911 ASSIST
WARNING: Unless the 911 Assist
setting is set on before a crash, the system
will not dial for help which could delay
response time, potentially increasing the
risk of serious injury or death after a crash. WARNING: Do not wait for 911 Assist
to make an emergency call if you can do it
yourself. Dial emergency services
immediately to avoid delayed response
time which could increase the risk of
serious injury or death after a crash. If you
do not hear 911 Assist within five seconds
of the crash, the system or phone may be
damaged or non-functional. WARNING: Always place your phone
in a secure location in your vehicle so it
does not become a projectile or get
damaged in a crash. Failure to do so may
cause serious injury to someone or damage
the phone which could prevent 911 Assist
from working properly.
Note: The SYNC 911 Assist feature must be
set on before the incident.
Note: The SYNC 911 Assist feature only
operates in the U.S., Canada or in a territory
in which 911 is the emergency number.
Note: Before setting this feature on, make
sure that you read the 911 Assist Privacy
Notice later in this section for important
information.
Note: If any user sets 911 Assist to on or off,
that setting applies for all paired phones. If
911 Assist is switched off and the phone is
connected to SYNC, an icon displays on the
status bar.
Note: Every phone operates differently.
While SYNC 911 Assist works with most
cellular phones, some may have trouble
using this feature. If a crash deploys an airbag (excluding
knee airbags and rear inflatable seatbelts
[if equipped]) or activates the fuel pump
shut-off, your SYNC-equipped vehicle may
be able to contact emergency services by
dialing 911 through a paired and connected
Bluetooth-enabled phone. You can learn
more about the 911 Assist feature, by

To make sure that 911 Assist works
correctly:
• SYNC must be powered and working
properly at the time of the incident and
throughout feature activation and use.
• The 911 Assist feature must be set on
before the incident.
• You must pair and connect a
Bluetooth-enabled and compatible
cell phone to SYNC.
• A connected Bluetooth-enabled phone
must have the ability to make and
maintain an outgoing call at the time
of the incident.
• A connected Bluetooth-enabled phone
must have adequate network coverage,
battery power and signal strength.
• The vehicle must have battery power
and be located in the U.S., Canada or
in a territory in which 911 is the
emergency number.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys with
restricted driving modes to promote good
driving habits. You can only program up to
two keys with the restrictions. Any keys
that you did not program are administrator
keys or admin keys.
You can use admin keys to:
•
Create a MyKey with certain vehicle
restrictions.
• Program certain MyKey settings.
• Clear all MyKey restrictions.
After you program a MyKey, you can view
the following information through the
information display:
• The total number of admin keys and
MyKeys for your vehicle.
• The total distance a MyKey driver
traveled with your vehicle.
Note: Every MyKey receives the same
restrictions and settings. You cannot
program them individually.
Note: For vehicles equipped with a
push-button start switch: When both a
MyKey and an admin key are present when
you start your vehicle, the system recognizes
the admin key only. Standard Settings
Not every vehicle includes the features
listed below. If your vehicle has this
equipment, then you cannot change the
following settings when using a MyKey:
•
Seatbelt reminder or Belt-Minder™.
MyKey mutes the audio system until
drivers, and in some instances,
passengers, fasten their seatbelts.
Note: If your vehicle includes an
AM/FM radio or a very basic audio
system, then the radio may not mute.
• Earlier low-fuel warning. The low-fuel
warning activates earlier for MyKey
drivers, giving them more time to refuel.
• Certain driver alerts, stability systems
or parking aids turn on automatically
when you use the MyKey system. For
example, Blind Spot Information
System (BLIS), cross traffic alert, lane
departure warning or forward collision
warning. Note:
MyKey drivers may be
able to turn the lane departure warning
feature off, but this feature turns back
on automatically with every new key
cycle.
• Restricted touchscreen operation in
some markets. For example, MyKey
may prevent manual navigation
destination input while the vehicle is in
any gear other than park (P) or when
the vehicle reaches a certain rate of
speed.
• Satellite radio adult content
restrictions, if this feature is available
in your market.
Optional Settings
You can configure certain vehicle feature
settings when you first create a MyKey. You
can also change the settings afterward
with an admin key.

