door handle until the
rear door child safety lock is unlocked.
WARNING
nRear door locks
If children accidentally open the reardoors while the vehicle is in motion,they could fall out and be severelyinjured or killed. To prevent childrenfrom opening the rear doors fromthe inside, the rear door safety locksshould be used whenever childrenare in the vehicle.
