Inte rlock button
The in terlock button in the selector lever handle
prevents you from moving the selector lever in ­
advertently while in some selector lever posi­
tions. The positions that require the interlock
button to be pressed are marked in color in the il­
lustration

tor lever positions on page 63.
@ Tips
-If the se lector lever does not engage, there
i s a malfunction. The engine is d isabled to
prevent the vehicle from driving off unin­
tentiona lly . To allow the selector lever to
engage aga in , proceed as follows:
-Briefly press the brake pedal.
-If the vehicle does not move forward or in
reverse even thoug h a drive position is se­
lected, proceed as follows:
-> If the veh icle does not move in the desired
direction, the system may not have engaged
the drive pos it ion correctly. Press the brake
pedal and select the drive position again.
->If the veh icle st ill does not move in the de­
s ired direction, there is a system malfunc­
tion. See an authorized Audi dea ler or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance
to have the system checked .
Driving tips
The transmission shifts up and down automati­
cally when in the driving gears.

Starting the engine

(-10 °C)), the engine can on ly be started when

Kick-down
Kick-down enables maximum acc ele ration .
When you press the accele rato r peda l dow n be­
yond the resistance po int, the automatic trans ­
miss io n downshifts into a lower gea r and the
en ­
gine utilizes its f ull power, depending on veh icle
speed and engine RPM . It shifts up into the next
h igher gear once the maximum spec ified engine
RPM is reached.
A WARNING
Please note that the wheels could spin on
slick or slippery roads when kick -down is
ac­

Launch Control Program

The Launch Control Program enables maximum
acceleration .
Requirement: the eng ine must be at operating
temperature and the steer ing whee l must not be

Transmission malfunction

ue driving. No reverse gear
There is a system mal funct ion in the transm is­
sion. The transmission is switching to emergency
mode. This mode only shifts into certain gears or
will no longer shift at all. The engine may stall.
You cannot engage the reverse gear . Drive to an
author ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor ­
rected .
DI Transm ission : malfunction! You may contin­
ue driving in D until engine off
Drive the vehicle away from moving traffic and
park. See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Aud i Service Facility for assistance.
DI Transmission: too hot. Please adapt driving
style
The transmission temperature has increased s ig­
nificantly. Drive ve ry cautiously or take a break
from driving until the temperature returns to the
norma l range and the indicator light turns off.
DI Transmission : Please press brake pedal and
select gear again
I f the transmission ma lfunctions because the
temperature is too high, a message appears
when the transmission is cooled .
Driving
Selector lever emergency release
If the vehicle 's power supply fails, the selector
lever can be released in an emergency .

The emergency release mechanism is located in
the right area under the selector lever shift gate.
Using the emergency release can be complicated .
We recommend contacting an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized A udi Service Fac ility for as­
s istan ce, if necessary.

neuvering.

-Always look for traff ic and check the area
around your vehicle by looking at it direct ly
as well. The parking system cannot replace
the driver's attention . The driver is always
responsib le when entering or leaving a park­
ing space and during similar maneuvers.
- Please note that some surfaces, such as
clothing, are not detected by the system.
-
- Sensors and cameras have blind spots in
which people and objects cannot be detect­
ed . Be especially cautious of small children
and animals.
- The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the radiator gr ille, bumper,
wheel housing and the underbody . The park ­
i ng system may be impa ired as a result .
Have an authorized Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Serv ice Facility check their func ­
t ion.
- Make su re the senso rs a re not obst ructed by
st ickers, depos its or othe r ma ter ia ls.

are, the senso r funct io n could be impai red .

-Some objects are not detected or disp layed
by t he system under certain c ircumstances:
- objects such as barrier cha ins, tra iler draw
bars, vertical po les or fences
- objects above the sensors such as wall ex ­
tensions
- objects with certain surfaces or structures
such as cha in link fences or powder snow
- If you continue driving closer to a low ob­
ject, it may disappear from the sensor range . Note that you will no longer be
wa rned about th is obstacle.
- Keep enough distance from the curb to re­
duce the risk of damage to the rims .

-The system may provide a warning even
though there are no obstacles in the cover­
age area in some situations, such as :
- certain road surfaces or when there is tall grass
- externa l ultrasonic sources such as from
cleaning vehicles
- in heavy rain, snow, or th ick vehicle ex­

- We recommend that you practice par king in
a traffic -free location or parking lot to be ­
come familiar with the system . When doing
this, there shou ld be good light and weath ­
er conditions.
- You can change the vo lume of the signa ls.
- What appea rs in the disp lay is slight ly de -

- Th e sensors m ust be kept clean and free of
snow and ice for the parking aid to operate .

Rear parking system
Description

The rear parking system is an audible parking
aid .
Desc ripti on
There is a sensor in the rear bumper cover. If
these detect an obstacle, audible signals warn
you .
Make sure the sensors are not covered by stick­
ers, deposits or any other obstructions as it may
impair the sensor function. For informat ion on
cleaning, see
c::;.page 266 .
The range at which the sensors begin to measure
is approximately:
side 3 ft (0.90 m)
rear
center 5.2 ft (1.60 m)
The closer you get to the obstacle, the shorter
the interval between the audible signals . A con­
tinuous tone sounds when the obstacle is less
than approximately 1 foot (0.30 meters) away.

the volume of the distance warning gradually

the rearv iew camera was changed, for ex­
ample after a collision, do not continue to
use the system for safety reasons. Have it

Parking systems
-Only use the rearview camera to assist you if
it shows a good, clear picture. For example,
the image may be affected by the sun shin­
ing into the lens, dirt on the lens, or if there
is a malfunction.
- Use the rearview camera only if the luggage
compartment lid is completely closed. Make
sure any objects you may have mounted on
the luggage compartment lid do not block
the rearview camera.
- The camera lens enlarges and distorts the
field of vision. The object appears both al­
tered and inaccurate on the screen.
- In certain situations, people or objects in
the display appear closer or farther away:
- For objects that do not touch the ground,
such as the bumper of a parked vehicle, a
trailer hitch or the rear of a truck. Do not use the orientation lines in this case.
- If driven from a level surface onto an in­ cline, or a downward slope .
- If driven toward protruding objects.
- If the vehicle is carrying too much load in
the rear.

- The orange-colored orientation lines in the
Infotainment display show the vehicle path
based on the steering wheel angle. The
front of the vehicle swings out more than
the rear of the vehicle. Maintain plenty of
