Opening and closing
-The LED in the driver's door rail blinks when
you lock the vehicle . If the LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a malfunction in the central locking
system. Have the problem corrected by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Fac ility.
Key set

@ Remote control key or convenience key*
The convenience key* is a remote control key with
special functions
c:> page 32 and c:> page 77.
You can unlock/lock your vehicle with the remote
control key. A mechan ical key is integrated in the
remote control key
c:> page 31.
@ Key fob with vehicle code
Applies to vehicles with Audi connect vehicle control
Open the key tag and scratch to reveal the vehicle
code. You can unlock the Audi connect vehicle
control services* for your vehicle with this vehicle
code . For additional information, see
c:> page 19 7 .
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
author ized Audi Service Facility. Have this key de
activated . It is important to bring all keys wit h
you . If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insu rance company .
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system. To do this, select the
I MENU ! button> Vehicle> left
control button >
Service & checks > Vehicle in-

formation . This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer p revents unauthorized use of
the vehicl e.
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key chain .
Data in the master key
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is cont inuous ly stored in your remote con
trol key. Your Audi se rvice advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work your vehicle
needs . T his applies also to veh icles w ith a con
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses their own remote
control key. When the ignition is turned off or
when the vehicle is locked, pe rsonal convenience
settings for the following systems are stored and
ass igned to the remote master key.
- Climate cont rol system
- Steeri ng wheel heating*
- Central lock ing system
- Interior lighting*
- Exter ior lighting
- Rain sensor
- Memory function*
- Park ing aid*
- Adapt ive cru ise control*

when you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or

Child safety lock
The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside and the rear
power windows from be operated.

A WARNING
- If you leave the vehicle, sw itch the ignition
off and take the veh icle key with you. This
app lies pa rtic ula rly whe n children remain in
the vehicle. Otherwise chi ldren cou ld start
the engine or operate e lectrica l equipment
(such as power windows), which increases
the risk of an accident.
- A ma lfunction in the chi ld safety lock could
allow the rear doors to be opened from the
inside, which increases the risk of an acci
dent.

Climate control system
Description

The climate control system warms, cools and re
moves humidity from the air in the vehicle interi
or.
It is the most effective when the windows and
sunroof* are closed . If there is a bu ild-up of heat
inside the vehicle, ventilat ion can he lp to speed
up the cooling process.
In all heating mode functions except for
defrost,
the blower on ly switches to a h igher speed once
the engine coolant has reached a suffic ient tem
perature.
Pollut ant filt er
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the a ir .
K ey recognit ion
The climate control settings are automatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .

@ For the sake of the environment
- If you would like to reduce fuel consump
t ion, sw itch the air conditioning off. This
will also reduce emissions.
- In vehicles with a diesel engine, you can
switch the auxiliary heater off in the Info
tainment system.
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heating
and cooling output and to prevent the win
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
front of the windshield must be free of ice,
snow or leaves.
- Condensation from the cooling system can
dr ip and form a puddle of water under the
vehicle . This is normal and does not mean
there is a leak.
- The energy management system may tem porarily switch off certain functions, such as
the seat heating* or rear window defogger.
T hese systems are ava ilable again as soon
as the ene rgy supply has been restored.

Press the switches and knobs to turn the func
tions on or off . When the function is switched on,
the LED in the respective button or knob turns
on. The driver and front passenger sett ings can
be adjusted separately.
OFF climate control system
You can switch the climate control system on and
off using the OFF button . It also sw itches on
when you p ress another button or a knob. Airflow

A/C Cooling mode
Press the knob@to turn cooling mode on or off.
The air is not cooled and humidity is no t
removed
when cooling mode is switched off . This can
cause fog on the windows . Cool ing mode
switches off automatically when the out side tem
perature is be low zero.

The maximum cooling mode can be switched on and off using the
ef.~ button . The air is not cooled
and hum idity is not
removed when cooling mode .,.