Note:
Not every feature applies to every
vehicle in every market. When they are
available for your vehicle, then they appear
in your information display, providing
choices to switch them on or off, or to select
a more specific setting.
• Various vehicle speed limits so the
MyKey driver cannot exceed certain
speeds. The information display shows
warnings followed by an audible tone
when the MyKey driver reaches the set
speed. You cannot override the set
speed by fully depressing the
accelerator pedal. WARNING: Do not set MyKey
maximum speed limit to a limit that will
prevent the driver from maintaining a safe
speed considering posted speed limits and
prevailing road conditions. The driver is
always responsible to drive in accordance
with local laws and prevailing conditions.
Failure to do so could result in accident or
injury. •
Various vehicle speed reminders so
MyKey drivers know when their vehicle
speed approaches the limits. Warnings
appear in your information display and
a tone sounds when the MyKey drivers
exceed the set vehicle speed.
• The audio system's maximum volume
limits to 45% so MyKey drivers can
concentrate on the road. A message
appears in the information display
when MyKey drivers attempt to exceed
the limited volume. MyKey also
disables the automatic volume control.
Note:
If your vehicle includes an
AM/FM radio or a very basic audio
system, then the radio may not limit.
• Always on setting. This setting forces
certain features to remain on and
active for MyKey drivers. For example,
E911 or emergency assistance and the
do not disturb features stay on even if
a MyKey driver uses the feature's
control to switch it off. When you
select, you will not be able to turn off
Advance Trac or traction control (if
your vehicle has this feature).
CREATING A MYKEY
Use the information display to create a
MyKey:
1. Insert the key you want to program into
the ignition. See Starting a Gasoline
Engine
(page 127). If your vehicle is
equipped with a push-button start,
place the remote control into the
backup slot. See Starting a Gasoline
Engine
(page 127).
2. Switch the ignition on.

3. Access the main menu in the
information display and then scroll
through the menus to change the
settings of your MyKey. From the
MyKey menu select the option Create
MyKey. See Information Displays
(page 99).
4. When prompted, hold the
OK button
until you see a message informing you
to label this key as a MyKey. The
programmed restrictions apply when
you key off, open and close the driver
door and restart your vehicle with the
programmed key or transmitter.
MyKey is successfully created. Make sure
you label it so you can distinguish it from
the admin keys.
You can also program configurable
settings for the key(s). See
Programming/Changing Configurable
Settings
.
Programming/Changing
Configurable Settings
Use the information display to access your
configurable MyKey settings.
1. Switch the ignition on using the key or the transmitter you want to program.
2. Access the main menu in the information display and then scroll
through the menus to change the
settings of your MyKey. See
Information Displays
(page 99).
3. Follow the instructions in the display. Note:
You can clear or change your MyKey
settings at any time during the same key
cycle as you created the MyKey. Once you
have switched the vehicle off, however, you
will need an admin key to change or clear
your MyKey settings.
CLEARING ALL MYKEYS
When you clear your MyKeys, you remove
all restrictions and return all MyKeys to
their original admin key status at once. To
clear all MyKeys of all MyKey settings, use
the information display.
1. Switch the ignition on using an admin key.
2. Access the main menu in the information display and then scroll
through the menus to begin clearing
your MyKey programming. See
Information Displays
(page 99).
3. Follow the instructions in the display.
4. A confirmation message appears in the
display after you finish clearing your
MyKeys.
Note: When you clear your MyKeys, you
remove all restrictions and return all MyKeys
to their original admin key status. You
cannot remove the MyKey restrictions
individually.

Locking
Locking With the Key
Turn the top of the key toward the rear of
your vehicle.
Locking With the Remote Control
Press the button once. The
direction indicators will flash.
Press the button again within
three seconds to confirm that all the doors
are closed. The horn sounds and the
direction indicators flash.
Note: You can lock the driver door with the
key. Use the key when the remote control
is not functioning.
Note: Make sure you have locked your
vehicle before leaving it unattended.
Note: Do not leave the keys in your vehicle.
Unlocking
Unlocking With the Key
Turn the top of the key toward the front of
your vehicle.
Unlocking With the Remote Control Press the button once. The
direction indicators will flash.
Note: You can unlock the driver door with
the key. Use the key when the remote
control is not functioning.
Note: When you leave your vehicle
unattended for several weeks, the remote
control turns off.
Note: Unlock your vehicle and start the
engine using the key. Unlocking and starting
your vehicle once enables the remote
control. Unlocking the Rear Cargo Doors Press the button.
Reprogramming the Unlocking
Function
Note: When you press the unlock button,
either all the doors are unlocked or only the
driver and passenger doors are unlocked.
You can reprogram the unlocking function
so that all doors are unlocked.
Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons
on the remote control simultaneously for
at least four seconds with the ignition off.
The direction indicators flash twice to
confirm the change.
To return to the original unlocking function,
repeat the process.
You can also change between the
unlocking modes using the information
display. See General Information (page
99).

