The convenience key* is a remote control key with
special
functions ¢ page 33 and¢ page 76.
You can unlock/lock your veh icle w ith the remote
control key. A mechan ical key is integrated in the
remote control
key¢ page 32.
@ Key fob with vehicle code
Applies to vehicles with Audi connect vehicle control
Open the key tag and scratch to reveal the vehicle
code. You can unlock the Audi connect vehicle
control services* for your vehicle with this vehicle
code . For additional informat ion, see
¢ page 197 .
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authori zed Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility. Have this key de­
activated . It is important to bring all keys with
you .
If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insurance company .
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system. To do
this, select the
I MENU I button >Ve hicle > left
control button
> Service & checks > Vehicle in­
formation .
This way, you can make sure that you
ha ve all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
the vehicle .
Opening and closing
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key c hain.
Data in the master key
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is continuously stored in your remote con­
trol key . Your Audi service advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work your vehicle
needs . This applies also to vehicles with a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses their own remote
control key. When the ignition is turned off or
when the vehicle is locked, personal convenience
settings for the following systems are stored and assigned to the remote master key .
- Climate control system
- Steering wheel heating*
- Central locking system
- Interior lighting*
- Exterior lighting
- Rain sensor
- Memory function*
- Parking aid*
-Adaptive cruise control*
- Active lane assist*
- Side assist*
- Traff ic jam assist*
- Distance warning*
- Audi pre sense*
- Speed warning *
T he stored settings are automat ically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or
turn on the ignition.

The camera view is b locked, fo r example by a
s ticker o r debris.
The senso r is located between the interior rear­
view mir ror and the wi ndshield . Do not p lace any
sti cke rs in t his area on the wi ndshi eld.
,& WARNING
High beam assis tan t is only i ntended to assist
th e drive r. The dr iver is still re sponsib le for
contro lling the headlights and may need to
switch them on and off manually depend ing
on light and visib ility conditions. It may be
necessary to ope rate them manua lly in s itua­
tions such as:
- In adverse weather cond itions such as fog,
heavy ra in, b low ing snow or sp raying water .
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be
partially obsc ured, such as expressways .
- W hen there are road users t hat do not have
s ufficient lighting, s uc h as bicyclers o r
vehicles with dirty ta il lamps.
- In tight cu rves and on steep hills .
- In poo rly lit areas .
- Wi th stro ng ref lec to rs, such as s igns.
- I f the area of t he windsh ield near the se nso r
is f ogg ed ove r, dir ty, i cy or covere d w ith a
sti cker.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
The fun ctio ns are adjust ed in the Infotainment
system.
• Select in the Info tainment sys tem: !ME NUI but­
ton
> Vehicle > left contro l butto n > Vehicle
settings > Exterior lighting .

Automatic headlights

Entry/exit lighting
When it is dark, the Entry/exit lighting ill umi­
nates the area a round the vehicle when unlocking
the ve hicle and afte r swi tc h ing off the ignit io n
and opening the dr ive r's door.
The
Entry /exit lighting only works when it is
dark and the ligh t sw itch is in the
AUTO position.
Daytime running lights
USA models :
the daytime r unning lig hts can be
switched on/off . Select
On or Off.
Canada model s:
th is fu ncti on canno t be switche d
off. They act ivate au tomatically eac h time the ig ­
nition is switched on.

a ll other vehicles approaching from behind
can see your vehicle

ing another vehicle

(D -Rain sensor mode . T he windshield wipers
switch on once the veh icle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
higher the sensitivity of the ra in sensor that is set
(switch ® to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shield. You can deactivate the rain sensor mode
in the Infotainment system, which switches the
intermittent mode on . To do this, select:

as sistance > Rain sensor.
In interm ittent mode,

A WARNING
All wo rk on the batte ry o r electrical system in
yo ur vehicle can result in inju ries, chemical
burns, accidents or burns. Because of this, all
wor k must be performed
only by an author­
ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility.

- Battery posts, terminals and re lated acces­
sories contain lead and lead compounds,

-If the vehicle will be parked for long periods
of time, protect it against the cold so that it
will not be destroyed by "freezing"

-There are electrical components under the
cargo floor behind a trim pane l that warm
up during operation. To reduce the risk of
the components overheat ing, do not store
objects such as blankets under the cargo
floor . If they overheat, the components wi ll
switc h off temporarily. This will be ind icat ed
by a message in the instrument cluster, un­
til the temperature returns to normal.

Vehicle battery
The term "vehicle battery" refers to the 12 Volt
battery in your vehicle.
Not running the vehicle for long periods of
time
If you do not drive your vehicle for severa l days or
weeks, electrical equ ipment is gradually sca led
back or switched off. This reduces energy use and
ensures the vehicle will be able to start after long
periods of
time<=> page 145 . Some convenience
funct ions, such as interior lighting or power seat
adjustment, may not be available under certain
circumstances . These convenience functions will
be available again once you switch t he ignition on
and start the engine .
Even when electrical equipment is switched off,
the equipm ent can still drain the vehicle battery
if the vehicl e is not driven for long periods of
time. Deep draining results in a chemical reaction
that destroys the inside of the vehicle battery.
The vehicle battery must be charged every month
to reduce the risk of this happening
<=> page 323.

Winter operation
Cold weather places higher demands on the vehi­
cle battery. This results in reduced starting abili­
ty. Have the vehicle battery checked by an au­
thorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Fac il ity before the cold time of year .
