Anti-Theft Locking from Any Door
When all doors are locked using the
lock/unlock button, a second press
of the button within five seconds will
activate the Anti-Theft Locking
system.
Anti-Theft Unlocking from
Any Door
When all doors are unlocked using
the lock/unlock button, the
Anti-Theft Locking system will be
deactivated.
Passive Locking
This feature will lock the vehicle
several seconds after all doors are
closed, if the vehicle is off and at
least one RKE transmitter has been
removed from the interior or none
remain in the interior.
The fuel door will lock.
If other electronic devices interfere
with the RKE transmitter signal, the
vehicle may not detect the RKE
transmitter inside the vehicle.
If passive locking is enabled, the
doors may lock with the RKEtransmitter inside the vehicle. Do
not leave the RKE transmitter in an
unattended vehicle.

Temporary Disable of Passive
Locking
Temporarily disable passive locking
by pressing and holding
Kon the
interior door switch with a door open
for at least four seconds, or until
three chimes are heard. Passive
locking will then remain disabled
until
Qon the interior door is
pressed, or until the vehicle is
turned on.
Remote Left in Vehicle Alert
When the vehicle is turned off and
an RKE transmitter is left in the
vehicle, the horn will chirp three
times after all doors are closed. To
turn on or off, see Vehicle
Personalization 0150. Remote No Longer in Vehicle Alert
If the vehicle is on with a door open,
and then all doors are closed, the
vehicle will check for RKE
transmitters inside. If an RKE
transmitter is not detected, the
Driver Information Center (DIC) will
display NO REMOTE DETECTED
and the horn will chirp three times.
This occurs only once each time the
vehicle is driven. To turn on or off,
see
Vehicle Personalization 0150.
Keyless Liftgate Opening
When the doors are locked, press
the touch pad under the emblem to
open the liftgate if the RKE
transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft).

Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmed
to the vehicle will work. If a
transmitter is lost or stolen, a

replacement can be purchased and
programmed through your dealer.
The vehicle can be reprogrammed
so that lost or stolen RKE
transmitters no longer work. Any
remaining RKE transmitters will
need to be reprogrammed. Each
vehicle can have up to eight
transmitters matched to it.
Programming with Recognized
Transmitters
A new RKE transmitter can be
programmed to the vehicle when
there are two recognized RKE
transmitters. To program, the vehicle
must be off and all of the RKE
transmitters, both currently
recognized and new, must be
with you.
1. Place the recognized RKEtransmitters into the storage
bin with the lock icon.
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 038.
3. Insert the vehicle key of the new RKE transmitter into the
key lock cylinder located on the
outside of the driver door and
turn the key counterclockwise
to the unlock position five times
within 10 seconds.
The DIC displays READY FOR
REMOTE #3, 4 or 5. 4. Place the new RKE transmitter
into the storage bin with the
buttons facing up.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the RKE transmitter is
learned, the DIC will show that
it is ready to program the next
transmitter.
6. Remove the RKE transmitter from the storage bin and
press
K.
To program additional RKE
transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5.
When all additional RKE
transmitters are programmed,
press and hold ENGINE
START/STOP for 12 seconds
to exit programming mode.
7. Put the key back into the transmitter.
8. Replace the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 038.

Programming without a
Recognized Transmitter
If there are no currently recognized
RKE transmitters available, follow
this procedure to program up to
eight RKE transmitters. This
procedure will take approximately
30 minutes to complete. The vehicle
must be off and all of the RKE
transmitters you wish to program
must be with you.1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 038.
2. Insert the vehicle key of the RKE transmitter into the key
lock cylinder located on the
outside of the driver door and
turn the key to the unlock
position, counterclockwise, five
times within 10 seconds.
The DIC displays REMOTE
LEARN PENDING,
PLEASE WAIT.
3. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE
START BUTTON TO LEARN
and then press ENGINE
START/STOP. The DIC will again display
REMOTE LEARN PENDING,
PLEASE WAIT.
4. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all
previously known RKE
transmitters will no longer work
with the vehicle. Remaining
RKE transmitters can be
relearned during the next
steps.
The DIC should now display
READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
5. Place the new RKE transmitterinto the storage bin with the
buttons facing up. 6. Press ENGINE START/STOP.
When the RKE transmitter is
learned, the DIC will show that
it is ready to program the next
transmitter.
7. Remove the RKE transmitter from the storage bin and
press
K.
To program additional RKE
transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6.
When all additional RKE
transmitters are programmed,
press and hold ENGINE
START/STOP for 12 seconds
to exit programming mode.
8. Put the key back into the transmitter.
9. Replace the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 038.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
If the transmitter battery is weak or if
there is interference with the signal,
the DIC may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY
WAS DETECTED PLACE KEY IN

TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE when you
try to start the vehicle. The DIC may
also display REPLACE BATTERY
IN REMOTE KEY.
To start the vehicle:
1. Place the RKE transmitter inthe storage bin with the buttons
facing up.
2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or N (Neutral), press the brake
pedal and ENGINE START/
STOP. See Starting the Engine
0 188 for additional information
about the vehicle's keyless
ignition with pushbutton start. Replace the transmitter battery
as soon as possible.
Battery Replacement
Replace the battery if the DIC
displays REPLACE BATTERY IN
REMOTE KEY.
Caution
When replacing the battery, do
not touch any of the circuitry on
the transmitter. Static from your
body could damage the
transmitter.
The battery is not rechargeable. To
replace the battery: 1. To remove the key, press the button on the back of the RKE
transmitter near the bottom,
and pull the key out. Never pull
the key out without pressing
the button.
2. Remove the battery cover by prying it with a finger. 3. Remove the battery by pushing
on the battery and sliding it
toward the key blade.
4. Insert the new battery, positive side facing up. Push the
battery down until it is held in
place. Replace with a CR2032
or equivalent battery.
5. Snap the battery cover back on to the RKE transmitter.
Remote Vehicle Start
If equipped, this feature allows the
engine to be started from outside
the vehicle.
/:This button will be on the RKE
transmitter if the vehicle has remote
start.
The climate control system will use
the previous settings during a
remote start. The rear defog may
come on during remote start based
on cold ambient conditions. The
rear fog indicator light does not
come on during remote start. If the
vehicle has heated and ventilated

