The rain-sensing auto wiper system can au-
tomatically turn on the wipers and adjust the
wiper speed depending on the rainfall and the
vehicle speed by using the rain sensor located
on the upper part of the windshield.
To set the rain-sensing auto wiper system,
place the lever in the AUTO position
1. The
wiper will sweep once while the ignition
switch is in the ON position.
The rain sensor sensitivity level can be ad-
justed by turning the knob toward the front
2(High) or toward the rear3(Low).
– High — High sensitive operation
– Low — Low sensitive operation
To turn the rain-sensing auto wiper system
off, rotate the lever to the OFF position, or
rotate the lever to the LO or HI position.
NOTE:
The Rain Sensor may be disabled. For addi-
tional information, refer to “How to use the
vehicle information display” in this section.
REAR SWITCH OPERATION
WARNING
In freezing temperatures the washer solu-
tion may freeze on the rear window and
obscure your vision which may lead to an
accident. Warm the rear window with the
defogger before you wash the rear window.
CAUTION
∙ Do not operate the washer continuously for more than 30 seconds. ∙ Do not operate the washer if the
windshield-washer fluid reservoir is
empty.
∙ Do not fill the windshield-washer fluid reservoir with windshield-washer fluid
concentrates at full strength. Some
methyl alcohol based windshield-washer
fluid concentrates may permanently
stain the grille if spilled while filling the
windshield-washer fluid reservoir.
∙ Pre-mix windshield-washer fluid concen- trates with water to the manufacturer’s
recommended levels before pouring the
fluid into the windshield-washer fluid
reservoir. Do not use the windshield-
washer fluid reservoir to mix the
windshield-washer fluid concentrate and
water.
If the rear window wiper operation is inter-
rupted by snow, etc., the wiper may stop
moving to protect its motor. If this occurs,
turn the wiper switch to OFF and remove the
snow, etc. on and around the wiper arms.
After about 1 minute, turn the switch on
again to operate the wiper.
The rear window wiper and washer operate
when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Turn the switch clockwise from the OFF po-
sition to operate the wiper.

WARNING
∙ Do not adjust the steering wheel whiledriving. You could lose control of your ve-
hicle and cause an accident.
∙ Do not adjust the steering wheel any closer to you than is necessary for proper
steering operation and comfort. The
driver’s air bag inflates with great force.
If you are unrestrained, leaning forward,
sitting sideways or out of position in any
way, you are at greater risk of injury or
death in a crash. You may also receive
serious or fatal injuries from the air bag if
you are up against it when it inflates. Al-
ways sit back against the seatback and as
far away as practical from the steering
wheel. Always use the seat belts.
TILT AND TELESCOPIC
OPERATION
To adjust the steering wheel move the switch1
in the following directions:
∙ Adjust the steering wheel up or down in direction
2to the desired tilt position.
∙ Adjust the steering wheel forward or backward in direction
3to the desired
telescopic position.

the spare tire.
9. After removing the spare tire from under the vehicle, be sure to crank the cable up
by rotating the winch socket clockwise
to stow it.
10. Securely store the flat tire, tools and jacking equipment in the vehicle.
CAUTION
∙ Make sure safety cable is coiled abovespare tire when reinstalling spare
tire/wheel.
∙ When re-installing the spare tire under the vehicle after use, be sure to secure it
with the tire stem facing down toward
the ground. If the spare tire is improperly
secured with the tire stem facing up to-
wards the bottom of the vehicle, there is
an increased risk of separating from the
vehicle in the event of a crash which may
pose a hazard in traffic or risk of injury to
others.LCE2350LCE2351
6-6In case of emergency
1. Loosen each wheel nut one or two turnsby turning counterclockwise with the
wheel nut wrench. Do not remove the
wheel nuts until the tire is off the
ground. 2. Place the jack directly under the jack-up
point as illustrated so the top of the jack
contacts the vehicle at the jack-up point.
The jack-up points are indicated by
stamped arrows on the side of the
frame. The jack should be used on firm and level
ground.

2. Start the engine and let it idle until itreaches operating temperature, then
turn it off.
3. Remove the oil filler cap
Aby turning it
counterclockwise. 4. Place a large drain pan under the drain
plug
B.
5. Remove the drain plug
Bwith a wrench
by turning it counterclockwise and com-
pletely drain the oil.
If the oil filter is to be changed, remove
and replace it at this time. For additional
information, refer to “Changing engine
oil filter” in this section.
∙ Waste oil must be disposed of properly.
∙ Check your local regulations.
WARNING
∙ Prolonged and repeated contact with
used engine oil may cause skin cancer.
∙ Try to avoid direct skin contact with used oil. If skin contact is made, wash thor-
oughly with soap or hand cleaner as soon
as possible.
∙ Keep used engine oil out of reach of children.
CAUTION
Be careful not to burn yourself. The engine
oil may be hot. 6. Clean and reinstall the drain plug and a
new washer. Securely tighten the drain
plug with a wrench. Do not use excessive
force.
Drain plug tightening torque: 34 N·m (25 ft-lb)
7. Refill engine with recommended oil through the oil filler opening, then install
the oil filler cap securely.
For additional information on drain and
refill capacity, refer to “Recommended
fluids/lubricants and capacities” in the
“Technical and consumer information”
section of this manual.
The drain and refill capacity depends on
the oil temperature and drain time. Use
these specifications for reference only.
Always use the dipstick to determine
when the proper amount of oil is in the
engine.
8. Start the engine. Check for leakage around the drain plug and oil filter. Cor-
rect as required.
9. Turn the engine off and wait more than 10 minutes. Check the oil level with the
dipstick. Add engine oil if necessary.

∙ Be sure to remove any old gasket ma-terial remaining on the sealing surface
of the engine. Failure to do so could
lead to an oil leak and engine damage.
∙ The dipstick must be inserted in place to prevent oil spillage from the dipstick
hole when filling the engine with oil.
6. Coat the gasket on the new filter with clean engine oil. 7. Screw on the oil filter until a slight resis-
tance is felt, then tighten an additional
2/3 turn.