Warm and cold
is switched off. This can cause fog on the win
dows . Cooling mode switches off automatica lly
when the outside temperature is below zero.
When the cooling mode is switched on,~ the
vehicle interior is coo led and dehumidified as
qu ickly as possible .
~ Recirculation mode
In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehicle is
circu lated and fi ltered. This prevents the unfil
tered a ir outside the vehicle from entering the
veh icle inter ior . Switch ing recirculation mode on
when dr iv ing through a tunnel or when s itting in
traffic is recommended

Using the button, recircu lation mode is switched
on and off using the~ button. You can also
sw itch off the recirculation mode by pressing the
knob @ (left side) or the off using the
3% button.
AUTO Automatic mode
Automatic mode maintains a constant tempera
ture inside the vehicle. Air temperature, airflow
and a ir distribu tion are controlled automatically .
You can switch automatic mode on or off by
pressing the knob @ (left side) .
Temperature
You can adjust the temperature between 60°F
( + 16°()
and 84°F ( +28°() by turn ing the knob
@ . If outs ide of this range,
LO or HI will appear
in the climate control system d isplay . At both of
these settings, the climate control system runs
cont inuously at maximum cooling or heating
power. The re is no temperature regulation.
8fr Blower
You can manually adjust the volume of a ir gener
ated by the blower to your preference by turning
the knob @. The blower should a lways run at a
low sett ing to prevent the windows from fogging
and to ensure a continuous exchange of air insid e
the vehicle . To have the b lower regulated auto
matica lly, press the knob@ (left side).
Air distribution
You can use the buttons to select the vents
where the air will flow. To have the air distribu-

tion regulated automatically, press the knob @
( left side).
J ~ Seat heating/ventilation*
Pressing the JI~ button switches the seat
heating/ventilation on at the highest setting
( leve l 3). The LEDs indicate the temperature lev
e l. To reduce the temperature, press the button
again. To switch the seat heating/ventilation off,
press the button repeatedly until the LED turns
off.
3%: Defogging
The windshield and side windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quick ly as possible.
The maximum amount of air flows mainly from
the vents below the windshield. Recirculation mode switches off. The temperature should be
set at
+ 72°F (+22°() or higher . The tempera ture
i s controlled automat ically .
Defrost is switched on and off switched on and
off using the~ button. You can sw itch the func
tion off by pressing the knob@Cleft side).
Applies to vehicles with windshield defogger: the
windshield defogger switches on automatically
when outside temperatures are low . If you would
like to sw itch the winds hield defros ter on man
ually, press the~ button . The LED in the button
blinks .
f!. Rear window defogger
Press the button~ to switch the rear window de
fogger on. It on ly operates when the engine is
running . It switches off automatically after
10 to
20 minutes, depending on the outs ide tempera
ture .
To keep the rear window defogger on cont inuous
ly, press and hold the~ button longer than
three seconds . This is stored until the ign ition is
switched off .
Synchronization
The function is activated by pressing and holding
the knob @ (left side) . The temperature disp lays
will blink briefly . When synchron izat ion is switch
ed on, the settings for the driver's side are ap-
plied to the front passenger's side and the rear .,.

the front passenger's side or in the rear .
Vents
You can open or close the center and rear vents in
the cockpit and the vents in the rear center con
sole and door pi llars using the ridged thumb
wheels. The levers adjust the direction of th e air
f low from the vents.
Re sidu al heat
You can activate the residua l heat f unct ion when
the ignition is switched off by pressing the knob
@ Cleft side) . The residua l heat from the coolant
is used to heat the vehicle interior. The residual
heat function switches
off automatically after
about 15 minutes.
A WARNING
- You should not use the recirculation mode
for an extended per iod of t ime, because no
fresh a ir is draw n in and the w indows ca n
fog whe n coo ling mode is sw itched off. Th is
increases the risk of a n accide nt.
- Individua ls with reduced sensitivity to pain
o r temperat ure co ul d deve lop burns when

using the seat heating function . To red uce
the risk of in jury, these individua ls sho uld
not use seat heating.
@ Note
To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not knee l on the seats o r place
heavy loads on a small area of the seat.