Memory Seats
If equipped, memory seats allow two
drivers to save and recall their
unique seat positions for driving the
vehicle, and a shared exit position
for getting out of the vehicle. Other
feature positions may also be
saved, such as power mirrors and
power steering wheel, if equipped.
Memory positions are linked to RKE
transmitter 1 or 2 for automatic
memory recalls.
Before saving, adjust all available
memory feature positions. Turn the
ignition on and then press and
release SET; a beep will sound.Then immediately press and hold 1,
2, or
B(Exit) until two beeps
sound. To manually recall these
positions, press and hold 1, 2, or
B
until the saved position is reached.
Follow the instructions under
“Saving Memory Positions.”
The vehicle identifies the current
driver ’s RKE transmitter number (1–
8). See Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation 030. Only
RKE transmitters 1 and 2 can be
used for automatic memory recalls.
A Driver Information Center (DIC)
welcome message indicating the
transmitter number may display for
the first few ignition cycles following
a transmitter change. For Auto
Memory Recall to work properly,
save the positions to the memory
button (1 or 2) matching the RKE
transmitter number displayed in the
DIC welcome message. Carry the
linked RKE transmitter when
entering the vehicle. Memory adjustments may not be
available upon delivery or after
service until steps in
“Saving
Memory Positions” section are
performed.
Vehicle Personalization Settings
. To have the Auto Memory Recall
movement begin when the
vehicle is started, select the
Settings menu, then Vehicle,
then Comfort and Convenience,
and then Auto Memory Recall.
Select On or Off. See “Auto
Memory Recall” later in this
section.
. To begin Easy Exit Recall
movement when the ignition is
turned off and the driver door is
opened, or when the ignition is
turned off with the driver door
already opened, select the
Settings menu, then Vehicle,
then Comfort and Convenience,
and then Easy Exit Options.
Select On or Off. See “Easy Exit
Recall” later in this section.

Identifying Driver Number
To identify the driver number: 1. Start the vehicle with a different key or RKE transmitter. The
DIC should display the driver
number; 1 or 2. Turn the
ignition off and remove the key
or RKE transmitter from the
vehicle.
2. Start the vehicle with the initial key or RKE transmitter. The
DIC should display the other
driver number not shown in
Step 1.
Saving Memory Positions
Read these instructions completely
before saving memory positions.
To save preferred driving positions
1 and 2: 1. Turn the ignition on or to ACC/ ACCESSORY.
A DIC welcome message may
indicate driver number 1 or 2. 2. Adjust all available memory
features to the desired driving
position.
3. Press and release SET; a beep will sound.
4. Immediately press and hold the 1 or 2 memory button matching
the above DIC welcome
message until two beeps
sound.
If too much time passes
between releasing SET and
pressing 1, the memory
position will not be saved and
two beeps will not sound.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4.
•1 or 2 corresponds to the
driver number. See “Identifying
Driver Number” previously in
this section.
5. Repeat Steps 1–4 for a second driver using 1 or 2.
To save the position for
Band
easy exit features, repeat Steps 1–4
using
B. This saves the position
for getting out of the vehicle. Save preferred memory feature
positions to both 1 and 2 if you are
the only driver.
Manually Recalling Memory
Positions
Press and hold 1, 2, or
Bto recall
the previously saved memory
positions.
To stop Manual Memory Recall
movement, release 1, 2, or
Bor
press any of the following controls:
. Power seat
. Memory SET
. Power mirror, with the driver or
passenger side mirror selected
. Power steering wheel
Auto Memory Recall
The vehicle identifies the number of
the current driver ’s RKE transmitter
(1–8). See Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation 030. If the
RKE transmitter is 1 or 2, and Auto
Memory Recall is programmed on in
vehicle personalization, the
positions saved to the same

Rear Seats
Rear Seat Reminder
If equipped, the message REAR
SEAT REMINDER LOOK IN REAR
SEAT displays under certain
conditions indicating there may be
an item or passenger in the rear
seat. Check before exiting the
vehicle.
This feature will activate when a
second row door is opened while
the vehicle is on or up to 10 minutes
before the vehicle is turned on.
There will be an alert when the
vehicle is turned off. The alert does
not directly detect objects in the rear
seat; instead, under certain
conditions, it detects when a rear
door is opened and closed,
indicating that there may be
something in the rear seat.
The feature is active only once each
time the vehicle is turned on and off,
and will require reactivation by
opening and closing the second row
doors. There may be an alert even
when there is nothing in the rear
seat; for example, if a child enteredthe vehicle through the rear door
and left the vehicle without the
vehicle being shut off.
The feature can be turned on or off.

Manually Folding the
Seatbacks
Caution
Folding a rear seat with the seat
belts still fastened may cause
damage to the seat or the seat
belts. Always unbuckle the seat
belts and return them to their
normal stowed position before
folding a rear seat.
1. Place the front seatbacks in the upright position. See Reclining
Seatbacks 064.
2. Lower the rear head restraint. See Head Restraints 060.
3. Pull on the lever on the top of
the seatback to unlock it and
fold the seatback forward.
For outboard seatbacks, a tab
near the seatback lever moves
forward when the seatback is
unlocked.
