Avoid quick starting or abrupt acceleration.
When the warning turns off, the vehicle can
be driven.
If the warning appears again soon after it
turns off, it is recommended that you have
the vehicle checked by an INFINITI retailer.
Do not drive the vehicle with the warning
on. Doing so could cause a hybrid system
malfunction.
WARNING
Do not hold the vehicle in a stopped
position on an uphill grade by depressing
the accelerator or by slowly creeping
forward. This may cause damage to the
transmission or the vehicle may enter
traffic causing serious injury or death.
Always use the brake pedal when stop-
ping on an uphill grade.
CAUTION
If you continue to drive the vehicle while
the warning is displayed, the vehicle may
become undriveable. If this occurs, place
the shift lever in the “P” position and
wait for a short period of time with the
vehicle stopped until the display goesout. In this case, the warning will be
displayed alternately with the SHIFT “P”
warning. (See “4. SHIFT “P” warning”
(P.2-23).)
Do not drive the vehicle while this is
displayed. Doing so could cause a hybrid
system malfunction.
18. Headlight warning
This warning appears if the LED headlights
are malfunctioning. It is recommended you
have the system checked by an INFINITI
retailer.
19. Front radar obstruction warning
(if so equipped)
This warning appears when the sensor area
of the front bumper is covered with dirt or is
obstructed, making it impossible to detect a
vehicle ahead.
The following systems will be automatically
canceled.
. Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system
. Distance Control Assist (DCA) system
. Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) sys-
tem
. Predictive Forward Collision Warning
(PFCW) system For more details, see “Intelligent Cruise
Control (ICC)” (P.5-66), “Distance Control
Assist (DCA)” (P.5-88), “Forward Emer-
gency Braking (FEB)” (P.5-101) or “Predic-
tive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW)”
(P.5-108).
20. Back-up Collision Intervention
(BCI) not available warning (if so
equipped)
This warning appears when the Back-up
Collision Intervention (BCI) system is tem-
porarily not available.
For more details, see “Back-up Collision
Intervention (BCI)” (P.5-53).
21. Back-up Collision Intervention
(BCI) system malfunction warning
(if so equipped)
This warning appears when the Back-up
Collision Intervention (BCI) system is not
functioning properly.
For more details, see “Back-up Collision
Intervention (BCI)” (P.5-53).

SONAR SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations
for the sonar function. Failure to operate
the vehicle in accordance with these
system limitations could result in serious
injury or death.
. Inclement weather or ultrasonic
sources such as an automatic car
wash, a truck’s compressed-air brakes or a pneumatic drill may affect
the function of the system, including
reduced performance or a false acti-
vation.
. The system is not designed to pre-
vent contact with small or moving
objects.
. The system will not detect small
objects below the bumper, and may
not detect objects close to the bum-
per or on the ground.
. The system may not detect the
following objects:
— Fluffy objects such as snow, cloth, cotton, grass or wool.
— Thin objects such as rope, wire or chain.
— Wedge-shaped objects.
. If your vehicle sustains damage to the
bumper fascia, leaving it misaligned
or bent, the sensing zone may be
altered causing inaccurate measure-
ment of objects or false alarms.
CAUTION
Excessive noise (such as audio system
volume or an open vehicle window) will

BSI SYSTEM OPERATION
The BSI system operates above approxi-
mately 37 MPH (60 km/h).
If the radar sensors detect a vehicle in the
detection zone, the side indicator light
illuminates.
If the turn signal is then activated, the
system chimes (twice) and the side indicator
light flashes. The side indicator light con-
tinues to flash until the detected vehicle
leaves the detection zone.
If the BSI system is ON and your vehicle
approaches a lane marker while another
vehicle is in the detection zone, the system
chimes (three times) and the side indicator
light flashes. Then the BSI system slightly
applies the brakes to help return the vehicle
back to the center of the driving lane. The
BSI system operates regardless of turn
signal usage.
NOTE:
.Warning and system application of the
brakes will only be activated if the side
indicator light is already illuminated
when your vehicle approaches a lane
marker. If another vehicle comes into
the detection zone after your vehicle has
crossed a lane marker, no warning or
system application of the brakes will be
activated. (See “BSI driving situations”

Do not strike or damage the area around the
radar sensors.
It is recommended you visit an INFINITI
retailer if the area around the radar sensors
is damaged due to a collision.
The lane camera unit
for BSI system is
located above the inside mirror. To keep the
proper operation of BSI and prevent a
system malfunction, be sure to observe the
following:
. Always keep the windshield clean.
. Do not attach a sticker (including trans-
parent material) or install an accessory
near the camera unit.
. Do not place reflective materials, such as
white paper or a mirror, on the instru-
ment panel. The reflection of sunlight
may adversely affect the camera unit’s
capability of detecting the lane markers.
. Do not strike or damage the areas around
the camera unit. Do not touch the
camera lens or remove the screw located
on the camera unit. It is recommended
you contact an INFINITI retailer if the
camera unit is damaged due to an
accident.

conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference.
2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may
cause undesired operation.

24.25GHz
Field Strength: Not greater than 2.5V/m
peak (0.25V/m average) at a distance of 3 m
The manufacturer is not responsible for any
radio or TV interference caused by un-
authorized modifications to this equipment.
Such modifications could void the user’s
authority to operate the equipment.WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions for proper use of the BCI
system could result in serious injury or
death.
. The BCI system is not a replacement
for proper driving procedure, is not
designed to prevent contact with
vehicles or objects and does not
provide full brake power. When back-
ing out of parking spaces, always use
the inside and rear mirrors and turn
and look in the direction you will
move. Never rely solely on the BCI
system.
. There is a limitation to the detection
capability of the radar or the sonar.
Using the BCI system under some
road, ground, traffic or weather con-
ditions could lead to improper system
operation. Always rely on your own
operation to avoid accidents.
The BCI system can help alert the driver of
an approaching vehicle or objects behind the
vehicle when the driver is backing out of a
parking space.
