Controls
The power mode is in ON to use the seat
heaters. The HI setting heats the seats faster
than the LO setting.
Press the seat heater button:
Once - The HI setting (three indicators on)
Twice - The MID setting (two indicators on)
Three times - The LO setting (one indicator on)
Four times - The OFF setting (no indicators on)
When the power mode is turn on after it is
turned off, the previous setting of seat heaters
is maintained.
■Front Seat Heaters*1 Front Seat Heaters*
Do not use the seat heaters even in LO when the
engine is off. Under such conditions, the battery may
be weakened, making the engine difficult to start.
After a certain period of time, the strength setting for
the seat heater as well as that for the seat ventilation
system will automatically be reduced by one level at a
time until the seat heater or ventilation system shuts
off. The elapsed time varies according to the interior
environment.
3WARNING
Heat induced burns are possible when
using seat heaters.
Persons with a diminished ability to sense
temperature (e.g., persons with diabetes,
lower-limb nerve damage, or paralysis) or
with sensitive skin should not use seat
heaters.

There is no heater in the rear center seating
position.
Press the seat heater button:
Once - The HI setting (three indicators on)
Twice - The MID setting (two indicators on)
Three times - The LO setting (one indicator on)
Four times - The OFF se tting (no indicators on)
The rear seat heaters is turned off every time
you start the engine, even if you turned it on
the last time you drove the vehicle.

Do not use the seat heaters even in LO when the
engine is off. Under such conditions, the battery may
be weakened, making the engine difficult to start.
The rear seat heater is turned off every time you start
the engine, even if you turned it on the last time you
drove the vehicle.

maintained.

1.Make sure the parking brake is applied.
u The electric parking brake indicator
comes on for 15 seconds when you pull
up the electric parking brake switch.
u The parking brake must be applied to
start the engine.
2. Check that the shift lever is in
(P, then
depress the brake pedal.
u Although it is possibl e to start the vehicle
in
(N with the parking brake applied, it is
safer to start it in
(P.
3. Turn the ignition switch to START

without depressing the accelerator pedal.
Models without smart entry system
1 Starting the Engine
Keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal when
starting the engine.
The engine is harder to st art in cold weather and in
thinner air found at altitudes above 8,000 feet (2,400
meters).
When starting the engine in cold weather, turn off all
electrical accessories such as the lights, climate
control system, and rear de fogger in order to reduce
battery drain.
If you live in a region where winter is extremely cold,
an engine block heater will improve starting and
warming of the engine. Cons ult a dealer for details.
If the exhaust system sounds abnormal or you can
smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle, have your vehicle
checked by a dealer. There may be a problem with
the engine or exhaust system.
Do not hold the key in START
( e for more than 10
seconds.
•If the engine does not sta rt right away, wait for at
least 30 seconds before trying again.
•If the engine starts, but then immediately stops,
wait at least 30 seconds before repeating step 3
while gently depressing the accelerator pedal.
Release the accelerator pedal once the engine
starts.

the engine.
•Another registered smart entry remote is in the
vehicle.
•There is an antenna failure.
•Door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The engine oil pressure is low.•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.
•The security system alarm is not set.
While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The air conditioning is acti vated in recirculation
mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger and door mirror heaters are
activated.
•The seat and heated steering wheel are activated*

Go within the range,
and try again.
The exterior lights flash once if the engine stops successfully.