You shift into any gear putting your
vehicle in motion.
• Your vehicle reaches a speed greater
than 5 mph (8 km/h).
Use the interior door unlock button or
switch the ignition off and use the key or
remote control to unlock the rear or sliding
door.
Autounlock
Autounlock unlocks all doors within 10
minutes of the end of a drive cycle, when
the driver door is opened and the ignition
is off.
Enabling or Disabling Autounlock
You can enable or disable autounlock in
the information display. See Information
Displays
(page 99).
One-Stage Unlocking
You can switch on this function using the
information display. See
Information
Displays (page 99).
If you have switched on this function, you
unlock all doors including the rear doors
and the sliding door.
You unlock all of the doors when you:
• Press the unlock button on the remote
control once.
• Press the interior unlock button once.
Two-Stage Unlocking
You unlock the front doors when you:
• Press the unlock button on the remote
control once.
• Press the interior unlock button once. You unlock the front doors and cargo area
when you:
•
Press the unlock button on the remote
control once.
• Press the unlock button on the remote
control twice within three seconds.
Zone Re-Locking
(If Equipped)
If you enable zone re-locking and open one
door, all other doors remain locked. See an
authorized dealer for further information.
The locks on van, bus or wagon have two
zones, cabin and cargo. For van, the cargo
area includes the rear doors and the sliding
door. For bus or wagon, the cargo area
includes the rear doors.
• Exit your vehicle and press the lock
button.
• Press the unlock button or the cargo
area unlock button once to open the
respective zone.
If you now open a door within the unlocked
zone, the other doors in that zone
automatically lock.
Configurable Unlocking
Configurable unlocking is set when you
purchase your vehicle. It allows you to
select which doors unlock when you press,
once or twice, the unlock button or the
cargo area unlock button on your remote
control. You cannot switch this feature
back on if you had it switched off. See an
authorized dealer for further information.

PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT
SYSTEM (If Equipped)
Note: The system is not compatible with
non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems.
Use of these systems may result in vehicle
starting problems and a loss of security
protection.
Note: Metallic objects, electronic devices
or a second coded key on the same key
chain may cause vehicle starting problems
if they are too close to the key when starting
the engine. Prevent these objects from
touching the coded key while starting the
engine. Switch the ignition off, move all
objects on the key chain away from the
coded key and restart the engine if a
problem occurs.
Note: Do not leave a duplicate coded key
in the vehicle. Always take your keys and
lock all doors when leaving the vehicle.
SecuriLock®
The system is an engine immobilization
system. It is designed to help prevent the
engine from being started unless a
correctly coded key for your vehicle is used.
Using an incorrectly coded key may
prevent the engine from starting. A
message may appear in the information
display.
If you are unable to start the engine with a
correctly coded key, a malfunction has
happened and a message may appear in
the information display.
Automatic Arming
The engine immobilization system arms
immediately after you switch the ignition
off. Automatic Disarming
Switching the ignition on with a correctly
coded key disarms the engine
immobilization system.
Replacement Keys
The integrated keyhead transmitter
functions as a programmed ignition key
that operates all the locks and starts your
vehicle, as well as a remote control.
If your keys are lost or stolen and you do
not have a spare correctly coded key, you
will need to have your vehicle towed to an
authorized dealer. You need to erase the
coded keys from your vehicle and program
new coded keys.
Store an extra correctly coded key away
from the vehicle in a safe place to help
prevent any inconveniences. See an
authorized dealer to purchase additional
spare or replacement keys.
Programming a Spare Integrated
Keyhead Transmitter
You can program your own integrated
keyhead transmitter or standard
SecuriLock coded keys to your vehicle. This
procedure will program both the engine
immobilizer keycode and the remote entry
portion of the remote control to your
vehicle
Only use integrated keyhead transmitters
or standard SecuriLock keys.
You must have two previously
programmed correctly coded keys and the
new unprogrammed key readily accessible.
See an authorized dealer to have the spare
key programmed if two previously
programmed correctly coded keys are not
available.
Read and understand the entire procedure
before you begin.
